This is such a special song for me as it was the very first song I learnt to play on the Hammond. I really hope you enjoy.

it's very hard to cover such an iconic song. we have seen dozens of attempts. This is the best one I've ever heard
Cheers Perry
I'll second that!
Same here
Yes. Awesome
Very well done Mister
This dude’s voice is so soulful! And his keyboard skills are off the rails
Cheers Greg. Glad you think so
The Best tribute ever
@@LachyDoley How do you pulled off singing and the organ lines in between the vocals at the same time?
@@tieukhavu8832 Well it was one of the first tunes I learnt on the Organ. Just had to then practice singing it over and over
@@LachyDoley ok
When the song started I was like "oh they nailed the organ sound down perfect". Then I was, "wait, that's too perfect of a match. Is this real?". Then the guy started singing and I'm "FAKE! No way he sounds like that".
OH... MY... That was absolutely breathtakingly good. It's a modern recording of the original, that's as close as I can make it out to be. Incredible in every way. The subtle distortion on certain notes, the speed of the Leslie, the tone of every instrument, including the voice, the recording space, the compression, the mix. All of it is dead on perfect. I'm responsible for a couple dozens of the video views, and I'm not done hitting replay. Wow.
Lachy Doley Group is amazing live. ;)
Wow man so glad you enjoyed it. I really wanted to be faithful to the original on this one
. . . Never has anyone taken apart the B-3 and played with such power. Tone and grace.
Phenomenal experience hearing the group . In every aspect. In every video. Top notch musicianship! Wow!
Throw in the clavi. . . You have your own universe! It's out of bounds!
I'm over 65 . I'm getting out my hx3! This is so moving! Thank you! Superb !
Same here. Awesome rendition of a classic. He nailed it.
Wonderful tribute, Lachy. Definitely one of the most iconic songs of the 60s and one of my favourites too. Gary Brooker was a legend.
Sure was. Cheers

Эта музыка украдена у великого человека,музыканта,а они такие довольные ,типа мы создали шедевр.Фу какая чушь.
This is music, real music to the ears and to the soul! Can never be forgotten once touched by its magic spirituality.
I remember when this song came out. I immediately went out and purchased the album. Yes, I still have it! 55 years ago!
As did. I was 10 and I still my album too.
@@daviddaniels4075 I was almost 15.
Me too.
wonderfull
I've always said I wanted this played at my funeral. Sounds morbid to say but damn....can you blame me? Awesome work Lachy!
I have a file of music for my funeral, This song appears on it twice. Well, three times now. It's going to be a long service. LOL
I've booked "Up in a Puff of Smoke".
I have also always wanted this played at my funeral.
Lachy, absolutely amazing version of this musical masterpeace 🎵🎵👍👍!
I remember my father purchased this song on a vinyl single in Japan 1967, where he was working at the time !
This vinyl single was running on our analogue record player 24/7 😁 !
Regs from Sweden/Kent
Hey thanks Kent. Cheers
Beatiful melody.....
cAPTURED THE ORIGINAL SPIRIT OF THE SONG, BRILLIANT!!!
Can’t get any better, excellent excellent excellent. Thanks.
Cheers Gerry
Lachy Doley is a wonderful musician/singer! Beautiful Tribute to the Late Gary Brooker. :-)
Cheers Art
Such an incredible tribute! Best version of this song since the original.
Wow so kind. Thanks for the article too :-)
@@LachyDoley You are immensely talented, sir. Thanks for the music!
It is funny how a song can stir such emotional memories when you are old. Absolutely beautifully performed. Thanks!
P.S. This is one of the most hauntingly BEAUTIFUL songs, all because of the organ. I never tire of listening to it
Brings back great memories of my carefree days
@@juliepreston5535 Ah, yes
The sad truth is that the organ part was composed by Matthew Fisher who was denied any royalties or song writing credit before 2005 by Gary Brooke. Brilliant singing by Gary Brooker and Lachlan….
DAMN GOOD DOLEY. AND the ENTIRE band. Couldn't have done a better job for the tribute. Played as is... because that is the way to do a tribute. And to honor him... in a three piece suit as you would be going to his funeral. HE was the man... and so are YOU.....................................
Thanks so much Don
Wow! Amazing voice😮 i' m kat from the phillipines
I once played in a German band (I'm Dutch) and one of the band members was English and he sounded exactly like Gary Brooker... he even looked a lot like him!
As I play organ, I know this excellent song since a long time.
Your interpretation is wonderful because It's important for the best sound to have a Hammond with a leslie.
And add the voice, the bass and the drums is better.
I am lucky because I have seen Gary Brooker in Paris in 2015.
I subscribe to your channel.
🎹 👍 🇨🇵
Damn dude, You NAILED it! Big props to you and your band on such a fine re-creation of this wonderful and iconic piece of music.
Damn. Woow. Damn. Incredible
The best cover of this iconic song i have ever heard, you have hit it perfectly and the soul of it, you have captured it's essence perfectly
Love the version, but I have to say I was not expecting that voice! You look like a geography teacher but sound like an angel! Outstanding.
Wow thanks mate. Thought I'd go a 3 piece suit for this one :-)
chanson de tous les âges.Elle résiste aux changement des générations,
I didn't expect him to sound like that
There´s a lot of tribute cover versions out these days after Gary Brooker´s sad demise, but this one definately stands out, and your soulful and virtuous interpretation, does the original version worthy justice..!
Wow thanks so much
Lachy is in a league by himself. Soulful voice is very underrated. Awesome.
Beautiful! Thank you, Lachy. R.I.P. Gary Brooker.
Thanks Asko
Stop rocking...go elegance😂👍👍👍
Seen some clips of you...you're ripping that Hammond man !! Would love to hear you playing some proggy stuff of your own !!
One of my all time favorite bands you sound great Lachy
aivan ihana tulkinta ..tykkään hammond saundista ja lulusta
P.P.S. I literally JUST discovered you-guys, & am blown away!!! I've been the lead vocalist in several bands, mostly rock, so i Know talent
Best cover we've heard of this song!!! Awesome job 👌👍🫶🥰🥰😍😍
Hey thanks Candace
Ok, not sure how to say this. In my humble opinion this is his best performance period. I went through all of his covers and they simply do not measure up to this. Maybe it’s the song? All of his other performances are fantastic, however just seem hollow compared to this. Maybe I’m wrong? Anyways amazing rendition. Beautiful and timeless.
Fantastic, Gary has party in heaven now 🎹🎶🎶🙏
RIP Gary. Legend
Magnífica interpretación.
Desde Madrid, felicitaciones.
One of the best interpretations ever....thank you Lachy
This sung is a Masterpiece sung by the late and great Gary Brooker Procol Harum RIP.

