    I got a 7" MTO Hendrik last year and mine are definitely higher than yours. Mine were crafted incredibly clean, and came with two green cloth bags to store them in - seems they stopped doing that. Also my stitching is very clean and I have Nick's and White's and the Wesco are the cleanest. IDK maybe Covid affected them and are cutting corners because that whooopsie on a $700+ boot is absolutely unacceptable.

    I definitely don't blame you for returning them. I'm not ultra-picky, either but there were just too many issues with them to ignore- especially in light of the price and wait time. I have a pair of Wescos and they are great, but I guess a dud can slip through once in while.

    I have to say, I worked for a cobbler and we did a lot of repair work on a bunch of PNW boots. From wildland firefighters to construction workers to ranchers we got a nice range of boots in with pretty heavy use. I have to say that the Wesco boots I saw and worked on failed before any other boot (mainly because of leather quality and stitching quality). Also, not to beat a dead horse, we also had a retail boot shop who sold Wesco's and it was known in the shop not to order boots from them. Sizing was usually off, lead times were redonk, and I saw first hand a couple of cut corners on their production end.
    I am sorry you don't seem happy with your boots. Its frustrating I am sure. Hopefully you get it sorted out.

      @@trinityhandmade3864 I’m glad you got your money back! I would recommend Frank’s Boots. That’s what my boss (master cobbler) wore most. He said they leave the boots on the last longer than any other company. I'm mainly wanting a Whites bounty hunter ornament toe cap black CXL and a Nicks urban logger 100 lug but came up on nice Wesco.. had to.. cause i won't do their wait times.. and most the used ones ppl get are either engineer or lace to toe, or real thick Jobmasters and i don't like any of those styles

      They are in fact 7” boots, Wesco measures from the ground up whereas most makers measure from the heel up. Weird!

  • @djhungzilla
    @djhungzilla 2 года назад +2

    Wesco measures their shaft height from the ground up. Whites/Nick's measures the true height of the shaft starting right above the heel, this does not include the heel height of the boot on the measurement. This means a 7" Wesco actually has a 6" shaft. If you want a true 7" shaft then you have to order an 8" Wesco.

      I dunno. My jobmaster is a 6" on the invoice, it has 8 overall eyelets. I get 5 inches above the heel, close to 7 inches ground up and finally 6 inches just in front of the heel, bottom of sole to the top. This seems to follow on my technically 10" jobmasters w/12 eyelets. 9" above the heel, 11" from the ground up and finally 10" from bottom of sole just in front of heel to the top. Just fyi.

    I would send those back. Considering they are a custom order and not off the shelf that boo boo from the sander and the inexact stitching are unacceptable. I think your choice looks great otherwise.
    For lace ups I prefer brown, the chromexcel. I like a Vibram sole and low stacked walking heel. For Wesco I would go with the Johannes but after seeing these, I’m going to order Nick’s Women’s Urban Drifter. Definitely in my price range which unfortunately the Role Club Underdogs aren’t. i have Mr lous in black horween horsehide and their harness boots in horween navy waxed flesh. waited for months but i did love them. Mr lous are quite sleek with the dr sole keeping a low profile; the harness boots are big, heavy, and boxy and benefit from an insole. the construction was clean and solid in my case. wish they would invest in a better website, kinda ridiculous how outdated it is. i don't see enough problems to return it, but i'm getting a drift that part of the boot collecting game is to be quite severe in judging imperfections. sounds like some people do returns frequently, but perhaps that scrupulosity would become apparent to the makers so they might raise the bar in order to stop hemorrhaging money.

      I had a pair of Mr Lou’s and I can say they were absolutely perfect construction and fit wise, I just didn’t love them on me personally. Can’t say anything bad about those boots or the boss 7500s I had too. If you had seen either of those pairs and this pair of over $700 MTO boots side by side there’s no way you would think they were from the same maker.

      Man I totally agree. I mean I have like loads of White’s that have all been finished better than these. Alden’s including rare shell all better than these. Nicks were better. Everything I’ve gotten from Indonesia has been better too. As one of the most expensive purchases I’ve made as far as boots go they are amongst the worst finished I’ve seen. IMO they are not worth the price. Good luck friend! Luckily they have a no questions asked return policy and supply a shipping label.

    I don’t know man, those QC issues trouble me a bit, not cause I care, for example that chunk missing in the heel might not be visible after you wear them a little, but the welt stitching was pretty sloppy and that one will be noticeable forever, specially on a stitchdown. I think I would wear them anyway but I would at least write and tell them, paying that much and waiting that long and then they come back looking like they were rushing to stitch them makes you question what were they doing for 8 months if they rushed to stitch my boots in 20 minutes? Anyway that’s my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Wesco are usually pretty good from a QC standpoint; of the boots I own I'd put mine above my White's, but just below my Viberg's.
    Those ones though, definitely shouldn't have got past QC. The height is fine, because Wesco measure from the ground up, but the heel looks like the guy sneezed unexpectedly while he was sanding it, and that outsole stitching looks very wonky. In fact, there are currently some boots on the Wesco seconds page that have been discounted due to 'irregular stitching' on the outsole that look better than your pair, so how yours made it out the factory, who knows?
    It's a real shame, particularly after such a long wait. And it's making me very nervous for my second pair, which should be shipping to me any day now. Fingers crossed!

    • @trinityhandmade3864
      @trinityhandmade3864  2 года назад

      I had two pairs previously, both engineers. The Mr. Lou’s were objectively perfect as far as QC goes. Higher than my Vibergs but those are just rough out Boondockers with the old spi so that’s not really fair. Of the 6 pairs of White’s I own these were worse than any of them easily.
      I agree, at over $700 and nearly 8 months I was kind like wtf am I looking at and why is it this bad haha. I did find out after filming this that the height was correct but for the other reasons and also then being nearly a full size too small for me I had to return them. Thankfully their return policy was very good and also quick. They offered a $300 credit and had they fit I probably would have kept them. I was told by them to take my same size as Mr. Lou and that was definitely not the move.
      I think it’s a combination of a lot of things, maybe even some new staff idk. I’ve seen some seriously uneven toe caps, like almost by an inch from the latest run of axe breakers. Unlike Wesco for sure, hopefully they get it turned around and hopefully your pair comes out ok!
