I got myself an older (flat Mac Mini style) Time Capsule with a 2TB HDD for $11. I got frustrated when my custom-built home server kept breaking the Time Machine backups regularly after a while for seemingly no reason. I had to get it just for peace of mind as it's so simple to use and I can still expand it with external HDD for added redundancy. Also, I couldn't pass up such a great deal!
Same, I paid 15€ on ebay. It still had the entire unencrypted backups of the company it belonged to...including many passwords and bank PINs! They should be thankful I'm a nice person =)
@@alnicospeaker Haha, good on you and you got yourself an amazing deal! I'm planning to pick another one for my family since they never back up their machines with USB HDD's I've gave them. They would work okay for desktops (just plug them in and keep them there) but since they have laptops they never reach for the external HDD's and it's basically disaster waiting to happen eventually when they spill some coffee on them and lose all their data.
I picked up a 2tb brand new, wrapped (rare I know but actually ebay) £200 down to £150 on discount day + 2X AirPort extremes (used) +1X AirPort Express 2nd gen (for airplay) with audio Jack + 1X AirPort Express 1st gen just for the hell of it The plan is to use the 2tb as my main backup The others can get an ssd attached for other things (iPad or whatever) Also also I back up my iPhone to iTunes on my old iMac which I keep around as a display in target display mode as that iTunes backup gets saved as part of Time Machine, not sure if there’s a modern equivalent but it is a late 2009 so maybe that’s why…. Collected these slowly but was amazed to get one wrapped brand new on eBay of all places Also also also have noticed “refurbs” with up to 16tb, very pricey but I don’t care about hdd as those drives are still server grade apparently (in their original form) So yeah, you can get them if you keep your eyes peeled!!
I am using the older version of time capsule, i just got rid of the 2 TB HDD and replaced it with a 2 TB SSD and it works like a charm!
Isn't it fantastic? Thx so much for your comment 😁
I bought one just last month and it works so great

Damn. I would LOVE to tour your home haha Sounds like such a sick setup.
Can I use this as a home network server? And my own cloud server to access from outside home?
The uses I've outlined in the video are, to my knowledge, the full extent of what this device is capable of.
I want to use mine for an external hard drive plus add another hard drive but not the router…is that possible?
Yes it is
Does it work flawlessly with macOS Sonoma?
In my experience, yes
Yes!
Did marques reply 😆 - great video!
Ughhh he hasn't responded yet 😤😤😤
Yeah, I’ll take it because I’ve been looking for Apple Wi-Fi
I still own one and works fine. Great video review 🫶
Thx for watching!
