It's a running joke in the tabletop RPG that no matter how many times or ways you kill Adam Smasher, he always comes back. He's got like...triple Platinum Trauma Team Coverage AND he's Arasaka R&D's favorite Guinea Pig for experimental cutting-edge technology. Apparently even a front row seat to a nuclear bomb couldn't do enough damage to Smasher to keep Arasaka from stitching his crazy arse back together again. So yeah...it's possible David's alive in some way, shape, or form. And not necessarily just as a program. His real body was salvageable with Arasaka technology if they thought he was worth the small fortune in materials it would cost to do it. Highly improbable...but possible. He died right on their proverbial doorstep. And they did want to experiment on him in case ya'll forgot....
what do i think 1. Theres no edgerunners 2 planned at all, this was confirmed. 2. The ending was definitive and emotional because of its finality - some stories end and thats a good thing because it makes it more meaningful. 3. Adam gave him that option for soul transfer and he said no - then adam exploded his fucking head imto smithereens. 4. I personally think to have some revenge plot for lucy would not only be corny and stupid - it would fly in the face of the ending. I rate this theory: Preem copium choom.
Also, did you see what happened to Jackie? His engram couldn't even have a conversation or comprehension of anything. V hates seeing that. Saburo was the exception as they spend billions on him since he is the emperor. Johnny was also the highly advanced first ever prototype and this man was in Mikoshi for like 50 years. Just let my man David RIP.
Why though? He already proved he wasn't as special as they thought by succumbing to cyberpsychosis using the Exo skeleton, they got everything they wanted from him, he's not much different than literally any other Cyberpsycho after that
That's just speculation made up by you, we didn't see him grabbed, only being shot in the face so the fact you treat that as truth is really far-fetched, they won't even take David if he went against them which he did and has no purpose in using him.
I would love this, and came up with theories to myself sort of similar to this. But using David's body to make a new, maybe even better Adam Smasher, would be a good investment for Arasaka. And what better theme for a season too, than the adventure of Lucy as she tries to get back David's memory and body
Theory I like to go with is that Adam smasher will end up having difficulties in the next season (if there is one) and while smashers going through it they’ll talk about another construct project they have going on but it’s not operational because it’s not under saka’s complete control yet. Thus leading to the third season where Adam goes full cyberpsycho and they bring out David to protect the tower but david starts seeing parts of his past littered around NC and goes looking for Lucy while having to battle Adam
I love all these theories that David is still alive but there's a 100% guarantee he is still alive with no one knowing how. If you remember David relived the memories of the Cyber psychosis Soldier the man who made that says he needed the main ship that is stored which means every bit of David is on that chip it is unable to be destroyed unless someone actively goes for it

V is literally in his mid to late twenties in 2077. Edgreunners takes place in either 2075 or 2076. Regardless V is older than both David and Lucy. Why are you thinking this?
Adam offered "You could make an interesting construct" David said "whatever choom, like I give a shit" then Adam shot him in the head. Pretty sure Adam destroyed his brain so Arasaka couldn't get his engram. A twisted show of respect to a punk who stood no chance of winning.
he's dead, that ending needed to happen, it cheapens the show to just cancel his death and give them a good ending, the story was written as a tragedy and written well. there is no happy ever after
Wouldn't be David. It'd be an AI that thinks it's David. I feel people keep overlooking that very important lore point from the game. Johnny is dead, he is not the AI. If Johnny's engram is uploaded into V's brain, it's just V thinking they're Johnny as their brain has been rewired. Even if David was selected to be made into an engram (impossible - he's already dead. They tried to do it to Jackie if you send his corpse to Vic's to find out info on V but he's poorly made and barely functioning as a result of working from a dead brain), it wouldn't pass as David in the slightest.
It's honestly amazing how people have gotten so used to shows having bad endings, that they want to take a happy end, David being dead, and turn it into something awful.
Imagine a season2 where Lucy is net running to try to dismantle Arasakas "immortality" program because maybe they're supporting it with unethical practices or smtn, only to learn that David is being stored as part of the program, so if she destroys the program, she loses any chance of getting David back
@@CptnXplosion not possible since Alt literally absorbs all the engrams in Mikoshi and depending on the ending (nomad) the aldecaldos steal so much tech and valuables that I'm sure the building will be shut down for a while.

