Please check out Senegalese restaurants in Chicago. I know the dishes are available. There's a huge Senegalese community in all big cities in the Us and Europe, for sure. Good luck
Is it only me or others also note that Mark Weins is always more happy and in his elements when he is eating local down to earth food instead of the Michelin stuff.
@D I think he realizes what his videos do for the local restaurants. It's free advertising for "the little guy". The Michelin places are already known. Plus, people won't be turned off by the hefty prices. It's a triple win. Mark gets the content, the restaurants get the free advertisement, and the public is turned onto a new place that they might not have heard of. Everybody wins
@@demond1818 And he can't be honest at the little places either. For example the grill place, the meat would for most part get dry if it wasn't as fatty as it was, and served with just raw red onions and harsh sauces is definitely not for all. But he over-the-tops the experiences, while still getting out the tasting notes and then the viewers can still put those two facts together and see for themselves if it was actually good or just him being nice. The notes with the prawn "having fermented seafood flavours" = it was not fresh, but he said it respectfully and played along.

Those plates of rice at the beginning of the video looked more colorful and were arguably more complex. Surely delicious. There's no doubt about that. But, at Dibiterie Le Mboté, the grilled meat shop, seeing that meat over that fire...with tree trunks basically producing the flames for cooking, that was a sight to behold. It looked so simple. The meat seasoned with just salt and eaten with the chili sauce and mustard but knocking you over with its intense smoky flavor. Wow...what deliciousness that must have been!

Thanks for respecting foods in different cultures.
Afrika is sooo beautiful. The food is soo rich and fresh ...seafood is great.

I love how you respect every country in your videos. That's rare to see a human do.