J'adore toutes les versions et celle-ci en particulier !
Brilliant rendition Lachy, absolutely loved it. We're saying goodbye to so many of our 60's & 70's greats now, too many. Thank you for keeping such classics alive. RIP Gary.

Why havnt I heard of this man before until now today Jan 2023 he feels his instrument and his instrument is one of the all time greatest a Hammond keep it up my man your voice is great and your playing is even better
Hard to tell the difference from the original. Major applause!!
Wow, this is fantastic!!
One of the best covers of the song! Amazing and loved it 🙏🙏👍
Awesome !!!!! Following you guys for years ..... Thx for al these musical highlights .... 👋👋👌👍
Absolutely beautiful. What a beautifully honoring tribute, in every way. Lachy, i've turned so many friends onto you, and I always say, "he writes brilliantly, and delivers it in such a way that you think you're listening to a song you've heard 100 times on the radio, and yet he wrote this. That's how deeply rooted he is in authentic blues." Thanks for delivering such peace inducing tunes. Also, can you ask Jackie what model is the beautifully warm and washy riveted crash cymbal he's playing? Thanks. Cheers! -Ron
Thanks so much for spreading the word Ron. Really appreciate it :-) Love the riveted cymbal
You nailed it.
I just sat and cried.
Well done. You never get tired of this iconic song.

Goosebumps!
Ciao ragazzi complimenti siete fantastici...👏🌞🎸
One of the best songs in the NAM s war ever ❤ by an excellent singer to display 🇺🇸🇬🇧👍☀️😊
Lembro dessa música desde criança, quando meu saudoso pai a ouvia aqui no Brasil... Anos depois assisti Nick Nolte pintando uma tela com ela de trilha, momento único... Ontem a cantarolei e acho que o YT me ouviu, recomendando-a hoje. Meu muito obrigado por essa jóia que eu ainda não havia escutado 💎🎵🎶🥹
Wow. Yeah it’s a beautiful song!
@@LachyDoley sim!
Magnifique j'adore. ❤❤❤
Du pur bonheur !! Merci Procol Harum et B3 for ever.
А ведь у него просто потрясающие руки!!! Он рожден для фортепиано - для клавиш!!!
Sin dudas una magnífica interpretación de estos músicos y su cantante , congratulaciones , saludos desde AGS, MEX , 29,4, 2022
A song that should never end, and never will. Thanks Lachy.

what a tribute! this is the warmer shade of Procol...
R.I.P. Gary Brooker...
Nice. Thanks so much
sehr schön,gefällt mir echt sehr gut.
You did a phenomenal job covering A Whiter Shade Of Pale. As a longtime fan of Procol Harum, who saw them 4 times live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, I think this is a fitting tribute to Gary Brooker. May Gary Brooker rest in peace. Cheers! ✌️
Wow very kind :-)
Sends chills up my back man. Your ability to play keys is unparalleled in modern times. I'm currently blowing up your Spotify when I'm in the car and absolutely LOVING every note. Please, if you're ever setting a UK tour up, consider a northwest gig (Manchester, Liverpool etc). I'm there. I'd love to meet you and shake your hand
Wow thanks so much. Only one show this year in the Uk. Dec 9 2022 in Devizes.
@@LachyDoley another time then. Seriously though, Im a big fan of the Hammond organ sound and put you up with Jon Lord, Booker T, Don Airey and Rick Wakeman. Brilliant stuff.
Damn it, man. How in hell did you get that organ to sound so spot-on? Gorgeous.
I'm only 10 seconds into this. I suppose I'd better listen to the rest now.
Haha. They are just a beautiful instrument
This is wat you call 'perfection'. What a fitting tribute.
Wow thanks so much
🥰 A beautiful tribute.🙏 Beautiful song!
I love your version.❤ Very talented group!👍
This is unreal... just an amazing performance that honors and builds on the original.
Estão de parabéns todos eles.
TERRIFIC, BUT THE FADE OUT AT THE END WAS UNEXPECTED
