Adrian/Cat Noir always felt like an afterthought to me, they never want to do anything cool with him out of fear of making Marinette seem "inferior". So instead they try to make Adrian seem smart and perfect (thereby making him a very flat and boring character) but then they go around making Cat Noir an absolute dunce to make Marinette/Ladybug seem smart. Instead of making smart female characters they just make dumb male ones which really bothers me because it's kind of saying the opposite of what it tries to, to me it kind of says that girls are only smart when boys are dumb which is extremely not the case.
And like you said, they don't really know how to write romance. Both Marinette and Adrian act very creepily towards the other person. It's just Marinette is indirectly creepy and Adrian is direct. They use him as a means of making Marinette seem "normal and quirky" when all of her actions state otherwise.
Yeah the shows way of writing characters / interactions is just very 😐😐😐 not the best well say cause yeah everything you said is so painfully true and really sends mixed messages to the audience
@@LovesArt23 One thing that I really think was a missed opportunity was in one of Adrian's early development designs, he had a cane to walk which would have also hidden his identity better because no one would expect the kid who can barely walk without a cane to be able to jump around the city and fight super villains. But they were afraid of "not being able to represent handicapped people good enough" so instead they just moved that over to Cat Noir for his weapon.

I think it’s the other way around tbh. I don’t think he’s creepy, clingy maybe. Marinette is a borderline stalker. For comparison, I’m pretty sure Cat Noir has never actually kissed ladybug without her consent, while LB has tried, and succeeded.
@@longdong7667 Oh yeah I definitely agree, I just meant that sometimes they write him with a nice guy syndrome to the point where it's extremely off-putting. (To be fair they also write ladybug to the point where she straight up ignores him and is pretty dismissive of his relevant feelings, so of course he's going to be kind of clingy with the trauma he has with his dad) but So much of their conflict could be resolved if they just talked to each other.
Example:
CN:"It always feels like you're replacing me because you never ask for my help when there's an akuma attack."
LB:"I just wanted to give you a break, this job is really stressful and I wanted to give you time to relax."
CN:"Ladybug being Cat Noir is my relaxation and escape from my normal life, I know we aren't supposed to talk about our secret identities but living my civilian life is hard and being able to get away from that even if it's for 5 minutes is the thing I look forward to every day."
LB:"Oh my gosh Cat I never realized that I'm so sorry, I guess I've just been projecting what I want on to you. I've been wanting a break for so long since Master Fu left me to be guardian."
CN:"I completely understand, if you ever need a break just let me know ahead of time so if need be, we can switch miraculous temporarily so you can have a break and we can still catch the akuma."
LB:"Deal."

I have a friend that wears a whole suit (even more of a suit than this). They just don’t wear the suit jacket
Adrien has made a direct effort to stop the behavior that Ladybug *outright told him* to stop. It has become less and less of an issue in later seasons, it hasn't completely stopped but the things that Ladybug was directly uncomfortable with and lashed out toward him has stopped. Adrien needs to be told in no uncertain words what people want him to do or not do. Once he is told something directly? He believes it and makes an effort.
Ladybug never had a direct problem with the flirting and it's especially apparent in the French dub. When she talks to Chat Noir it is absolutely *dripping* with adoration and she almost never calls him by his name, almost always calling him a nickname or pet name. The only time she does not like it is when it directly gets in the way of the mission. Otherwise? Constantly cracking jokes and looking at him like she's in love.
As for the whole, true selves thing, it's really not an issue? Chat Noir is not who Adrien truly is, it's a *part* of him but it isn't his *true* personality. Adrien and Chat Noir are the same person and just facets of himself. There is no witty, flirty Chat Noir without the softer, more reserved Adrien Agreste.
Regarding that last part, exactly! And it's unfortunate that Adrien feels like he can't really act like Chat Noir when he's Adrien or like Adrien when he's Chat Noir because they're just so different, as opposed to Marinette who started integrating Ladybug into her civilian life very quickly. So yeah, there is no 'this is Adrien's true self and whatever other way he acts is him pretending or lying to himself'. Both Chat and Adrien are Adrien and his true self lies somewhere in between. He just needs to bring those halves closer together.
@@47ratsinahoodie Yup! We've seen Adrien in Chat and we've seen Chat in Adrien plenty of times. There was never a true disconnect between the two, people just made that up.
Adrien as a civilian is a slightly crafted persona, but he himself still has his own traits. He has a distaste for authority, he's a romantic, he's got a strong moral compass. Stuff that Gabriel for sure didn't craft for him.
Chat Noir is Adrien letting out his more pushed away traits. He's goofy and wacky and a buffoon. He's a massive flirt and even more of a romantic and he just relishes in the freedom the suit allows. But if he had the same freedom without the suit? He'd probably act very different.
Meanwhile Marinette really doesn't change. At most, she's just less shy but... Really that's only around Adrien, not anybody else. She can stumble and stutter but even Ladybug has on occasion.
There's never been a "true selves" dilemma in the show, people just projected that.

