Oh my god all the ignorant people posting about the flies. Welcome to the real world, outside of your Applebees and Five Guys. Flies are a normal occurrence with street vendors and outside cooking in general, you will not get sick from a few flies buzzing about. Being weirded out by them is a symptom of being sheltered.
nope ..been to many parts of the world and flies was never an issue ..beyond that Tanzania seems to be a beautiful place with amazing food and the flies would honestly not bother me .-)
This dish is beyond words, Mark. You can't really upload its taste but the looks of it and your expression... Gosh we need some Tanzanian restaurant here -*-
Being first generation from Tanzania, my mom made all your TZ dishes growing up. Thanks of all the memories. I'm swinging by so she can make me some chips mayai this morning. Anytime you're in Washington, D.C. and are craving ugali, wali na mchuzi, or ANYTHING, drop me a line bruh!
Head down to foredani restaurant in mombasa, used to live in Tz now live in kilifi food there is much the same as back in TZ, its real good with plenty of pili pili Mbuzi
OMG your face said it all, you obviously loved it! I am working with a young fella from Tanzania and I am trying to learn more about his culture and homeland. he is so far from home, I can only imagine the culture shock he feels, here in Canada.
My grandma makes ugali, and pilau for me, after my 11th birthday which is in 40 . In August I’m going to Arusha, Tanzania. And I will visit Kampala where my sister and my grandma is too with my mammy! I love African food! It’s much better that Irish food that all my friends have!

god, this makes me miss Tanzania so much.I have to get back there some day.I never ate that well when I was there though,it was basic beans and rice most the time.
Most Americans would be terrified of fish off the bone now days. Growing up in the country, I think it tastes so much better cooked on the bone. That meal looked wonderful. Dodgy looking location (Which is usually the best), but lovely. Thanks for another great video.Mark.
hahaha...about the flies...here in Tanzania the flies are just creatures searching for food....so a hot food is good for the flies wont sit on it. But the veggies when a fly sit on it you just catch it, suck all it has collected from the your food then let it go to send a message that you aint jocking......Hahahaha that has been a joke for flies since childhood..... Welcome back man....alot of delicacies in Tanzania... am a maasai we have loshoro, kitalolo....there are chaga foods mtori, kiburu...go to the north there is kichuri and so on and on. We also have lake fish Sangara, Migebuka man this fish is amaizing. Karibu sana...

Flies !!!! HAH !!!! grew up in pretty un-hygienic place myself, with flies frakkin buzzin all over the place. Never got a major fatal disease and still no allergies. But amazingly so food in such conditions is unbelievably tasty... reason...dunno...just enjoy it. ...!!! PEACE TO ALL !!!
My dear, thanks a lot for all food video experiences. I love you. I think that even if you would eat a brick, you could transmit the same lovely appreciation for crunching it. At the moment you fill your mouth with a bite, I can taste the excellent sensations. Keep on it. Love from Italy
Oh my goddess, that is food for the godz!!!! That is my type of cuisine. Great goddess in heaven and earth, Asase Yaa I'm sitting here drooling like a teething baby.
I Love your shirt Mark! Africa has an amazing gastronomy. You must go to Angola 🇦🇴 to experiment the Angolan food. Funge, calulu and muamba are just some of the amazing dishes you should try.
I was there and its really good and cheap before we went to one of the most expensive restaurants at white Sands and we didn't get sadisfied so went to this
Hello Mark, Nice video's. I especially like your Tanzanian and Zanzibar food video. I noticed there are some flies around your food. I wondered whether you ever get sick from the streetfood in your videos? Any tips in preventing of getting sick from streetfoods? Keep up the good work :)
+kausar kaus Letting flies get at *stored* food is a big problem because then the bacteria have time to fester and the contamination might poison multiple people. A single fly landing on your plate for a second just as you're going to eat it is unlikely to make you sick.
Its nice to see someone who appreciates our culture

Any tips in preventing of getting sick from streetfoods?
Keep up the good work :)
flies are no big deal if they not come from toilet :)
Ngọc Minh Hoàng Phước they must've landed on feces though. then on his food. gross. but food does look good.
+kausar kaus Letting flies get at *stored* food is a big problem because then the bacteria have time to fester and the contamination might poison multiple people. A single fly landing on your plate for a second just as you're going to eat it is unlikely to make you sick.
