These systems have also been somewhat controversial in SC2 as data from them went into making the MULE, which the SCV workers Union sees as an attempt to put them all out of a job.
@@basedeltazero714 and marines are not small either. SCVs are entire construction sites worth of equipment compressed into a single vehicle. It’s almost comedic how cheap they are for what they can do. Even in lore.
Don't forget the ridiculously overengineered multitool that has an entire miniature fusion reactor dedicated just to powering it. Yes, SCVs are powered by two separate fusion reactors. Also, the build times for the various buildings in Starcraft are exaggerated, but not by nearly as much as you might think. SCV construction times are ridiculous (hence why they can compete with literally warping in fully built structures), and it's no exaggeration to say that the invention of the SCV was the single biggest factor in the Terran's rapid expansion across the entire Koprulu sector.
SCVs are space construction vehicles, used to construct and maintain everything from remote outposts to space platforms as well as harvest resources and general reconstruction efforts. They are used by both military and civilian interests throughout the Koprulu sector for their versatility and reliability, and are regarded as a foundational unit for terran forces. The current model became popular when they were used in the construction of Tarsonis' space platforms. It was widely adopted and became a staple in terran engineering by 2489. During the reign of the Terran Confederacy, volunteering to pilot an SCV appeared to be an alternative to military service. The PEB (Preferred Experience Base) was hostile environment engineering, with combat experience a plus. In the Terran Dominion, SCV pilots are represented by the SCV pilot's union, who oppose the continued efforts of the Dominion Engineering Corps to replicate protoss probes.

Quick correction. The Confederacy had fielded battlefield medics before the UED showed up. They just didn't field many of them. I believe it was during the Guild Wars they started fielding them as a trial run. It was when James Raynor met Tychus, but before the Magistrate recruited him as a marshal.
Thank you so much for writing this! From my research it seemed that the UED were the ones to bring the medics onto the front lines, and have them equipped with armor as opposed to the colonies which kept them at the barracks, since we don’t see them until Brood War? @@Dog.Dad.Studios If you read the Heavens Devils books, Tychus was dating a field medic. At the time the Confederacy must have found them not worthwhile to field. There also was an early firebat, though I believe his jump packs were quickly taken away.
The main issue here is that was more of a retcon, a lack of consistency due to the different teams. I much prefered the focus on SC and BW while ignoring 2 for what this video was(and that was what he mostly did)
Considering how overpowered C14 Gauss Rifle in the lore is, and Terran Marines don't live long on the battlefield and they are just basic soldiers, that showing how terrifying and overpowered the shits they face in the SC universe.

@@Dog.Dad.Studios I love Terran Marines, their gun and CMC armor. They don't get to shine enough. Considering how people love Space Marine games and they works. I would love it that SC to have a game similar like that, to see the harsh reality from Terran Marine's eyes. How about you?
@@Vantud391 I would take any new game that expands anything with the lore. 40K has done it well, not every game is great, but at least they’ve tried their hand at crpg, fps etc.. I would love a splinter cell game as a ghost ( not too original), but I’d also take a game focused on Mara Sara colony right before the Zerg get there, so it would be the start of revolution and then invasion. Could be cool to shoot both confederacy and Zerg. Now that Microsoft owns the IP, I think it would be rash of them not to do anything with it
Yeah, people really tend to underestimate the Starcraft universe in general. In context, everything feels about normal, and the guys dying in droves as a matter of course feel like weak canon fodder. It's only when you take them out of context that it brings into sharp relief how powerful they truly are, like when a single hydralisk in the Night Elf campaign of Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos can singlehandedly take on armies of undead.
7:22 Goliaths are better than you might think, especially with the range upgrade. They scale well with upgrades. One upgrade is +4 damage to their anti-air attacks (OK it's technically only +2 if the target has the same level armour).
Thank you so much for your comment! I did have fun watching my Goliaths annihilate the enemies mutalisk without having to micro them. What’s one of your favorite unit?
@@vizelek2156 the instant sound of the stimpack will always be one of those ASMR sounds that must’ve developed when playing the game as a kid. Also marines are all around awesome! Hope all is well!
It should also be noted that Goliath's ground attack does normal damage, which means they do full damage to light units like Zerglings and infantry. They're amazing when supporting Siege Tanks, providing not just anti-air, but anti-infantry support. Have you ever had a bunch of Siege Tanks taking out everything on the ground, until suddenly they got rushed by Zerglings or Zealots? While not as cost-effective as Marines for this purpose, they share upgrades with your Siege Tanks, in addition to providing incredible anti-air.
Well, they do decent anti-ground damage, however, it's only +1 per upgrade so vultures may be better at dealing with light units. Their 1 base armor should not be overlooked though. Anyway, they do decent damage to ground and amazing damage to air, which makes them great support for siege tanks.
When i was a kid, me and my friends used to call goliaths "Robocops" because of the Robocop prototype from the first movie. Also, nice detail on using RA2 soundtrack for the video.
I've played a lot of RTS games over the years. Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Rise of Nations, Supreme Commander, etc etc and as far as basic infantry units go, I think Starcraft's Terran Marine is the best starter infantry unit in the RTS genre. Inexpensive, easy to use, flexible for both offense and defense, able to attack both ground and air, etc.
I hope you enjoy some of the music in the video, tried to get a lot of those titles soundtracks in the video : ) I couldn’t agree more, it’s how I played StarCraft 2 online, since I spammed marine/medship and didn’t feel bad if I lost ahahah. Hope all is well!
There is so much they can do with the Star Craft universe, and I'll never understand why they haven't. It is one of the biggest wasted IPs I've ever witnessed.