Yeah that's true. The main issue with the identity thing is that it kinda proves that the main ship doesn't have a strong foundation since the characters make a sudden switch from not genuinely liking the other to liking the other. I think it's more noticeable with Adrien suddenly liking Marinette the moment he finds out that she's Ladybug since he often gets less screen time than Marinette. Marinette goes through something similar but in canon, she acts like she likes him by flirting back which understandably would confuse anyone who hasn't dealt with this situation before because they weren't allowed to interact with many people.
Overall, it just seems like the more the show tries to convince the audience that the main ship is perfect for each other, the less the audience believes it because some of the episodes actively show that it's problematic and negatively affects everyone around them
I just love your redesign he looks really cool!
My opinion with Adrien is that he’s just a wasted potential, like he’s a main protagonist too, but 90% of the time we see Marinette and 10% Adrien, like we don’t know anything of his relationship with her mother other than she was being really nice with him and that’s all, it’d be cool to see Flashback of their relationship.

In all honesty, the Black Cat Miraculous is done dirty in the show. Not only is it one of the weakest Miraculouses in the show, despite being the most powerful. But the colour palette is so darn boring! And compared to the other superhero costumes, it is the most restrictive when it comes to creative liberties. Why does it specifically have to be pure black with some green bits every time? One day, I want to see a character with the Cat Miraculous, with an outfit based on a calico or tuxedo cat, just to spice things up.
Why are you so underrated? Your designs are both visually appealing and perfect at conveying the characters' personalities. I love how your Cat Noir redesign looks less like a BDSM cat-themed outfit like the OG and more like what a kid who's a superhero fan would design for themselves and that's amazing

I wish Adrien could've been good friends with Luka and opened up to him. Yeah, it would push Nino to the sidelines a bit but tbf the show was hardly using him before. But Luka already knows both Mari and Adrien's identities and Mari already have Alya to confide in; why couldn't Adrien have Luka? Why does Mari get all the support? Just cause she a guardian? Adrien is a superhero under stress, too

Honestly if Adrien was designed like this in the show, I would 100% love him!! You did a amazing job!
First, civilian Adrien looks STUNNING! Like, aside what you said in with the "skinny fashion" thing where stuff only looks good on models, Adrien's look just looks SO natural and SO fitting that of course someone would see that and go to the shopping to buy the same because it just fits him so smoothly, and for a character who revolves around the fashion world, I think that's a great design that actually reflects now only his background, but the background of his family. So, civilian Adrien, a perfect redesign!!
Now, while I admit that hero Adrien is a decent design that serves enough, your redesign does make it look like Adrien wants to relax and have fun, the technowear is something I would have never thought of for Adrien, but it does fit him as a kid that wants to do stuff now unsuperviced, the neon accents are also so good, and I kinda have a headcanon now that they are like led lights and when Adrien wants to stealth, the neon powers down and is more like og Chat. I kinda kiss the bell being an actual bell, but with how the rest of the design is a departure of the og one, and is all out to embracing that difference, I'm not so sad/mad (smad?) because is an understandable trade-off

I feel like his behavior was made worst in season 4. And i'm pretty sure is bc of creator seeing that fandom preffers Adrien over Mari. I can image him being like "Oh, so you like him more than my precious baby..Hmmm, i'm gonna make him as awful as her!"

Love the designs you made for all of him. I will add that a part of his OG design I really like are the paw pads on the bottom of his boots. The only issue I got with all the neon is that his whole deal is he’s supposed to blend in with the shadows cause he’s a black cat.
But I really love everything you’ve done. Adrien/Chat Noir is my favorite character so I really enjoyed this. I also like that you gave him bags under his eyes. I will say story wise both Gabriel and Marinette are dead to me, they will not be forgiven. But again I enjoyed so much you’ve done with him.
Yeah I thought about the neon being a problem at night but i figured 90% of tye fights in the show are in broad daylight I figured it wasnt to bad 😂😂😂 and thank you

He looks so much better like this! His little freckles are adorable and I feel like if you had somehow gotten your hands on the show it would’ve been much more beloved and well-written.

