  • Ooooh! This one has a lot of detailed info and good crochet tips so def watch the whole thing. I saw this Rainbow Granny Square Poncho project as an opportunity to talk about why I love granny squares so much. I know you do too, who doesn't?? And to show off my fav vintage granny square book and my infamous painting, yes by me.
Side note re "Granny Square Vest Family" acrylic on canvas: While painting this for a college class, I had a small emotional meltdown and decided I only ever wanted to crochet. So I took a few days off from school and everything, and only worked on a crochet version of that painting. I hung it beside for the class critique. haha yeah. I'm sad I sold it at a yard sale years later. The crochet, not the painting, that lives in my brother's house still.
But also look how amazing my earthy rainbow poncho is! Look at it! So soft and cozy and I just love it. You should make one too, I dare you.

Hey Hi! I haven't really mentioned this in my videos, but...
I always put the most detailed info in the FIRST video of a project series. I don't like to repeat all the details, so later videos will have more brief instructions. Check descriptions for related videos.
I start from the assumption that you know how to crochet. There are just SO so many channels doing a great job of teaching the basics, I figure I will let them. I want to get right to the nitty gritty of the project.
Anything unclear can be slowed down in the video settings, or searched for on YT. And of course I'm happy to answer any specific questions in the comments.
Each crochet tutorial has a written blog version as well, which can sometimes be easier to understand. (usually behind sched but hmu if you have needs)
Complete Written Patterns are Available for instant download in my shop, and include ALL necessary details.
Hey thanks for watching my videos srsly! I'm a newb but I'm out here sharing a lifetime of craft knowledge, deep thoughts, and dick jokes. Making these videos, I'm basically learning a whole new craft which is super fun. So keep hanging out! Push the button and join my clubhouse. What the heck, right??

I believe for the price, the only yarn to make most anything outside of a blanket is Hobby Lobby's, I Love This Yarn. The softness is perfect. I've found you can crochet with it without it splitting. I enjoy quickly crocheting through my projects.
But the big reason I grab this yarn is their sale fits my pockets. I love that for under four dollars you get 7 ozs.
I realized that's a deal you don't see often. The colors are nice as well. I'm 74, so I have it shipped to my home, but the stores have it for the same price.
I enjoy creating everything out of this yarn, which is my passion. Thanks for the video. I remember that 1970's crochet book. 😉

I use that yarn for most of my afghans. It splits on me too, so I just back out & charge ahead. The softness is worth the occasional grrr... LOL! 😻(Marilyn from Virginia)