Not gonna lie, it makes my eye twitch a bit in frustration to hear the Age of Empires 2 music as the background while you talk about Starcraft. Good job. :)
Most of the lore in SC was included in the manual, which had so much information about units, buildings, factions, history of each race, etc. I still have all my manuals
@@Dog.Dad.Studios probably the mixture of the artwork by Metzen and others with the bits of lore next to them. I think Metzen’s style while probably not appealing to most, was instrumental in setting the tone for those early Blizzard games like WarCraft and StarCraft. They also had small 3D renders of each unit with their bio. I love the original Marine armor design more than the overly bulky and intricate one of the sequel, they were always my favorite unit because they just looked like futuristic astronauts with guns. Plus the C-14 Gauss Rifle just sounded bad ass when they fired in game.

Honestly, one of the things I love about the Vulture is their ability to harrass your enemy's mineral/gas lines. They're designed to be anti light unit. So they make decent work of things like marines, firebats and zerglings, and even go decently hard against Hydralisks.
Man I’m totally obsessed with StarCraft since I was a kid. It’s so nice to find someone who’s as passionate as I am. I like 1 story about SCVs. After Brood war Dominion decided to make SCVs less armored in order to make them cheaper and lighter. Workers didn`t like it and eventually a rebelion rised. Unfortunately for them they were quickly surpressed due to insufficient armor
I always loved the Ghost lines. "I'm gone!" "Never know what hit em" and my personal favourite when a Ghost is produced "Somebody call for an exterminator? 😎" Absolutely oozes swagger.
Been playing Starcraft since the game came out near my fourth birthday, so when I say I'm a terran for life I mean it! Did you know Overwatch 2's PVE mode was a repurposed Starcraft RTS in the works? When that PVE mode got permanently cancelled I thought we were going through a second SC Ghost. I saw Ghost on magazines back when it was going to release as an Xbox game. Extremely saddening.
The Goliath design is based off ED209 from Robocop. I'm surprised you didn't bring that up since if you poke the Dragoon enough it says the iconic "drop your weapon" line.
@@Dog.Dad.Studios the units design is way too similar, since StarCraft was originally supposed to be a Warhammer 40k game and was cancelled by Games Workshop after a pretty significantof chunk of development was done, I could be wrong but I would guess they had to redesign the sprite models and Robocop would have been everywhere on VHS in the late 90s, yeah there arent any official confirmations but I know the ED209 style when I see it
I think the lack of medics in the confederacy/ dominion can easily be explained by the fact that the (probably lack of) medkits they had on board the prison colony ships was probably the extent their (probably lack of) medical development when they got stranded on the planets. Compared to the collective medical knowledge of Earth over the centuries, and you have a major medical tech deficit on the colonies part.
Do you have any idea what those missiling things are on the battlecruisers, lore wise? Im talking about the rocket-looking parts attached to the wings. Ive always wondered what the artist's intent was.
Quick tip on Vultures, Skirmisher says it all, Hot key em to 4 make only 4 that makes 12 spider mines I think... Set them on a point past your spider mines and keep light ground patrols from attacking your base early, When Out gunned Fall Back behind Goliaths Siege Tanks and Bunkers Any Casualty adds on to the Spidermine fields... They Outrun Everything on the Ground when Upgraded, Wraiths Are Distractions You can Go in Deep to their Supplies or Resources cause a panic And land Dropship Siege troops fire bats Goliaths and siege tanks on their productions, All the While Marines and Vultures can Run through their front defenses preferably with battle cruisers... Ghosts and Science Vessels on the other hand, Well be creative how to use them after that ammount of chaos 💀
I think the terran faction rewarded great micromanagement and tactics the most. They're possibly the hardest to master despite having deceptively accessible unit line ups like siege tanks and medics, etc. They surprisingly seem to have great tactical options in practice compared to the protoss, imo.