Apart from his head being blown by arasaka Remember that on 4/5 endings mostly you destroy Mikoshi and alt assimilates all the engrams stored, so yeah, if they could piece together something from David “not probable” it’s already deep in cyberspace

@@raptorboy2704 bro don't be sorry for this piece of shit right here everyone has their own opinions about this don't let him take that away from you tf
not an entire season but rather a short ep or a small interaction in-game
Realistically though, he’d still be a cyber psycho when he came back if it works like the doc explained it, your souls getting eaten away at and lost to the chrome. If they resurrected him, he’d still be on the end line of cyberpsychosis
David was/is one of my fav characters of all time
Furthermore, Adam Smasher says "you would make an interesting construct" before killing David.
And then immediately after David tells him to fuck off and Adam shoots him anyway
@@KallenScarlet how many shows have you seen where a character has been shot in the head and still lived. how many people in real life have been shot in the head and lived? it's possible, maybe not probable.
@@donaldmashburn1039 He wasn't just shot in the head. He was shot in the head, point-blank, by a gun that could tear through military grade armor.
Even though he shot it wasn't shown if he actual killed him so that's unconfirmed
@@xox_kookie_xox The very last thing we see of David is him getting shot. Just because they made the visual of him getting shot a creative transition, does not mean that he wasn't killed.
Adam both visually and textually said to David that he'd kill him seconds before a very heavily implied execution
A season two where Lucy goes after David would be an absolute godsend
"You spared Oda. So very... human! And disgusting. Mercy is disgusting."
-Adam Smasher
“Who the fuck are you?”
-Adam Smasher
seems someone is hitting the copium so hard that forgot that Trigger never brings back death ones and enjoys closing with bittersweet endings
Adam Smasher said David that he could be an interesting construct, however David answered that he would rather die as a human
what do i think
4. I personally think to have some revenge plot for lucy would not only
be corny and stupid - it would fly in the face of the ending.
I rate this theory: Preem copium choom.
the grabbed Jackie wells after he was dead they 100% grabbed David
Jackie's brain was intact. Adam turned David's entire neck up into a thin paste
What more could they possibly get out of David that Arasaka doesn't already know.
This what i call post cyberpunk denial after every ending you want happy ending but never will be that night city curse
in a AMA on the r/edgerunners subreddit, the creators of the show confirmed david’s death. he is dead. this show was so good man.
I would love this, and came up with theories to myself sort of similar to this. But using David's body to make a new, maybe even better Adam Smasher, would be a good investment for Arasaka. And what better theme for a season too, than the adventure of Lucy as she tries to get back David's memory and body
He wouldn't be better than Adam. Adam was the peak of chrome. When David got half as much chrome as Adam, he started bugging out.
@@magentawool2556 touché
@@PeterTheBoredOne still, it would have been an amazing ending.
David refused the opportunity to live on and so was an enemy to Arasaka, they have no use for him.
But smasher is dead cuz of V
Pretty sure Adam smasher can’t go cyberpsyco
@@Jarasonic327 i think in His Case He Always Had a Form of psychosis and learned to live with it He didnt feel human anyway
@Obscure Wondering i think in the Canon ending he's dead but thats Just tabletop wise but they still have His construct
Adam Smasher is already psychotic. He's so far detached from his humanity that he barely has any meat left and still operates just fine.
Imprisoned souls.
Sounds like a kind of hell, ask Spawn.
As much as this is nice to think about, Smasher zeroed his ass. No link or hack means no soul killer, no engram.
It's a possibility. I mean Adam Smasher did say something similar to he would be a fun project or he had potential.
The problem is David refused the opportunity so death is Adam's reward.
I love all these theories that David is still alive but there's a 100% guarantee he is still alive with no one knowing how. If you remember David relived the memories of the Cyber psychosis Soldier the man who made that says he needed the main ship that is stored which means every bit of David is on that chip it is unable to be destroyed unless someone actively goes for it
Not all of him, just when he was using the sandevistan
Please don't tell me your entire basis for this is a Brain Dance
@@JowoeBunchaNumbers yes
_Just keep runnin'_
“That nigga dead”- Kevin
This sounds like something they would do… although I’m in denial still, I think the current ending is a good ending
Anyone else like to act that David and Lucy are V's parents from time to time? lol
can happen tho, since David and Lucy have segs everyday
@@giyuudrip3758 yes but we don't know if she was capable of having children because of when she was a kid, they could have removed certain organs they deemed "unnecessary" ORRRRR agreed because luckily Lucy lived lmao
The events of 2077 happened only a couple of years after Edgerunner. V would've been a kid. Impossible.
