No sparkling vampires? What are you talking about? Watch the movie again. When the Frog brothers come up from the vampire hideout, they're covered in vampire blood....sparkly vampire blood. On top of that, the vampire that dies during the "death by stereo" scene is VERY sparkly.
Joel Schumacher directed it. everything he does has a gay aura about it. look what he did with Batman & Robin, nipples on the batsuit with big codpieces, C'mon?
Ive always thought 'The Lost Boys' was more about. drugs (heroin) in my opinion, it just felt like it made more sense, with the story line. For example when Micheal is transforming, for example him staying in bed during the day, his personal hygiene, peer pressure to drink the blood which is symbolic of taken drugs, the lost boys themselves are the dealers and Max is the main head the big dealer/supplier has anyone else ever thought this to be the case? it does not matter because what a classic ... My brother and I must have watched this amazing film over 300 times, we absolutely loved this film, still to this day is one of my favorite films ever. The film industry sure do not make them like they used to.... Peace
loved this movie. my sons and I watched the movie over and over again. love the very end when the old man remarks about all the damn vampires.. classic.. classic..

Movie night my father came home with the tape 📼 it was vhs back then and we were all saying😱 ( oh no not another movie that sucks) but a couple minutes into it, we knew it was a winner🤗 and till this day I still watch and enjoy my LOST BOYS # Thy shall not fallll‼️
I watched the movie during my first trip to the US in 2019, on my way from Yosemite to Santa Cruz. It definitely made the experience all the more special and the movie, along with its soundtrack became one of my favourites :)
This is when movies didnt go over the top. They don't make um like this anymore. The substance is far more important, than over-the-top scenes. What I call: Overkill. Best vanpire movie, ever. I can't watch the junky vanpire movies, they come out with, these days. Again: overkill.
I LOVE this film. It is one of the few vampire films that stays true to the Gothic vision of the vampire as a villain instead of a romantic sex symbol. The film is an excellent balance of horror and light humor, and it’s meta-analysis of the conventions of vampire literature is presented very well. Diane Weiss, Kieffer Sutherland, and the two Cories turn in great performances.
I'm so glad I'm 40,😃I got to see this great movie at the right time and in the right time. One of my all time favourites! It was soooo cool , that were great times
A bit of a stretch comparing the gay community to vampires. Especially the people killing, blood drinking type of vampire. Not sure that the latter could be construed as "misunderstood".
I never picked that up watching the Lost Boys. I always thought of the girl of being like a sister to some of the guys. It seemed more of a street gang that turned family that turned vampire!
I always wanted a Lost Boys-Fright Night crossover vampire horror movie in the same universe! In The Lost Boys movie, did the grandfather know about the existence of vampires all that time? If so, the grandfather being a vampire hunter would make a great prequel.
They made a comic series based in The Lost Boys universe and it apparently tells of grandpa being a vampire hunter as well as vampire himself. He knew who Max was and was trying to find him for years. Being a vampire himself, he ate animals and it's said that that's the reason he has all those trophies in his house. The sax man (formally named The Believer in the comic) is in it too and is also a vampire hunter.

Actually, I was one of those kids who was hanging out in Santa Cruz when Lost Boys was filmed. I even got to dance around one of the flaming trashcans during the outdoor festival scene for $50 or whatever they paid us (I think it was $50), but I don't think I actually made the cut into the film. But more interestingly was my meeting Jami Gertz one day while the filming was going on. I was on the boardwalk playing around with a bit of jewelry I was working on. It was a small stick with bronze wire wrapped around it, and a crystal wrapped on one end. Jami happened to walk by, and so I said Hi, and asked her if she could guess what it was. She was actually very nice, and we chatted for a minute or two. She didn't guess so I told her it was a 50 Megawatt Interdimensional Thought Laser. We both had a laugh over it and having a good time until ... guess who showed up? Yup. Jason Patric. So he comes storming over and starts yelling at her ... "What are you hanging out with this guy for?!" (you know I was one of the hippies in town in those days, so I was obviously beneath the Stars, blah blah blah). Anyway, he scooped her up and dragged her off, and that was that. Never saw her again. Honestly, I think she liked liked me. :)
The movie was released in 1987, we can assume this was at least a year after filming. With inflation, the $50 today would be worth somewhere in the region of $113, no one pays extras this kind of money, especially for dancing around a burning trash can for a couple of minutes. Either your memory is waaay off, or I'm calling BS.
