From another perspective... I grew up in a war zone due to an abusive, alcoholic Father. When these videos started, I was just a few months leaving a relationship with an alcoholic partner. I was so angry. Watching these videos, hearing the words of so many... brought me to ugly cries every time. I was able to find understanding, empathy and feelings other than anger. This helped me to remember the love that had once existed, let go of regret and HEAL. I would never go back because the abuse was too much. But, I don't linger in the bad feelings and I really believe I was able to work through this because of THIS project and the divine timing! Thank you Dax and all contributors! ❤

The lost souls of the world are not found in churches. I’m so glad that this song has changed so many lives and shout out to the people who submitted their verses for the courage to be vulnerable and tell their stories. I lost so many friends to substance abuse and seen lives and families ruined. It’s refreshing to see a different approach to show compassion and try to help these people instead of demonizing them. Some days it would be so much easier to just slip back into the long-grown habits, the addictions, the shell. But those habits/addictions/shells didn't help us or bring us true joy, and slipping back into them still won't. Keep your chin up. Keep striving. Give yourself some grace. Show those grandbabies how much grit you got, and that love can buoy us.

I absolutely love this song, I lost my uncle to alcohol and I almost had an addiction because of trauma I was going through thankfully I realized it was a problem before it got worse. This song makes me cry but also makes me sing my heart out. I play it on repeat on really bad days. It's been 3 years since I even touched alcohol.

This song was a realization for me. My substance was never alcohol rather I was a m€+h addict. Far as I can see it addiction is addiction. Me and my habits were hurting the people I loved and I was so blinded I never realized it. I truly understood this fact when I seen everybody sharing their experiences with the world. Cleaning up the acts that chain us and enslave us is one of the most selfless acts we can commit. He didn't die for you for nothing, he died because he loves you, your sins are as far as the east is from west, you just have to accept him to your heart. I know in some places they talk about "higher power" and all that. But It's Jesus. You're not alone. I struggle everyday. Fixing my mistakes is like trying trying to build a house out of ashes. But you can't give up, you can't give up on yourself. But but always know you can overcome. From another perspective... I grew up in a war zone due to an abusive, alcoholic Father. When these videos started, I was just a few months leaving a relationship with an alcoholic partner. I was so angry. Watching these videos, hearing the words of so many... brought me to ugly cries every time. I was able to find understanding, empathy and feelings other than anger. This helped me to remember the love that had once existed, let go of regret and HEAL. I would never go back because the abuse was too much. But, I don't linger in the bad feelings and I really believe I was able to work through this because of THIS project and the divine timing! Thank you Dax and all contributors! ❤

The lost souls of the world are not found in churches. I’m so glad that this song has changed so many lives and shout out to the people who submitted their verses for the courage to be vulnerable and tell their stories. I will start about 1974 when the thought first came to me about faking my death. I have always been fascinated with the occult and other spiritual things. When I first saw a wax dummy of myself made by a Mr. Cooper I was fascinated with it. For some time I had thought if it was possible? Could I pull this thing off? I had asked Mr Cooper if he could make another wax dummy for me. He said he could. I in turn said I wanted him to do it and keep it strictly confidential. When I had mentioned it to a very few close friends (Joe Esposito, Larry Geller) they did not think I was serious. I was tired of being Elvis Presley, my health was deteriorating. I just couldn't keep up. My finances were floundering because of my daddy's poor business ventures. I was at my wit's end. Did you know there are secret compartments in Graceland that very few people know about! A few like Vester would joke about my being alive but no one took him serious. Many of my friends would ask if I were still alive and they have their doubts but as it was I might have died broke and just a shell of myself. I was given an injection that looked like I was dead but the people closest to me knew better. Believe me I had my doubts that this could be pulled off. But it did and I became Jesse, just a poor white southern boy who didn't sing a lick of anything. I feel bad my Daddy wasn't allowed to know but it just couldn't be done. Some days it would be so much easier to just slip back into the long-grown habits, the addictions, the shell. But those habits/addictions/shells didn't help us or bring us true joy, and slipping back into them still won't.
Keep your chin up. Keep striving. Give yourself some grace. Show those grandbabies how much grit you got, and that love can buoy us.

I absolutely love this song, I lost my uncle to alcohol and I almost had an addiction because of trauma I was going through thankfully I realized it was a problem before it got worse. This song makes me cry but also makes me sing my heart out. I play it on repeat on really bad days. It's been 3 years since I even touched alcohol.

This song was a realization for me. My substance was never alcohol rather I was a m€+h addict. Far as I can see it addiction is addiction. Me and my habits were hurting the people I loved and I was so blinded I never realized it. I truly understood this fact when I seen everybody sharing their experiences with the world. Cleaning up the acts that chain us and enslave us is one of the most selfless acts we can commit. To everyone struggling with addiction no matter what it is; I believe in you and your ability to overcome.

41 year old mechanic in small town Michigan, step father of 3 beautiful kids. My wife has been in the hospital the last week recovering from a crushed vertebrae. My little brother is killing himself with alcohol, too, and I just buried my best friend of 29 years because of alcohol in February.
This made me pull over and cry. It’s good to know I’m not the only one who is a victim of their own mind and stuck so deep inside of themselves that it can destroy us.
