I had freehanded a continuous granny square that's just about 30 inches wide - I wasn't sure what to do with it because I'd run out of yarn and didn't want to make it a big blanket, but it was too big to be anything else, and then I stumbled upon this tutorial and sewed it up! Thank you so much, it turned out wonderful!
So I am.a beginner and I've watched different tutorials trying to get this granny square up and running. I stumbled on your video today and I can say that you are the only one who did this with a detailed explanation and I got it!! Can't wait to watch more of your videos. Thanks again
I absolutely agree that this tutorial is the best I’ve found. Every step clearly demonstrated and explained. Thanks and keep the patterns and demo’s coming 👏👏👏
This is so pretty! I'm a beginner at crocheting and can't wait to have a go at the pattern. Thank you for explaining it so thoroughly as I have a real job to decipher the written instructions.
I loved making this, it's one of the best things I've made and my whole family fight over it. Another good thing is because it's a square essentially, it folds up neatly like a blanket when not being worn. Thank you for sharing. The explanation was really clear, it was very straightforward. ❤
This incredible Love everything about this tutorial Your kindness in sharing your instructions and explanations And the colors. I really love this piece Thank You so much
Thank you so much! I made mine with chunky yarn and a size 7 hook, it worked up super fast! I’m blocking it now so it drapes nicely, can’t wait to try it on 🥰
This looks so complicated but you do it so easily. I want to try doing this and I am not sure what I will end up making. Thanks for sharing. I liked the way you teach
Thank you very much. I learned a lot from it. This was my first work with this pattern. In addition to work, she made 2 skeins of gradient colors for two weeks. It turned out amazing. I follow your work and good luck. 😁
I saw a reel about a large square cardigan. But didn’t save it. I’m 28 rounds into a large granny square and was wondering how to do it. Quick search and found this amazing tutorial! Thanks. I would have been trying to do the sleeves diagonally! Epic. Thanks And this is my first clothing item. Only the second thing I’ve ever crocheted. I’m. Newbie. Started in January x
I really love your Cocoon!! So many RUclipsrs have made them and they are a bit loose and floppy! Yours is snuggly fitted and oooh so colorful (I just happen to have a cardi that came out too big and is made of Turquoise Ombré yarn). Oooh la la what fun that’s going to be!! Thanks! I’ve been deconstructing a pretty silver/ blue cardi I made last year. It’s too big cause I went down a size plus some, but it’s getting a little boring.🧶
I was finishing a granny square shrug when COVID hit. I couldn't figure the pattern part out about how to for a partial sleeve from elbow to cuff so I never finished. NOW I can finish it just by doing some seaming. I'm thinking of doing one up quick out of left over yarn for my great granddaughters 3rd Birthday July 30th so she can have matching one like her Gigi. It will be so quick & easy. I love granny squares & Coran Cakes.
I can’t express how hard it is for me to listen to her and the music while I’m trying to watch what she is doing and do it myself. All I want to do is print this on paper so that I can do it at my own pace. I have plenty of experience with crochet but this is a whole new level of challenge. Am I the only one?
Loved making this. It turned out really cute even though I had to stop a couple of rows short because I was running out of yarn. I still love it and can't wait to try it again.
I followed this pattern and finished mine a couple of months ago, and I love it! Instructions absolutely easy to understand and follow. Thank you for sharing your design~ :D
Oh my that’s the best idea yet. I have a stack of blankets I’m going to try this on. Due to COVID our crochet/knitting circle has not met or able to donate😻🧶😷
You are so beautiful! Love your long brunette hair! Thank you for this simple yet effective instruction. I'm so glad you modeled your work too! So many times I've stitched up a project then it doesn't look good on me. If i can see it worn first, it really helps. I've always been able to save my ill fit projects by changing some of the stitching, but it is longer work than if I could see it fit first.
This is just great. I do have a finishing question. You mentioned that you can crochet around the arms and outside to get more coverage. I cannot find any instructions on how to do that and I would really like to add it. Thanks for you video and your help laura
Thanks for the feedback. I'd love to do a tutorial for that in the future! It's called "picking up stitches." Common in knitting, but actually much easier to do in crochet! You'll basically re-attach your yarn and start crocheting into the stitches as you normally would.
I unfortunately cannot crochet to save my life but I knitted a square and stiched this in a similar way to your technique I'm so pleased with the result and so many friends and total strangers ask where I got it and when I tell them I knitted a square blanket and did the seam for the arm holes they are amazed something to easy look so nice and as to was a large square it covers my butt great as I'm a leggings wearer a friend has just requested I make one for her and is come shopping with me next payday so as she can purchase her wool in a chunky as mine is I will also purchase more wool again chunkY as that what I prefer to knit with it's quicker too and as I'd got my wool on a buy two get two free deal in my local Hobbycraft (UK) last year, I've also knitted a waist coat with button on sleeves three pairs of tube socks and some slippers so I've certainly had my money's worth the wool is a soft chunky "variegated, "three colours wool my favourite colours of mustard grey cream I'm hoping to find similar with rust brown orange if that's still available
First time viewer... thank you for this! I've been looking at patterns for something similar to this, but the increase to the next rows always end up creating a noticeable and ugly seam. This is how my mom and grandma used to make granny squares, but, for the life of me, I couldn't remember how to do it! This was an accidental find, but I'm sooooo glad for it. Thank you for the time stamps, as well. (Subbed and liked!) 💜
I like this idea, real cute seems easy enough for 1 big granny square, i have just finished a baby square blanket but used the v stitch, might try it with the v stitch, i need to find some yarn that is soft and pretty first!!!

Love the pattern and the idea for the border; 3 rows of single crochet around the openings add some weight and stability to the shrug.