Was at the boardwalk for the films 30th anniversary this last year. The beach started to flood (tide was coming in) and ruin the screening and all of a sudden everyone teamed together and built this sand wall to block the surf. It was crazy and awesome

Also having seen in an interview with Billy Idol, HE was to be the original Spike in Buffy! Sadly however, he had that almost fatal motorbike crash which is why James ended up with the part. Spooky thing though is that they are both 5'9 1/2." I am not being random, this follows the last part of the documentary. I grew up with The Lost Boys. It is still my favourite film of all time and I dread it being a remake!
One of my favourite films growing up. Also, as for the sequels, there is only one, and it's a comic that came out sometime back. Check it out if you haven't.
This movie is the quintessential reason why I was so grateful to watch this movie at 10 years old. It had and still has such an impact on me and reminds me how awesome my childhood truly was.
My favourite movie of all time! I felt a cool idea for a sequel could have been focused on Michael and Star. With Star (getting) pregnant that night she was with Michael in the cave, and they have a child. Because the child was conceived when Star was half vampire, the child itself is born with vampiric attributes.....
I’ve literally watch this movie multiple times a day! Usually I’ll turn it on before bed since I know it so well it’s usually easily to fall asleep not because it’s boring! This is only all time favorite movie! Just overall great from the cast to the type of movie and way of being made!
Now after hearing what the original story was supposed to be I'm glad they changed it many years ago and we got this awesome vampire horror movie it is today.
Grew up with this movie in the bay. Did Santa Cruz a lot. Love love love this movie and watch it twice a year. This movie and the movie The Fog are responsible for making me want to live somewhere on the pch in Northern California. That gloomy vampire vibe is all over the place for me there and I love the shit out of it. Not to mention it's an absolute motorcyclists Paradise. I lived on Maui for 15 years, and I'd rather be in Half Moon Bay despite the froggy year-round 50 and 60 something Degree Days
Homo-erotic? I think we try too much to color everything with political and social allegory instead of just enjoying the fuckin’ movie. All art is interpreted by the viewer.
more than art, everything is subject to bias. unless you have complete full knowledge, all of what you would call information is very much reinforcing bias either knowingly or unknowingly. for instance every time you see a white swan you subliminally learn that all swans are white. but black swans do exist. as for the art world, imo the more interpretations one can draw from a work... the better. ambiguity IS the essence of art in some ways.
no think about it you couldn't be overt/explicit unless it's violence so such themes are suggested but clearly there... when you watch the movie with maturity. Like, Dawn of Living Dead want just a zombie sequel it was about the mindless consumerism taking over thru malls. And now we have Amazon in real time convenience. Just some perspective
Will always hold a high nostalgic as well as classic value to me.. FYI Haim WAS in the second, but it turned more so into a cameo. I'm pretty sure he was supposed to have more of a role in the thirst, I mean third. But his death, well, killed it. Soundtrack, cast, script... All of it, perfect.
And rip Corey Haim, I had no idea he was dead but then again, it makes sense why I haven’t seen him in anything for many years. Peace man, legend of the 80s
It’s always been thought to have homoerotic themes and even the director encores it Just cause you have an issue with it doesn’t mean it’s not there Soz
Nor does it change the greatness of this film. Besides, I don't think it was promoting any kind of "gay agenda" (whatever that means) but was rather exploring homosexuality in a somewhat clandestine manner.
capitancoolo1 promoting the gay agenda means promoting the idea that it's okay to be a homosexual and if that's what you get from this movie at told me a lot about you

FrightNight the LostBoys and NearDark were the best vampire movie's of the 80's not forgetting Vamp.