Most of the terran arsenal re colonist tech cuz those three big ships that leaved earth didnt carry actual colonist but exiled humans. Theres some military schematics like the Goliath or Battlecruiser that somehow ended up in those ships but i think most of the tech we see in the game is just adapted from civilian colonist tech like machinery and other stuff.
Yeah they were convicts from the Purge or whatever the previous UED government was doing on Earth. That makes sense about the converting tech, but the colonies also develop their own weapons during the guild wars and subsequent fighting? Thank you so much for commenting!
Who knows? Phil Spencer was wearing Starcraft Merch last game show and Microsoft is introducing the Starcraft Series to the game pass "could" be a hype-building start or at least to test the waters if it's warm enough to invest more. Rumors of a first person shooter in the works could be set in the Starcraft-verse. We could only keep our fingers crossed and hope this is the start of Blizzard coming back to life..
I mean the only time they tried to do something outside of the RTS games... with ghost they ended up cancelling it. We also got the characters on Heroes of the Storm if that satisfies you xD

@@Dog.Dad.StudiosIMHO, the SC2's writing ruined lore and characters. Complaints aside, the global war ended, the ultimate evil was defeated, basically the story had an end without cliffhangers. Still, it would be worth creating a prequel. Shame Blizzard doesn't have a SC1 level of writing these days.
There is also more units beyond video games. I heard about some on the wiki. Do Raiders (Big Anti ground Valkyrie before Brood War) exists by the way? Valkyries also had stimpack. I think it is called Afterburners. So they are fast we just can't see it in game because it is op. Or maybe they are actually slow and to be on par with other ships they have to spend health or energy. 14:28 There was an ad on Dominion Television that says you should give you child to become ghost or something like that. Most of the Terran tech during SCII are diverse from superior UED. From the lore, the Earth gives those prison mates all their military-related tech. UED intention is clear, they want to limit the military advancement of Terran in the Koprulu sector. So, when the UED through the colony is ready to conquer in their name, they can use more advanced and sophisticated tech than the outdated Terran dominion. Likes the UED has complete hardware and gives ripe off, worse version to the Koprulu. When war started, those colonies would have zero chance of winning.
Not particularly original though. The infantry largely resemble Warhammer 40k Space Marine infantry. The Vulture is an Aeldari Jetbike. The Goliath is a Battletech ripoff (Catapult-4C battlemech). The flyers at least appear to be products of creativity.

Ah yes, the Goliath looking like a badass and kid me made a lot of them because they did twice the damage of a marine, were repairable and more durable. It was a bad idea
Mine would be Valkyrie. Due to her weapon behavior, she reminds me of air-to-air bombardment found in several Ace Combat games, and no, it's not Fox 3 where you lock on to multiple targets at once with AMRAAM or R-77 or Meteor, but more like throwing a bunch of cluster grenade into the air to kill a flock of birds. And due to my cluelessness about foreign languages (both English and German), me and my friends had made a lot of funny misheard lines out of both Terran and Protoss such as when Valk said "Attention" in German which is "Achtung", my childish brain received "Out through the ass".

