why would you ever do this by hand? download the music, turn it into an array, set a time displacement modifier with the value from the array minus the current frame, as the driver. any useable editing software has this, though you’ll have to replace the words modifier and array with the equivalent terms for your editing software of choice.
I did a stop motion project like this in high school with a guitar hero guitar, with this song. When you said "hours of video editing later", I REALLY felt that. The thing is, I could actually play the damn thing, so I gave up on stop motion after the beginning intro part and just continued the video from there with just plain footage of my hands and the screen. I got an A on the project. My teacher said "it was a cool reveal when it switched from stop motion to real time, showing that you can actually play the song on guitar hero. That was pretty crazy". I happily accepted the compliment, knowing that the switch to real time was out of sheer laziness, not wanting to go through that agonizing editing process anymore.
@KaiMCGRPS the teacher put it on the school website, and it gave me a reputation at school as "the guitar hero guy". At parties, drunk people would hand me the guitar hero guitar and go "duuuude you gotta play". It was the weirdest thing. At least I didn't get bullied for it 😂

It was less editing and more composing. Sure, it doesn't need dexterity and muscle training of playing it live, but it does take a lot of effort to construct a cover from samples.
Considering how many connection options you have with the EV3, I’m pretty sure he could just plug the EV3 brick into his computer via USB, and write a program that takes in MIDI data and plays the right notes at the right times from the EV3 itself! No guitar attachment necessary-although it would be cool to have a MIDI-controlled guitar, I must say!

I made one of these guitars 5 years ago, and the sensor used to register the notes is incredibly finicky. Sometimes it doesnt read the correct distance and just plays the wrong notes.
As a guitar player, this looks fun as hell to play. What's so difficult about playing it though? It honestly looks like it'd be a great teaching tool for beginner guitar players.

It's probably hard to move the collar fast enough without breaking the Lego blocks off unless he's done something fancy with the connections. You also probably have to be pretty precise with the movements or you'll end up playing the wrong note.

I'm not saying it's "easy" to play, but it's not certainly not "unnatural", at least not on a real guitar. There are a lot of excellent guitarists out there who would be able to play the song if they spent the time necessary to learn it.

@@JackRobinson14 I’m a musician so I’ve been around a lot of other musicians and I’ve witnessed some musicians pulls off ungodly riffs and licks, especially from standing bass players (by standing bass I mean the big classical ones), that will make you question reality as we know it far more than this would. Believe me, humans are capable of really crazy shit with enough practice.