Indeed!
Mike Lykan Yaassss!
Mike Lykan wow someone remembers vamp. Awsome classic.
Blue Sky Yeah Grace Jones was a badass looking vampire..lol
Vamp, a forgotten gem!
Near Dark is also great, I don't like Fright Night so much because of the annoying dude with the squeaky voice.
*This was a good movie ✅😀*
It was
@@Will_Smiley what you mean
It was a real vampire movie because it had no sparkling vampires.
LOL,Twilight XD
No sparkling vampires? What are you talking about? Watch the movie again. When the Frog brothers come up from the vampire hideout, they're covered in vampire blood....sparkly vampire blood. On top of that, the vampire that dies during the "death by stereo" scene is VERY sparkly.
You didn't see them in the daytime.
Neutron Pixie he's talking about the gay movie twilight. Which are sparkling fairies.
As I always say, vampire should not be covered in sparkles, they should be covered in blood.
Ben stiller would've ruined the film.
princessaz79 ABSOLUTELY WOULD HAVE RUINED IT
Hell yeah
I agree
I mean it probably would have worked. I thought the same about Affleck as Batman, same as Ledger as Joker... Now I just give em a chance.
Totallym kiefer sutherland was amazing. Even a remake of the movie was a bad idea
Too bad these kids were working for monsters. If I were a parent I wouldn't take them anywhere near California.
I always thought Michael looked like Jim Morrison. Great movie though. Couldn't bring myself to watch the 2nd movie.
Or you know, Michael Hutchence aka the lead singer from INXS, who also had a song on the soundtrack.
Samantha Donaldson it's not that bad lol
Yes but NOBODY played him better than Val Kilmer!!!
Yes & they had that Jim Morrison poster in the cave 😂
Maybe that’s why David wanted Michael so bad ;)
Now this movie is an 80s classic! And I would say one of the best vampire movies ever made.
Michael star of David.
Edgar and Allen Frog from Edgar Allen Poe.
I'd love for a relationship of all the names in the movie.
This is one of those movies that I can still watch whenever it comes on TV
One of the best Vamp movies made
oni zuka sorry, hit accidentally while scrolling.
Sorry
One of my favorite movies of all time.:)
Jason Bean The guy with the saxophone stole the show 🎷
This movie and "Near Dark" are two of my all time favourites!
KOB KOB, I believe that was Danzing!
the 1980's...when vampires were actually scary..........good times
Yep agreed. Awesome movie. Still got my original vhs copy of it.
Uh, the gay vampire thing is going a bit far. Evil Knievel couldn't even make that jump.
bob, lots of people pierced their ears back then. If you study the movie closely, you will see, it's a movie--A movie about vampires.
Aww shut up. They were kinda fruity
you are ridiculous Bob Blow. The movie isn't about homosexuals. Just because you are doesn't mean everything else is.
Stormeyworld
It's pretty gay, dude
Joel Schumacher directed it. everything he does has a gay aura about it. look what he did with Batman & Robin, nipples on the batsuit with big codpieces, C'mon?
My dad showed me this when I was 4 years old, loved it ever since and turned me on to The Doors
There was a poster of jim Morrison in the cave i think
During the 80’s they should have made a doors movie featuring Jason Patric. He resembles Jim Morrison
Peace
yeah, nowadays, it's all about emotional sparkling vampires.....[insert puke sound]
ironically the boy that the movie is based on they are gay. look it up. just like interview with a vampire
+THY KINGDOM COME/ THE DAY OF THE LORD book
THY KINGDOM COME/ THE DAY OF THE LORD Lmao...troll.
Ha yeah your right. only if tinkerbell was normal size, permently she is the one for Peter really.
One of the better... you mean one of the best... still top 5.
loved this movie. my sons and I watched the movie over and over again. love the very end when the old man remarks about all the damn vampires..
classic.. classic..
