    Great model I hope in the future they do the other end, seems odd to only be doing one power car when most modellers will surely want both

    • @Robert-i3k3l
      @Robert-i3k3l Год назад +2

      Of course they will do another but £400 for two power cars without DCC sound and possibly £60-£80 for each coach. We need to stop buying. I wonder if Hornby is on its way out.

    The more I look at this unique model the more I want to get one, let’s hope Bachmann look into producing a class 43 HST in the future, it’s about time Hornby got some competition in this department.

    Fantastic I can't wait! Now all we need is a full rake of the original BR MK3 coaches and the non motorised 41002 power car.

    What about a LNWR Precursor 4-4-0 or a George the fifth class locomotive they are two locomotives that no one has tried yet (Hornsby had the 4-4-0 midland compound )so that shouldn’t be that hard to produce either one of the other two 👌.

    Im not usually into the very niche NRM models but this has certainly peaked my interest!
    A prototype HST for the 4mm market, finally!

  • @ausfoodgarden

    Why only 1 of a pair?

  • @Sebi1963
    @Sebi1963 Год назад

    What happened to the other prototype powercar? Would the NRM maybe build a replica of it and if the preserved 1 was 43001 and the 1st production power car was 43002 what was the other prototype powercar?

  • @JohnDye-c1v
    @JohnDye-c1v Год назад +2

    why not the pair ??

    • @nickg2762
      @nickg2762 Год назад

      It’s an NRM/Rails commission. It’s up to them to decide how many are built, who’s to say they won’t commission others?

    Hmm, I’m sure I saw a video where Kenneth Grange himself explained the change of the nose shape. Not sure who the original was designed by, but I thought that the nose had to be redesigned to accommodate the extra seat after ASLEF blacked it. And then Grange took it upon himself to change the livery… 🤔

    What would you run it with though or is it display cabinet only

      The formation should in our video with the EP sample is very close to accurate from one of its operating days at the GCR Nottingham - the EMT power car at the rear doesn't have the right number.

      There's great eastern stuff, LT&SR, LNWR/grand junction railway stuff.
      There's a whole host of things yet to make, then there's all the devolved national collections as it were, museums of scotland wales and northern ireland have their own fleets rife with stuff that would make great models

    Not sure how this was the beginning of 100mph travel - Electric locomotives on the WCML and Deltics on the ECML achieved that already!

  • @richardmarshall4322

    I have taken a gamble and ordered a pair. Expensive but with no prospect of a dummy any time soon the only option. Will have one renumbered as 002. I have a full rake of coaches i bought a while back from the 'farewell set'. Got them cheap for a relivery to match the power cars. I hope the livery on the power cars doesn't have the orange cantrail stripe. I suspect it might as it says 'as preserved'. By the way a small correction. The Class 55 Deltics were the first '100 mph railway' locos capable of continuous 100mph running. What is he talking about?

  • @StormmyStormmy
    @StormmyStormmy Год назад

    Hi, please produce a dummy car to go with this cool looking HST locomotive, maybe a couple of barrier coaches in the same livery, that would be a superb setup, Hornby should watch out as Bachmann look like they could take the HST crown, long over due in my opinion.

    • @StormmyStormmy
      @StormmyStormmy Год назад

      Is it me or does the livery on this loco look similar to the Western Pullman Bachmann have in their present range?

    Only producing the one power car ? Seems like a missed opportunity? Although nobody produces the coaches in the prototype livery either? I think this one is going to be for the collectors?

  • @lapiswake6583
    @lapiswake6583 Год назад +2

    41001 became 43000, 41002 became 43001.
    A shame the NRM brought the 125 group running to an end early, and made her just another stuffed exhibit again.
    Several questions though:
    - Will we see 41002 produced, and will it be a dummy or powered?
    - Will we see the pair done in their later version as 43000/43001 with full yellow ends?
    - Will we get prototype mk3s to go with them, either from Bachmann to go with this release, or from Hornby who already have many mk3s out already?

    • @Samstrainsofficially
      @Samstrainsofficially Год назад

      @@CecilValeProductionsthe caledonian single is, while not built by them in house, a survivng loco owned by them and run by them, now you just have to define the national collection. Is it things owned by any public body or just science museums group entities... you can fight that one out.

    I don’t know about this.I’ve wanted a model of the Prototype HSDT for many years now(long before the disappointment of Rapidos announcement and cancellation in 2015,which still stings)but the complete train with carriages,not just the single power car.I don’t see the point of that?It should have been marketed as the Blue Pullman was in 2010,the complete train,that was a marketing masterstroke on Bachmanns part!It would be a little expensive of course,but the best things in life always are.I will still order it in all likelihood but a opportunity missed.

  • @nottinghamcentral2431
    @nottinghamcentral2431 Год назад

    Fantastic looking model but me thinks everyone involved has dropped the ball here a twin pack of 41001 and 41002 one motorised the other a dummy like Hornby`s current iteration of the HST 125 would of been a far better option sales wise than just a single power car Circa £400 to get a pair of prototype HSDT units just need Hornby to make the coaches now

    • @hornbymag
      @hornbymag  Год назад

      We'd love to see the whole train made too! The initial focus from Locomotion and Rails is 41001 as preserved.

    • @clipperrail8988
      @clipperrail8988 Год назад

      Agreed. When I saw the announcement I assumed it would be a pair (like the Hornby sets) and would have jumped to pre-order, however seeing it's now only a single loco I won't be ordering. This really needs to be run as a train and with only a single power car and no commitment on a coach rake it just doesn't appeal.

    Great news it wasnt another kettle. Was going to post last night I hoped it would be a new Bachman model of the HST (wasnt far off!) to break Hornby's monopoly on the claas and wouldnt have to pay the ludicrously high fee for the HST power cars.

    T,B,H -the shape of prototype H.S.T never really floated my boat -BUT I suppose its a far,far better model and a much refreshing release rather than the endless stream of kettles (ESPECIALLY anything/everything G.W.R !! ) and Deltics !!
