I see on your site you only have really high end EV's. You also do not have any hybrid plug-ins. It would be great to get your take on average Joe EV's, used EV's and hybrid plug-ins. We just purchased a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Plug-in. We are a family of 5. I have wanted a EV for a long time now, but still cannot quite talk the wife into a full EV yet. One is due to the pricing and the small car for families like ours that will just not fit. So you could say the Pacifica is wetting our feet in the EV world.

I'm old, and possibly dense, so I don't understand what the Chargepoint's external charging network has to do with whether one purchases their home charger..?
For the price and options I had to go with the JuiceBox 40. What won me over was the customer service in trying to purchase one of the two. The ENEL X customer service was amazing. I called and chatted with them and their knowledge and assistance was above normal. I tried contacting via phone, email, and could not get a chat several times with charge point. I got nothing. It seems they are not very helpful. I tried all of this during operation hours for charge point and I felt that if I cannot even get Assistance in purchasing a device I surely would not get support when I really needed. it. I feel over all the Juice Box 40 is great! One it's made in USA, they give military discounts (Charge point does not) and it's customer server as far as what I have experienced and read about is far superior. The price and sales that they have also are much better than Charge Point. Charge point might have a large network, but that does not help me when I'm charging from home.

I few times I called ChargePoint I was able to get a person on the phone quickly that was knowledgeable and helpful. The JuiceBox 40 is a great charger as well, and that is great to hear that it sounds like you had an excellent experience with Enel X customer service. If anything to add I’d say check with your local utility company to see if they offer incentives for level 2 charging. In WA, ours offer a $500 credit on both those chargers making it pretty affordable. Good review man.

Juicebox has a 48 amp hardwired version that accepts 4 gauge thhn wire. Charge point only accepts 6 gauge max wire size. Not recommended on a 60 amp circuit in warmer climates.
Can anybody compare the Wifi stability between the two? I'm installing in a condo parking garage that has okay wifi (middle bars on my phone) and wondering if one would be better than the other for a usable wifi signal.
The juice box comes in 48 amp hardwire model. I'm thinking if you ever get to a higher charging point you'll need to upgrade your circuit. Your talking about hours of constant amps. Talk to a electrician before you get beyond 48 amps. Fast charging at charging stations use a different system I believe. AC and DC at the same time. Anyway I talked to an electrician and charging at rates higher than 48 amps for long periods of time, like you would charging a vehicle can be very taxing on a normal residential electrical system
The juice box pro has a 48 amp model which is basically the same as the charge point as there is no car on the market that can take more than 48 amps , but one feature that only the juice box and the gen 2 Tesla connector have that pushes it over the edge is circuit load sharing meaning, if u have two EVs, I can install two chargers in one beaker, and the chargers spilt the load automatically, with all kinds of custom configurations, to tell which chargers has higher priority etc...
Great point. When my wife’s ICE dies, it will certainly be replaced by an EV. I’m not running another 60 A circuit to the front of the house with the current cost of 6 AWG copper. This is a an important and cost saving feature!
Quick question. May feel like a dumb question. Which is more quiet? I have a charger I got when the Volt was first released, and now with my newer electric car, using it, sounds sooo loud. Just wondering how quiet each may appear to be.

@@evunite1 I had a Evlink Schneider Electric 30A charger until last week. It hummed very loudly while charging. That is why I was asking. It worked but was loud. I recently sold it and got a Juicebox 40amp model. I was considering the chargepoint flex, but Amazon gave me a discount so got it for just over $400. if they were the original price, I would of went with the chargepoint.

Smart home integration is definitely not necessary, but it is a nice feature to have (especially if you have other smart home integrations at your home). Overall though, I don't think Smart Home compatibility should be a big factor when making your decision on which home EV charger to buy. Hope that helps! Some Tesla's can accept up to 11.5 kW which is 48 amps. An S with the high amperage charger can accept up to 17.2 kW. I think the 50 amp rating is a gimmick so ChargePoint can say "ours is bigger than yours". It really just screws up circuit size calculations. Of course for me and a lot of other EV owners it is a moot point. My i3 can only accept 32 amps. I just moved and my new power company is giving an incentive to purchase a new Level 2 charger. I am going to get the highest amperage charger I can get. I don't like the term "future-proofing". It won't be long before you'll need a second feeder line run to your house just to accommodate even faster charger speeds. I would prefer the Enel X Juicebox 48 amp charger but it is backordered for an undetermined length of time. I like the Juicebox software better for home use.

There are already several EVs currently on the market that accept 50amp charging, and that number will likely continue to grow as more and more electric vehicles are released. Having a charger that can charge at a higher power (amperage) ensures that you can charge your EV at the fastest possible rate. You should be able to find the charging specs for any EV online. If you are going on a longer road trip it is convenient to be able to charge at any of the away from home ChargePoint charging stations around the country and track all of your charges from your ChargePoint account. May not be as important now, but will likely become a more valuable feature as the EV's become the primary transportation mode. Hope that helps! Happy charging!

I got an open box ChargePoint Home Flex for $339 shipped on eBay the other day so I went with that.

honest question...why do I care if chargepoint has a large network? Do I get a discount if I use the chargers since I own a home charger?

Currently, the Chargepoint is $1130 (!), and the Juicebox is $600. Is the Chargepoint really worth twice the cost of the Juicebox?
Really there are none available, that’s why the double pricing, and then it’s still back ordered.

I had humming with a cheap Lectron, but it wasn’t coming from the unit. It was the plug and wiring.

Why do I care about whether a company has a charging network when I'm installing a home charger?
I think the idea is Chargepoint is a much bigger company and therefore more likely to stay in business and continually support the product.