I absolutely adore your Chat design, it look ten times better than the original. It actually makes Adrien and Chat look like completely different characters and emphasizes the fact that he gets to be himself as Chat. At least, that's what they're trying to say. The shows writing is unbearable, but at least the artist in the fandom come in clutch.
Your redesign of Adrien especially his hero costume is absolutely amazing! They way you drew him as Chat Noir is so freakin cute
I really like your redesigns, especially the hero costume! He looks cute yet fashionable in his everyday outfit, definitely fits his family history and his "profession". And his hero costume.. I love it! I think the reason I like it so much (other than the amazing design and style) is the fact that it somewhat resembles his 'space' suit, which I really like. So, honestly, I think you did a wonderful job designing these outfits!
He is totally rocking that suit! The design is so different,innovative, creative and amazing!
The croc top sleeveless shirt is well designed and compliments him nicely,the obi belt thing gives more balance between his croc top sleeveless shirt as well! :D
I really enjoyed the paw pad marks on his hands and the marks on his arms so it makes them not feel so naked and out of detail.
The big puffy cargo pants with the knee protection also looks very cool and compliments the rest of the attire really nicely,the shoes look way better now!specially with the small pad like nail thingy on the tips(the green thingy)
The fluffy hair with the black split at the end of it was also a really nice touch!
Overall my conclusion for this attire is that it does a nice job at interpretating Adrian's real personality through this.
So yeah I would give this a 10/10

Adrien with a fall theme makes sense and his shoes could have been something from his dad but not like Gabriel handed a pair of shoes from another brand. Overall the re-re-design of Adrien looks 👍.
To be completely honest, Never watched the show, I think I saw only a tiny amount of episodes and just didn't care about it any further.
I can agree that the outfits aren't super eye catching, and honestly CatNoir's in the actual show was one that was something you could forget easily unless you really love the character
So I really really love these redesigns! If I saw this when I first ever saw it, I would be way more invested, as well as more love to the story with how you put more backing on Adrian!
And I might have an idea for the bell, maybe it could be used as a strategy type plan with him and Ladybug, Where CatNoir could ring the bell and pounce/move around in building type missions or something like that to confuse the enemy of where he is and can give the chance for Ladybug to get the Kuami(I don't know what those evil butterflies are spelled) but the draw back is how far he can pounce/jump or move around things and have to plan on the timing of when the bell rings
I've been finally been waiting for this for months now and finally worth It!!! Hope to see Ladybug herself get redesigned soon enough!

@@LovesArt23 For my friend's version, he actually was gonna make Cat Noir more tamed but sometime tries not to get the better of himself, not only that but give him an upgrade to similar how regular Digimon evolve from babies from Rookies to Champions to Ultimate to etc, but for now the 2nd form will be close to Rum Tum Tuggers (mostly from his own custom jacket from the rest we won't reveal too much)
I LOVE the look, it looks so cyberpunk & I don't know why but also skater for some reason, love it, actual cosplay material right there, some people forget that the hero persona is basically who they actually are on the inside, making his "look at me world, this is the real me" makes sense cause it's true that thru out the series he really has been putting on a mask for everyone, never acting like the joking fun loving kid he wants to be heck not even letting nino know is sad too, the fact that he cant even be comfortablearound his only friend is sad, by having his look be the literal exact opposite of what he is (uptight looking stress ball to neon fun loving goof ball) it shows it shows how adrian can finally spread his wings (paws) & be himself, his civilian look also ACTUALLY looks like he is infact a model whose dad is a designer & would obviously not let his son be caught dead looking like.... the adrian we got
He came out so freaking cute!!! Chat really feels like a kid now! I love that there's so much neon green and yellow, even if it hurts my eyes a little 😅 And Adrien looks so stylish and you can see his father's influence on his appearance :3 Excellent job! And like I said in the community post, I'm gonna make fanart of your Kagami and Adrien redesigns! Idk when it'll be done but it's already in progress 🖤

Loved this!!! I love how much thought I put into his redesign and thank u!!! I don’t keep up as much with this fandom anymore and that’s largely cause of how toxic and horrible the show writers are to some of the characters, you can have angst without having a bad storyline and as a writer it rotates me that angst or weirdness is all they seem to be able to do with Adriens character. He has so much potential!!! Regardless thanks again loved this!!

Yeah the creators really seem like they dont wanna do anything with him even though hes a main character and the love interest and what little we do get is stuff we already know or gets thrown out or a personal favorite they seem to love doing going back in time and erasing everything they just did

These designs are so REFRESHING. You can literally tell so much about both his civilian form and super form just by looking at him, which I find you can’t as much in his original designs, at least in the promo images.

The hairstyle for civilian Adrien makes me think of (and I am not trying to mean this in a harmful or offensive way but if it comes across that way I am sorry and I love your art) Draco Malfoy specifically how it looked in the third and fourth movies. Like first 2 movies Lucius his dad was doing his hair slicking it back like Gabriel probably would, and after the third movie he starts styling it himself but he could still slick it back if he wanted/needed to.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this hero outfit omg!! he just looks so FOURTEEN!! He looks like a scene kid sparkle dog (sparkle cat lol) and I love it!!!
