This is a song I can say that has literally helped save my life. 5 months sober and strong. If anyone else out there is struggling just know there is someone who believes in you. I know I do. We all can get better, but you can only “eat an elephant” one bite at a time.

Last night I drank my last drop of alcohol. After finishing more than half a bottle of Tequila and it didn’t get me drunk so I kept going and my son woke up and found me in the living room with the bottle and told me “mom you’re an alcoholic” and that stung. So I’m leaving this comment to hold myself accountable. I hope that maybe this will inspire someone else to chose sobriety. To those who went through this battle with me before and saw me make it to 9 years of sobriety, I won’t fail again. To those who are sober, I salute you.. keep going! Let’s do the damn thing! Jan 25, 2024 will be 10 years sober, my lil brother passed away one year ago today, he partied like a rockstar on Christmas, I believe he passed from his drinking, he had high blood pressure and refused to take his meds, he drank a whole lot, his first marriage failed, his second marriage almost failed. I sent him this song right before he passed, all he could say is that is a good song, I asked him if he considered going to rehab, he said he was thinking about it, well he died of a brain aneurysm, brain dead and left behind three small kids and a wife. :(

Hope I can reach that point. Was never ever a drinker. My parents were drunks. Then a 10 or so months ago I somehow started? It was almost like I pushed myself cuz I fucking hate alcohol. the taste. The damage it causes.
Up to over a 5th a day. I'm somehow still "functional" in day to day but once my responsibility is over for the day I drink myself into an oblivion. And I wake up, shakey. Ill.

I lost my husband of 20 years to alcoholism last December and every bit of this song was him except for the part of no one taking care of him. I took care of him for the whole 15 years that he drank until there was almost nothing left of me. I lost myself in trying to help him and he said "thank you" by looking me in the eyes as he put a gun up to his head and pulled the trigger. My heart goes out to any and everyone who struggles with this addiction and to those who love someone who is struggling.

I am currently an addict I have been drinking since I was 9 I am trying to battle but it is hard. I do drink to escape just like all alcoholics. I never want to deal with myself and my issues from my past I drink to forget. I hope all of you who drink to excess will take me as a person to talk to or just remember that no matter how hard it is WE will get better as long as we try our hardest and seek some help I am currently in counseling and it has helped a lot I have very bad mental conditions and never wanna deal with it. I hope this will reach those who need it to. I know things will get better because I have gotten myself down to drinking 1-2 times a week albeit several drinks at a time but I have gotten better and it does feel better being off so much alcohol. This song was the last thing my sister ever posted on Facebook. She related so strongly with this song. She was an alcoholic, ,it destroyed her over the years, until finally her body gave up and she passed away. RIP Josey, you've left a huge hole in everyone who knew you. The pain of losing her is just too much to bare. 28 is much too young to die. 😔

Nobody was there for me either, except my Papa til he passed when I was only 11... I've realized now just how much he taught me n those short yrs. Music has ALWAYS been my "go-to". I used to drink a lot myself but haven't done that in several years. But I am addicted to something else (not drugs), and this song made me break down and cry in the shower the other day. It is so relatable and strikes at my soul. I know I need help and will be researching how to get the help I need.
