Thank you for making this video. The NON sound model of the Class 252 Prototype HST Power car is now SOLD OUT at Rails of Sheffield. There will be a small batch of sound models to purchase. Act fast HST fans. When its gone, it gone.
Great looking power car, I’ve got one on order. Hoping that by the time it becomes available that there will also be a dummy power car and mk3 coaches in the prototype colours to be able to make up and run a full rake.
Locomotion Models mainly focus on producing models of locomotives that are preserved in the National Collection, so it's probably unlikely unless another manufacturer decides to bring them out.
You can run two power cars plus first class, restaurant and second class trailer has a set. You don’t have to go for a full rake. Has the HSTP ran with the three different types of Mk3 coach during it’s early life during the testing phase of the project before BR wanted a different cab arrangement and the front end design changed.
Hi Mike, yesterday I pre-ordered the DCC Sound version from Locomotion Models for £288 including £30 postage to Australia. So I am missing out on £50 British VAT 🙂 Unfortunately I overlooked the £25 option to pre-order just after I had paid the full balance. Hornby also made or makes this loco but this one looks different. Any idea when I can expect it on my doorstep ? Cheers, Jan de Jager, Queensland, Australia
Hi, it’s a shame the run of these has sold out, it is a popular class type so hopefully Bachmann will consider producing a class 43 now, they have the technology to do so, if feel an open goal has been missed producing a small run, many modellers will miss out.
@@GronkstonModelRailwayI have NEVER EVER heard it being referred to as HSDT until today and I remember watching the pair of them at the RTC in the late 1970s. This acronym has appeared out of nowhere as far as I can tell? Happy to be proved wrong. Looks like a great model though. I'll be having one 🙂
There really isn’t any point doing a dummy car, this is Bachmann after all and they want you to buy two and renumber one if your intention is to run has a full 7 or 8 car train. The cost of a dummy car will be close to the price of one which the motor and gear box anyway. Still getting one power car, you can make up the current set using an Hornby or Lima dummy.
@@GronkstonModelRailway there will be other options once the tie in with locomotion models and rails runs its course. That's how the business works with these tie ins to sell via other labels.
Correction @GronkstonModelRailway - this is a Locomotion Models commissioned model produced for them by Bachmann. They are only doing the one power vehicle because that is what is preserved in the National Collection, and that's what Locomotion Models specialises in.

The Flying TV returns !! Looks good.

Even 1 car is useful for modelling NDM and APT-P test trains with some of the RTC coaches that are around.
The prototype set ran with a repainted Mk1 catering vehicle initially, before the prototype Mk3 catering cars were delivered.

You should have quicker off the mark then! These were announced many months ago
@@AmazeTase If I knew it was a limited run I would have ordered one!
Awesome video
2:34 Hopefully those molding lines get fixed.
Is it just the camera lense, or is the gap between loco and first carriage alot bigger on the prototype than on the 43 on the rear?
The HST set is a close coupled set, whereas the HSDT doesn't have close couplings fitted, therefore the gap is bigger.
@hornbymag thanks for replying, can the HSDT be fitted with the close coupling system?
@@briansewell7263 The close coupling magnets, etc, can be fitted to NEM pockets 😊
MK 2 pullmans also carried this ‘reversed blue grey’ colour scheme.
Perfect Hope to see this in Australia thank you :)
Interesting 😮
As a collector of HSTs am I the only one to think that Hornby have missed a trick here?. Where are the coaches?.
Odds on for a class 43 in next years catalogue. Great looking model though.
HSDT?
High Speed Diesel Train.

@@blackjockofmangertonpele , lol that definitely would help it move. Me bad 😅

Shame that you can’t buy one! Other than the monster expensive sound fitted example.
Cracking models, much nicer if in 7mm though😉😉😉😀😀✌️💜
Still shouldve made both ends

£199... am I missing the rest of the video where the dummy and two coaches are shown off
