A very underrated game that I played a lot in my early childhood. One of my most nostalgic games. Thanks for keeping new content flowing on this classic game.

It is my hope that Azurik gets picked up by a good gaming studio. They nailed the elemental usage perfectly as well as the combinations. If they fixed the controls, improved the graphics, combat, and smaller issues, this game would be god-tier.

I have searched the bowels of the internet trying to find this. "2000s game with blue main character" "blue guy with staff". Bro, when I saw it was azurik I went straight to RUclips, saw this video, and just, thank you.

An essential part of my childhood. This game along with a few other Xbox originals will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s very unfortunate that it’s not supported via backwards compatibility on the series x/s. 4K, HDR, with FPS boost would have really been awesome.
Hopefully with future breakthroughs in original Xbox emulation someone will use AI upscaling for the textures and bring back some life to this game.

Water realm was my FAVORITE! I miss this game! I have thought about it a lot over the years. My step dad played this and I was so intrigued that I had to play it.

Dude we really are a part of the pioneers that played those early exclusives on OG XBOX. Wish they'd bring this one back. I never got to beat it but I loved exploring all the different worlds and gaining the different powers.

Games back in the day are way better than todays games
Graphics > gameplay = pretty but useless
Gameplay > graphics = fun experience

That OUATITW analogy at the end had me rolling! Well developed and thorough review of a game that was cast in a bad light from the get go. I personally agree when you call it a masterpiece. I really enjoyed this game over the last twenty or so years.
My best friend and I ended up renting Azurik from our local grocery store only because all the copies of Halo were gone already that Friday night. I'm glad we did. Anyone could take in massive amounts of Halo gameplay and eventually it's a broken record. But Azurik was a tad different in all the right ways. Well done.

Played Halo for the first time recently, and it had a trailer in it for this game. I got curious about it, decided to do some research and stumbled upon this video. And after watching some of the video, it seems like a pretty interesting game, so I think I'll play it at some point in the hopefully near future

I actually agree a lot with you on all these points. I used to see ads in gaming magazines for this game and wanted to check it out. However, the reviews were so poor that I thought it wasn't worth playing. I played and beat it a few years back and while it does has it's flaws it's actually an amazing game. Mech Assault is another forgotten series. It was wonderful. As a collector the og xbox it's awesome because it's relatively inexpensive to collect for but it's sad that many og xbox games never got sequels.

I played this game as a kid when I was top bored of halo or the fusion frenzy demos. I never had a guide or understood what I was doing, so I brute forced my way into having all 4 elements and killing the boss in the underwater dome area thing. Past that I got stuck at the fire area and dropped the game. I'm glad I got to see what was over that perverbial wall.

This game really brings me back, very much ahead of its time. All the different realms and out of this world entities you battle with, your armaments and the tiers you build up (hence the backtracking), it's also pretty difficult at times. The environments are unique and I'll leave it at that, I remember wanting to be in some, and others hitting some strange phobia.

I tried emulating it on my pc, but the game was so buggy, with the level phasing in/out of existance, and upon trying to start in the earth realm, the game permacrashed. I really wish it worked so recording gameplay was simple. From what I can tell, you need like two additional devices worth more than $300 to record gameplay on the xbox. Still my favorite game of all time.

I'd reach out to one of the game directors of azurik, I'm not entirely sure Microsoft is entirely to blame for it's failure. Microsoft didn't own the developer of azurik, so no doubt they signed a contract with a budget and release date in mind. Halo was in rough shape a couple months before release but ended up coming together as a classic. Bungie was definitely the more talented development studio.

I'm paraphrasing but "I want to be sure to convince you I am qualified to review this game" says the channel called "The Azurik Fanatic" that I just found because I randomly remembered this game from my OG Xbox and was curious what someone else's thoughts were on it. Forgive me if I don't just take your word for it based on your channel name. Very informative and well set up coverage. Thanks chief.

I'm trying to find people who also love this game because I wanna make a group of people that might be down in recreating this game on dreams for PS4/PS5 I tried to do it myself but I gave up after just making his face😂😂😂 and I only have a controller so I need to get the wands if I wanna do any sculpting but I do wanna find some people who might be interested in recreating Azurik rise of perathia, and I don't mind adding anything you might want because you've played it so long and I thing you know what it needs to be finished, Azurik didn't get a fair chance when It was first published because it was rushed but I think with a team of people it could be finished.

Azurik came out 20 years too early. If it came out today it would be a perfect fit to other 3rd Person action RPG games of this era. Something close to the Horizon Games.
