@@unpersonableme1805 it might have a digital interface, but the method of data storage is entirely analog.
@@SudsyMedusa53 The method of storage is digital, just because it's physical doesn't mean it's analog
The values are ones and zeros
either there is a pin in the slot so they play the drum or there is not a pin in the slot so they don't play that drum on that rack.
This hardware device is programmed digitally with physical ones and zeros.
If there is a black pin, play the note, that is one, if there is not a pin, that is a zero and the note doesn't play for that time slice.

He is free to do whatever he wants but most, like me, see that he lost sight of what his project was; a cool machine that makes music with marbles. If just making music was his goal then MIDI would have sufficed and could play his music without missing a single note. We never even got to see a demonstation of what MMX could do in video form like the video of his wooden prototype back in the day.
He got wrapped up in 'self-help' books, quoting Elon Musk and trying to 'optimise his workflow', ultimately deciding it was better to give up and start a new project rather than accept minor flaws. That is why his latest videos have a miniscule amount of views compared to his older ones.
It was a great shame and I'm not alone in thinking that. At some point, good enough has to be good enough, any recording musician knows this otherwise you never finish anything. Live musicians know that better still.

Songs that I recognised immediately: Taylor Swift -Shake it off (4:42), Blink 182 - First date (4:56), Chop Suey - System of a Down (5:06), Toto - Africa (5:21)
Obviously this is amazing!
Now a challenge: can you alter this to be able to play Guitar Hero? And reach a perfect score on "Through the Fire and Flames" by DragonForce?? 😃
The belt would have to be sooo long 😱
It would be amazing to see that thing play that!
I was thinking the perfect thing to do would be to set this up to play drums on LEGO Rock Band.
Please try this!!! Even if not the whole song, cause this would be absurdly awesome!!!
@@dinhtuan752 200,000 tracks ready with a million more well on the way.
idk why but your videos are just amazing to me, i like how you find the mistakes in the creation and your not like “i will improve it later” and forget it, your like “ill improve it now!”
This gives me animosic vibes and I love it- nice dose of nostalgia and awe
Holy crap I am seriously impressed gonna have one of these in my studio instead of a drum machine or midi piano roll
It’s essentially set up like A music box so to speak, but I enjoyed every song that played on it and I loved the rhythm and the quickness of how all the different drum pieces could play on that thing, and how well orchestratedly it was put together.
Not only was it an impressive build to me, but the way you made it play the music in the way that it did, was awesome on top of that.
Song 2 was a great touch!
Yeah literally called song 2
Song 2 and Chop Suey were my favorite. Damn, I love everything about this video!!
I love how 3:334 isn't even something with the legos, it's just the previous part of the video sped up.
you’ve gotten more insane lately, that’s good.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Holy shit. This is the most impressive Lego build I’ve ever seen. Not only does it confirm that Is possible to build a functional piano out of Lego but also a literal hand made MIDI file!!!!! This is absolutely incredible
Have you ever seen those mobile fairground/carnival organs? The ones that play the drums, wind instruments, and percussion? Those are pretty amazing too, and they work on a similar principle, but use rolls of paper with cutouts in place of the lego belt and pins this creation uses. Funny thing is - that's exactly how computers used to be programmed - a set of cards with holes hand-punched into them to act as the 1s and 0s of the program.
I love it that the most random things can come true in Lego! ❤
This instantly became one of my all time fav RUclips videos
