This was amazing. Those models were fantastic, and so were the video effects. As for the animation, it looks like it was made by incredibly skilled animators running on low budget and time. A bit lazy here and there but not enough to effect the video. It was beautifully done. Thank you for you contribution to the Starcraft community =D

I have a whole backstory written for this marine. He was evacuated against his own will by medics (due to near fatal wounds) early in the battle. They were on-board one of the capital ships (perhaps the Hyperion itself) by the time Mengsk left orbit.

Very nice to find a lore fan here. You're right that Omega are known as Black, but I went with orange because they're portrayed that way in the Ghost intro and because render tests in black didn't look as good as the color they have here.
This was made by SCL way before Wings of Liberty, so they inspired themselves in the visuals she had in Brood War Cinematics. She looked quite trashy and non-beautiful back then.

AoE Freak The flapping (like you can read in the wiki) is a motion necessary for the mutalisks to survive. As they are / were a species that was airborne pretty much all its lifespan it has to keep flapping, as it produces energy which is needed for their biological functions

The thing is protoss have been in a civil war for so long between the high templars and the dark templars. If they were to unite as one then zerg and terran would not even have a single chance of winning... You saw what happened when Tassadar combined the powers of the Khala (High templars) and the Void (Dark templars) to destroy the overmind, he became an unstoppable being with powers that matched those of the Xel'naga's.

freespace87 if you are interested in my opinion on the book, I would defientely love to see a movie, showing all the events and especially the relationship between 3 commanders. Although, the book itself is not 100% similar with canon.
I still own my copy of Starcraft Brood war. And if I remember correctly, EVERYONE WHO PLAYS PROTOSS is pissed off by zerg. only because you spend 300 minerals and almost 300 vespene for one carrier. 2 second later after warp, you hear the announcer say "your warriors have engaged the enemy" another two seconds your carrier explodes and the zerg player just killed you with carrier killers(a lot of players back then reference scourges as carrier killers because well....they kill carriers.) Damn them zerg.
TrojanPiece One of the in-game upgrades for marines gives them shields ("Tactical Shields" maybe?) The upgrade changes the model to actually give them physical shields (not the Protoss kind if you thought that) and increases their health by 10. Also, the shields are large enough that they would be very noticeable.
Shields had came for footmen in Warcraft 3 as well. Blizzard just puts shields to their lowest tier human units in all of their watered down dumb sequels............ It's bullshit.
AMAZING SPACE BATTLES! The fight to fight is not that great, same as the voice acting on those troopers (yes I know why they picked those guys to do the voices) still, this deserves no less than a 8/10 in my opinion :D way better than most Starcraft cutscenes. Better than all when it comes to spaceship battles.
Seeing those Battle Cruisers from the Conferedacy nuke Korhal from space was bad ass. I thought in the official lore they just simply launched those nukes directly from Tarsonis towards Korhal but w/e. And those Marines were boss too. I would love to see some type of a cinematic that depicts Protoss vs Terran. in the HoTS cinematic we saw the Zerg invading Augustgrad, and then in LoTV we see the Protoss trying to take back Aiur against the Zerg. Nothing would warm my heart more than seeing a great cinematic of my fellow humans wiping out those pompous Protoss aliens. Seeing a Ghost call down a nuke on a bunch of em would be even sweeter. But great cinematic though nonetheless, hopefully once SC 3 is made we'll get even more great ones.
This cinematic was just brilliance in a bottle. I agree, this really should have been what SC2 felt like! The style of the cinematic, and the use of the SC1esque music, and the badassery, really felt like it belonged to SC. And seriously, the VO for Tassadar was just so good. I would totally buy into that voice for SC2's Tassadar. I liked the little tie-in for Starcraft: Universe as well. And Tom Kazansky! Woot! I really can't praise this cine enough. Awesome job, dude.
very well made aside from 2 things. Kerigans face was a bit off and that slow mo between her and tasadar could have used a bit of work. but otherwise very nice. Rly reminds me of starcraft one graphics in 3d where things had some more detail and not everything was smoothed as if made of metal and plastic.

Sweet. Some of the animations of the humanoid characters were a little stiff but that is just a footnote in what is, otherwise, a perfect video. This is beautiful and it's just what the lore of the games has always needed.
I'm sure with Blizzards reasources he can help make it a game to remember. Sure, this video isn't as professional, but I feel a whole lot better watching this, a lot more entertained, and more involved than most of Blizzards stuff in HotS. This is what the SC community wants. This is Starcraft.
I'd personally love to know how / what effects they used to do the slight 'mechanical' voice alterations for the Marines. Sounds fantastic, in my opinion. Sure, there are audio-editing programs such as Audacity and ACID Pro along with the voice-actors themselves, but there is clearly digital enhancement / alteration at play here, and I am curious as to what they did exactly to achieve the effect.
freespace87 I have Audacity. I've used it many times, although in simplistic ways such as simply pitch-shifting or changing the speed and tempo of audio files. I've also used Sony ACID to make tunes and sound clips of my own. But specifically, what did they do for the voice effects? Pitch shift? Echo? What gives off that metallic in-a-suit sort of sound, similar to Isaac's voice in Deadspace and other such examples?

It was probably Ulrezaj, he's the only dark archon I know of that is a fusion of more than 2 dark templar.

And seriously, the VO for Tassadar was just so good. I would totally buy into that voice for SC2's Tassadar.
I liked the little tie-in for Starcraft: Universe as well. And Tom Kazansky! Woot! I really can't praise this cine enough. Awesome job, dude.
very well made aside from 2 things. Kerigans face was a bit off and that slow mo between her and tasadar could have used a bit of work. but otherwise very nice. Rly reminds me of starcraft one graphics in 3d where things had some more detail and not everything was smoothed as if made of metal and plastic.

Maybe your right as well The Wraith squadron attack cinematic from the original SC I remember it`s all yours Harley but Kazansky also rings a bell. Need to play that game again. Sweet. Some of the animations of the humanoid characters were a little stiff but that is just a footnote in what is, otherwise, a perfect video. This is beautiful and it's just what the lore of the games has always needed.

I'd personally love to know how / what effects they used to do the slight 'mechanical' voice alterations for the Marines. Sounds fantastic, in my opinion.
Sure, there are audio-editing programs such as Audacity and ACID Pro along with the voice-actors themselves, but there is clearly digital enhancement / alteration at play here, and I am curious as to what they did exactly to achieve the effect.
It was Audacity, in fact. Nice piece of software. Free and easy to use.
freespace87 I have Audacity. I've used it many times, although in simplistic ways such as simply pitch-shifting or changing the speed and tempo of audio files. I've also used Sony ACID to make tunes and sound clips of my own.
But specifically, what did they do for the voice effects?
Pitch shift? Echo? What gives off that metallic in-a-suit sort of sound, similar to Isaac's voice in Deadspace and other such examples?
