Making a Model Railway Layout Sign

- Every layout has a name...every layout needs a sign to go with it!
In this video, we take a look at assembling Scale Model Scenery's layout plaque, which will eventually go on the wall in the loft, above Strathpeffer Junction itself.
They have produced a great product that's pretty easy to use, but to get a really smooth finish, it's best to use spray paint, give it plenty of coats and finish with gloss varnish.
If you're interested in getting a sign for your own layout, you can buy Scale Model Scenery's one here: bit.ly/2G9MbKC

Very nice....gonna get me one of those!
They're a great size. Not too big, but still eye catching. 😊
Looking really good David! Great little project and SMS seem to have made a nice easy kit. How long did it take to get cut and delivered? Might have to pick one up for my new layout when it comes together.
Thanks, Richard. It was about 3 days, from memory. It's a really nice one to build. Trickiest bit is lining up the letters!
Yet another different type of video. Thank you. Was interested in seeing the Kyle sign, as I was there last Tuesday. Weather could have been better, as the Royal Scotsman, was stabled there for the evening. Loco haulage, 66743.
I often try to keep an eye out for the Royal Scotsman as it passes just below our house. I sometimes pop down to catch a glimpse and wave at anyone on the rear observation deck. I love seeing loco-hauled action on the line. It must be a lovely ride on a beautiful dry evening. I've done the journey a few times, but only on a normal Scotrail service...not quite the same!
But cartoon you isn’t wearing shorts!
Hehe. That was supposed to be a joke within it. Well spotted! Lol 😉
Excellent Wee kit David, I'd have some fun with that CNC machine. I worked one in a previous life before retiring..................John.
Yeah. I've never really used it as much as I thought and now it's gathering dust. It's only a small one, but still does the job. I laterally used it for milling pcb. Worked quite well for that.
Very nice sign David! And a well-produced video. Best, John
Many thanks indeed, John.
Great video i wonder if they would be willing to do a FGW sign instead of a BR one for my layout.
Give them a shout. I've seen Justin do all sorts of bespoke things for folk (although I've never commissioned anything specific myself). He seems pretty open to it.
I have one of these for my layout, colworth hill. They are really nice to have up on the wall.
Yeah. They're a great size abs look good.
Excellent! I really like your Strath's shorts videos!
Wonderful feedback. Thank you 🙂

Good to have you back 👍
Thanks, Frank 😊👍🏻
Just looking to see where I could put one on Short Lane.
I may well make another...if the wife let's me put one up in the lounge! Lol
A full size Scotrail one would look good. You just need to convince her that it was her idea.
It would be awesome. I'll have to buy a bigger bunch of flowers next time, so something!
@@StrathpefferJunction might need to buy the whole florists mate lol
@@Castlebank_Sidings 😂 ...and the chocolate shop!