@@LeonardoBerrios edgerunner is set in 2076, so yeah, you are right, it's an impossibility.
V is already older than both of them iirc.
V is literally in his mid to late twenties in 2077. Edgreunners takes place in either 2075 or 2076. Regardless V is older than both David and Lucy. Why are you thinking this?
This is why Adam smasher didn't panic when he was killed by V because he has probably been downloaded onto an engram
Adam Smasher: Nah
Adam offered "You could make an interesting construct" David said "whatever choom, like I give a shit" then Adam shot him in the head. Pretty sure Adam destroyed his brain so Arasaka couldn't get his engram. A twisted show of respect to a punk who stood no chance of winning.
he's dead, that ending needed to happen, it cheapens the show to just cancel his death and give them a good ending, the story was written as a tragedy and written well. there is no happy ever after
he was offered to become a construct. he said nah and got shot in da head
i just finished the show today. it took me only three hours to watch the series but it was a wonderful journey
His brain got splattered, even a relic couldnt have saved him
this would be a dope DLC for cyberpunk and it would still hold relavence to the main story we played before seeing the show
It's honestly amazing how people have gotten so used to shows having bad endings, that they want to take a happy end, David being dead, and turn it into something awful.
What you explained is just the whole Alt and Johnny story line essentially lol
“Hey bro i swear ghost was alive in the original mw2”
Rebecca and David need to comeback but there will be no season 2 lol
"I swear to god man, the pilots of apollo 1 didn't die in the explosion"
Idc how chromed David got; that first Cyberpsycho scene completely trumped the rest of the fights
Imagine a season2 where Lucy is net running to try to dismantle Arasakas "immortality" program because maybe they're supporting it with unethical practices or smtn, only to learn that David is being stored as part of the program, so if she destroys the program, she loses any chance of getting David back
And yah, it kind of invalidates the ending, but could be a cool setup to break us all over again
@@CptnXplosion not possible since Alt literally absorbs all the engrams in Mikoshi and depending on the ending (nomad) the aldecaldos steal so much tech and valuables that I'm sure the building will be shut down for a while.
You missed the part when David's head got blown the fuck up by smasher apparently.
Bro.
David is literally on the memorial.
"You never took me to the moon but you were there with me."
- Lucy.
in the game theres a side mission were you can talk to falco on text messages and he talks about what happened in the anime and he says he is the only one left alive
David Martinez is alive is the new Noble 6 is hiding in a cave
Video: David could still be alive
Us chooms: that’s shiny but we want Rebecca
Me noticing him say prime instead of preem
i like the few frames with CalebCity doing one of his skits
Smasher thought about it for a second before literally saying "Oh well" as he turned David's head into a puddle
did this man really just say ‘putting story implications aside’ like bro you cannot put them aside
You forgot one thing though wrong city and wrong people.
Apart from his head being blown by arasaka
Remember that on 4/5 endings mostly you destroy Mikoshi and alt assimilates all the engrams stored, so yeah, if they could piece together something from David “not probable” it’s already deep in cyberspace
I hope the sequel would drop you as an amnesiac david in a cloned body.
I believe this was just the tip of the iceberg for the cyberpunk franchise. We'll definitely see more of this in the coming future but it will feature a whole sets of different characters, settings and time. As for David, i believe he's truly gone but anything ia possible.
It's all up to the creators.
nah bro cyberpunk 2 protagonist having david martinez in his head instead of silverhand
Personally I hope they don't bring him back as some cyborg zombie like everyone says. David's death is the whole point of the anime and it's most defining moment. It doesn't matter how special, or strong you are, when you blindly fly too close to the sun, you get burned. To me bringing him back in anyway would diminish from it's brutal impact
This is how Warhammer 40k begins
Considering what Smasher tells him in the end : NO.
Not when your brain is littered in the street
I feel like this is a theory someone would come up with if they didn't watch the show
Kills the soul soulkiller. This is the teleportation problem all over again.