A classic... And a movie along with the Goonies. I passed it down to my own kids.Who they have all watched both 100s of times
MAN‼️ This is my favorite movie of all time🤗🤗.
Deneen Smith

Evie McCain *Hahaha, right?!*
I watched the movie during my first trip to the US in 2019, on my way from Yosemite to Santa Cruz. It definitely made the experience all the more special and the movie, along with its soundtrack became one of my favourites :)
Corey Heyman actually did make an appearance in the sequel to Lost Boys. He actually became a vampire. They showed him towards very the end
Without the original Fright Night there would of never been Lost Boys...
The best part about this movie was hands down Corey Haim's trench coat wardrobe in the Frog Bros comic book store.
I'm so glad I'm 40,😃I got to see this great movie at the right time and in the right time. One of my all time favourites! It was soooo cool , that were great times
This movie has been my definition of "cool" for most of my life...
A bit of a stretch comparing the gay community to vampires. Especially the people killing, blood drinking type of vampire. Not sure that the latter could be construed as "misunderstood".
Mark Fry
I was thinking the exact same thing.
The vampire scene has always had a loose connection with representation of gay communities. Look at Interview with a Vampire as a prime example.
I never picked that up watching the Lost Boys. I always thought of the girl of being like a sister to some of the guys. It seemed more of a street gang that turned family that turned vampire!
Exactly!
The director of the film, Joel Schumacher, is actually gay. So there any subtle LGBTQ references in the movie were probably not entirely accidental...

@@Smasho8000 wow there is a whole Lost Boys comics universe. Fright Night did as well..
There could be a Lost Boys+Fright Night television series if there was enough material in those comics.
Today's Twilight holds no candle to this.
I'm probably one of the only people in the first world who hasn't seen any of the Twilight movies....but I actually do plan to watch them. Maybe today, just to see what all the fuss is about.

R.I.P. Joel Schumacher
poor haim he always looked so gone
It would be great to find a place for Feldman in Stranger things season 3.
In the ground
Left Behind oop
Best vampire film. My all time favourite film.
Loved the two Corey's. Rip Corey H ❤
i’ve been watching this since i was 7. i know every single detail in this movie.
A fucking classic
I watch this movie at least a couple times a year.
Rhynne Ross 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Vb Wyrde...I liked your story...thanks for sharing it!!
Vb Wyrde Very cool story and at least you made her laugh
i slipped her the sausage under the bleachers
The movie was released in 1987, we can assume this was at least a year after filming.
With inflation, the $50 today would be worth somewhere in the region of $113, no one pays extras this kind of money, especially for dancing around a burning trash can for a couple of minutes.
Either your memory is waaay off, or I'm calling BS.
Jack Bauer is the reason I have the hots for vampires.
Was at the boardwalk for the films 30th anniversary this last year.
The beach started to flood (tide was coming in) and ruin the screening and all of a sudden everyone teamed together and built this sand wall to block the surf. It was crazy and awesome
Favorite vampire movie
interview with a vampire
@ s dew,,,dammit thats gonna be my second choice along with brams stockers dracula being 3rd,interview is so good but i didnt watch that movie 100 times when i was a kid after school like i did with lost boys...
Fright night 1984
I love this movie! And Corey Haim💙
“Cry little sister” hits different 🥴
the saxophone guy, lol
Just saw him at chiller, he still believes ☺
haha no way!
Saxophone guy is Tim Cappello, an actual musician that has played with Peter Gabriel and Tina Turner. Watch any live concert of hers, you'll see Tim on stage playing sax and keyboards.
valen thayne hahaha damn now thats funny!!!
I made my own meme of that once with a picture I snapped on my phone. Its one of my favorite pieces of the movie!!! Danzig meets Michael Bolton lol
To this day it's still my favorite movie of all time. I can quote every line verbatim. "It's not cheese. It's not garlic. I bet ya hate garlic don't ya!?!"
