The reason the mercury does have guns on the top or bottom is because in the show all it's Maine batteries are located around the trench in the head and flight pods.
The first thing I did was create a fleet for Anabasis. Then did Adama vs Cain starting with the Beast, no damage to the hull. I then went as the Bucket and managed to destroy the Beast as the "Galactica" was destroyed. Sucks that you can't name a ship Galactica in skirmish. I'm currently doing a play through of Anabasis with 3 Mercury class, 4 Valkyrie class, the civilian freighter and 2 Celestras. On jump 8 now, lost the freighter, 2 transports and one Valkyrie, the Yashuman, last jump. I'm waiting for the end to do a proper Pegasus and Galactica run. Super excited happy to have bought this DLC.
@@RicardosGaming Yeah I just finished it last night and while I made it to Caprica, I lost 2 of the 3 Mercury class, poor Hades was destroyed as the fleet was jumping, half of the Valkyries and all small craft except one squadron of sweepers. The cylons swarmed me with about 20+ raider/heavy raider squadrons to my 6 viper squadrons. I did make it out with the Agathon sisters still alive and 3 transports. I had a little over 6,000 survivors with a total score of just over 39,000. That was my first successful run too. Now a moment of silence to the battlestars, Prometheus, Hades, Yashuman, and Rycon. So say we all.
The mercury suppose to have processing facilitys to build new vipers I wish it had more viper support than 2 and 2 support its kind like the mk2 Jupiter just upgrade in armor and 1 more missile bay but its a nice ship
Yea i did notice on the Jupiter if you don't loss the entire squadron they will replenish over time it will be faster if you put the ship in all defense that's why the new mercury class suppose to have processing facility to harvest free resources to make more vipers and send viper restock to other ships would be great in anabasis without using salvage points and only able to restock free vipers at a resupply and repair station threw anabasis to make it fair for the cylons what y'all think.
Battlestars with 2 utility ship slots really get on my nerves tbh. I would trade that slot for missiles or Vipers any day of the week. There are very few problems that cant be solved with 6-8 Viper II squadrons, but Ive never found myself wanting more random raptor units. You need one raptor for some missions, and the rest of the time you can spot and recon with huge swarm of Vipers. (in my very humble opinion)
I’d say they could make Mercury quite special, being able to disable a small amount of munitions and the ability to create more vipers (like you said), but I’m so glad they’re bringing it here!
I never understood the Minerva Battlestar it is expensive in terms of command points, its armour is non existent and its flack field is to narrow. Give me the cheaper Artemis any day. Yes it has less direct firepower but it has far greater survivability. Plus as it is cheaper, you can have more of them. This means more vipers! The tactic is to hang back under flack while the vipers do their thing, then move in with the heavy guns.
I have only been playing a few weeks, and naturally thought every battlestar upgrade was better, until recently. I actually now think the Artemis is surprisingly decent, and Ive started making a few again. They remind me of the Sherman tank - "good enough".
@@TheWtfnonamez I wouldn't call them a sherman myself. The more I used them the more I realised they are actually perfect. When you grade a warship you look at speed, armour and firepower. Increase one and it affects the other 2. The Artemis is perfectly balanced between the 3. Unlike for example the Jupiter which has far more firepower and armour but much less speed. The Artemis works best in packs, stacked vertically 3 high. This maximises defensive flack and offensive fire.

Mercury class is not available to play in the campaign. Its only available in a special scenario (Anabasis).

Excited to take the Bucket and the Beast in Anabasis. I imagine the old war cylon ships would be tissue paper compared to this.

I know exactly what you mean - a little unpowered - who knows Season 3 may elaborate on this outside of the Deadlock story arc

well it has 10 guns on the front and 7 on each side (24!!!!)
