Great, my wife and I are in Saigon next week and finding good food is her favorite thing to do. She will be with me for 2 weeks there before she returns to the UK while I continue on my world bicycle tour. I was in Saigon recently after cycling there but left my gear in storage while I returned to the uk to sort some things out. Can’t wait to get back out there. All the best you two with your channel.

I have now seen over ten travel channels on YT. You guys are on the air b n b spectrum. You spend more money than most backpackers, but you don't stay at 4 star hotels. Then there's the hostel travelers. Finally one crazy guy who lives on 5 Dollars a day and avoids the tourist spots. I like to couch-surf if I can and pay NOTHING while living with locals. Sometimes I will rent a house for months at prices that Californians can only dream about.

One of the other differences between north and south pho is going to be in the sweetness. The south will sweeten the broth whereas the north tends to be a beefier flavor. I’m late to discovering your channel, but all this videos have me excited to move there in a couple years and have Vietnam as my “home.” I’ve loved it every time I’ve been there and excited to move into the next chapter of life!

Hey you two! New subscriber here from a couple days ago. Ya reeled me in with your Phu Quoc Video and Vietnam in general as I am heading in February with a one way ticket with my lovely lady and I. Just wanted to praise you guys for the style of videos you guys do! I am an avid traveler and have heaps of footage I am struggling to edit (surface pro 4 having issues with lag in the preview window). The whole package of what you guys do: From types/quality of footage, commentary, how you break down costs is gold! A gorgeous fun and funny couple. Keep it up you two!
P.S. You may have this already so pardon me if I have missed it but do you guys ever have a plan to talk about filming behind the scenes, the struggles you face as a couple in general or filming it? Just always curious about others dynamic out in the world.

After the Vietnam war a lot of southern Vietnamese fled Vietnam. That’s why 90% of Vietnamese restaurants outside of Vietnam are southern cooking. Growing up as a kid I always wondered why 9/10 pho restaurants I went too tasted so much sweeter then home pho. Another reason why a lot of western people acquired the southern sweet preferred taste for Vietnamese food. 8/10 Vietnamese people I meet in Canada or USA are southern also.

@@jigglypuff9007 I'm not a dipper (unless it's something that's made specifically to dip like banh xeo or when I'm eating Vietnamese fried spring rolls). Most of my family likes to dip their food into the sauces, me, I like it already flavored when I shove it into my mouth so I mix it in my bowl. That way my broth and noodle already has the flavor I want without it having to be dipped each time. Think about it - each time you dip, the flavor could change if you dip too little or too much. With it already mixed in the bowl, the flavor is consistent. LOL

My friend's late mother was from Hanoi and made pho that was very oniony(it was unbelievable). I believe pho is the vietnamese take on French onion soup, that the colonizers brought with them. I don't believe onions are native to SE asia.

Ohh nice. How did you two meet?
About four months ago, there were lots of big protests against the corrupt communist dictatorship that was about to sell Vietnam to china to make us become a slave colony of china. MILLIONS of people went down the streets to protest against this great betrayal against Vietnam.
Please help us fight against this great injustice. Thanks.