My favourite film. R.I.P Hiem. Huge respect Feldman, so sorry for both. your bad experiences. Take power and respect from all your fans . You made a masterpiece even still today
best vampire movie ever!
I can remember seeing this coming to theaters back in the 80s laying in the floor watching a 27 inch big screen box tv..lol people of today wont ever exspiernce the life i lived in the 80s best time of my life stone washed holy pants knees cut out an eastland shoes an an a big loose t-shirt an denim levi jacket..An a walkman cassette player with some guns an roses...lord them days are gone...god bless u all...
G.O.A.T Vamp Movie
'Near Dark' also came out the same year, directed by Kathryn Bigelow. It is also considered the; G.O.A.T Vampire movie in one way or another!
One of my favourite films growing up.
Also, as for the sequels, there is only one, and it's a comic that came out sometime back. Check it out if you haven't.
Just a timeless CLASSIC.. long live the 80's.... what an incredible cast! Perfect!
rob lowes abs lol i always questioned that. why he got a poster of a guy in his room.
This movie is the quintessential reason why I was so grateful to watch this movie at 10 years old. It had and still has such an impact on me and reminds me how awesome my childhood truly was.
Still in my top 3 favorite movies of all time.
I saw this movie in theaters with my mother when it premiered. It was an amazing experience. I am now 38 years old.
My favourite movie of all time! I felt a cool idea for a sequel could have been focused on Michael and Star. With Star (getting) pregnant that night she was with Michael in the cave, and they have a child. Because the child was conceived when Star was half vampire, the child itself is born with vampiric attributes.....
.....
That would be awesome.
Blade is half vampire
I could go for that but you forgot that Michael was a half vampire himself.
So, basically Blade, but white.
That soundtrack was EVERYTHING!
I wouldn’t mind a little something on Interview With the Vampire. It is my favorite vampire movie.
Jay Nevermore gotta love that movie. My personal Anne Rice inspired movie is Queen of The Damned
I’ve literally watch this movie multiple times a day! Usually I’ll turn it on before bed since I know it so well it’s usually easily to fall asleep not because it’s boring! This is only all time favorite movie! Just overall great from the cast to the type of movie and way of being made!
my favorite vampire film easily.
Now after hearing what the original story was supposed to be I'm glad they changed it many years ago and we got this awesome vampire horror movie it is today.
Awww Corey Haim.. I miss him
Yea me too that was so sad what happen to him
Awesome flick. Insanely underrated.
One of the best vampire movies ever made! Period.💯
I was just entering puberty when TLB came out, and I had the biggest crush on Brook McCarter. I was really sad when he passed away.
I am glad somebody took this movie seriously, nobody else did, does or ever will.
I love David and Michael together so much. Like I can’t even explain it.
I had that same Rob Lowe poster on my bedroom wall...hahahaha
One thing in Santa Carla I never could stomach..... ALL THE DAMN VAMPIRES
For the FULL story on the making of The Lost Boys, grab a copy of LOST IN THE SHADOWS; THE STORY OF THE LOST BOYS. Exceptional book!!!!!
Hey, I used to live in Santa Cruz! Best surf around
And rip Corey Haim, I had no idea he was dead but then again, it makes sense why I haven’t seen him in anything for many years.
Peace man, legend of the 80s
The Lost Boys was a great movie Rock and Roll Vampires anyone who thought the movie promote gay agenda is wrong
It’s always been thought to have homoerotic themes and even the director encores it
Just cause you have an issue with it doesn’t mean it’s not there
Soz
Nor does it change the greatness of this film. Besides, I don't think it was promoting any kind of "gay agenda" (whatever that means) but was rather exploring homosexuality in a somewhat clandestine manner.
Lost Boys was a great movie, nothing to do with sexuality only vampires it's not Twilight alright
capitancoolo1 promoting the gay agenda means promoting the idea that it's okay to be a homosexual and if that's what you get from this movie at told me a lot about you
