Use the cloth type friction tape. Do Not use the black plastic electric tape. I have since doing this mowed the leaves up in the yard and it is so far working fine. 🙂
Slipping is generally the result of a worn drive belt, or using an aftermarket belt rather than an OEM belt . These vari-drives REQUIRE an OEM belt and will never properly work without one.

I just re did it a couple of weeks ago. Still getting the grass trimmed and the leaves mulched.

A time is coming I will have to replace it. But so far so good. The friction.tape is working for me.