@@Dog.Dad.Studios i look forward to seeing more! This feels unreal to me right now, im nearly as amped up when I saw the zealots warping in during the LOTV trailer. I never thought the lore would be so *rich.* I played all three races in tournaments, but when i play against people close to me or above me, I go for terran because Im a big fan of the adaptability of their units. I often play unusual compositions to throw people off, such as ghost mech with nukes while simultaneously dropping everywhere. The obvious downside to having so much supply in stuff that isnt army means im weaker in the straight up fight, but the combination of nukes and dropships makes the thought of moving out intimidating because you cant deal damage to me without some cost. The players I struggle against are the ones that are good at killing me before I get to that multi-prong aggression phase of the game. I make up for a lack of skill with speed and multitasking. So all the gimmicky stuff doesn't really work against players of higher calibers. What about you? What's your favorite thing to do in Starcraft? Edit: favorite unit is a HARD one. It's hard for me to say since Im a sucker for unique strategies. I would say it's either the vulture or the dropship. I like to pin my opponents in their bases and take my own bases, so fast units capable of forcing a response are vital to me. You might say I play a bit zerglike lol
I also never liked the Vulture. Every other terran unit feels somehow pragmatic and versatile. Vultures on the other hand are such nichy combattants. And I never understood why only they had spider mines and couldn't replenish them. I think they wanted to have a unit that felt like a militia. But yeah, they also felt very strange gameplay wise so all in all my least favourite terran unit.

-SCVs are MASSIVE at 12 feet tall, it’s a pickup truck that learned to walk upright.
-SCVs have learning computers that adapt to the users preferences and help automate out repeated actions and help in a fight.

Fantastic! Thank you for sharing this! It’s a great one and I’m so glad these voice lines still are in our hearts!
Ab-so-lutely!
Again thank you for taking the time to write this! I truly appreciate it
@@Dog.Dad.Studios If you read the Heavens Devils books, Tychus was dating a field medic. At the time the Confederacy must have found them not worthwhile to field. There also was an early firebat, though I believe his jump packs were quickly taken away.
@@LegendStormcrow amazing thank you!!!
The main issue here is that was more of a retcon, a lack of consistency due to the different teams. I much prefered the focus on SC and BW while ignoring 2 for what this video was(and that was what he mostly did)
Also, UED imported a nano surgery when Doninion and the resof sector adopted and jump start an improved medic program.
Considering how overpowered C14 Gauss Rifle in the lore is, and Terran Marines don't live long on the battlefield and they are just basic soldiers, that showing how terrifying and overpowered the shits they face in the SC universe.
Oh absolutely! I think one of my favorite details is Zerg carapace armor and it literally evolving to soak up Terran bullets and Protoss. I would be horrified if I was on the front lines seeing ultralisks running around not being to be shot ahaha. Hope all is well!
Now that Microsoft owns the IP, I think it would be rash of them not to do anything with it
And the ammo isn't unlimited too
Yeah, people really tend to underestimate the Starcraft universe in general.
My undisputed favorite unit is the Marine. I love using stim packs and watching how everything dies in a few seconds.
And robocop is a great movie too! I’m so glad you picked up on it : )
Pretty sure I heard some Age of Empires soundtracks in there as well
I've played a lot of RTS games over the years.
I hope you enjoy some of the music in the video, tried to get a lot of those titles soundtracks in the video : )
I couldn’t agree more, it’s how I played StarCraft 2 online, since I spammed marine/medship and didn’t feel bad if I lost ahahah. Hope all is well!

Not gonna lie, it makes my eye twitch a bit in frustration to hear the Age of Empires 2 music as the background while you talk about Starcraft. Good job. :)
Ahahah I try to evoke emotion
Most of the lore in SC was included in the manual, which had so much information about units, buildings, factions, history of each race, etc.
I still have all my manuals
What’s one of your favorite bits of the manual?
@@Dog.Dad.Studios probably the mixture of the artwork by Metzen and others with the bits of lore next to them.
I think Metzen’s style while probably not appealing to most, was instrumental in setting the tone for those early Blizzard games like WarCraft and StarCraft.
They also had small 3D renders of each unit with their bio. I love the original Marine armor design more than the overly bulky and intricate one of the sequel, they were always my favorite unit because they just looked like futuristic astronauts with guns.

@@Dog.Dad.Studios the units design is way too similar, since StarCraft was originally supposed to be a Warhammer 40k game and was cancelled by Games Workshop after a pretty significantof chunk of development was done, I could be wrong but I would guess they had to redesign the sprite models and Robocop would have been everywhere on VHS in the late 90s, yeah there arent any official confirmations but I know the ED209 style when I see it
I had a game where I kept a fleet of Carriers at bay with Wraiths. I would target the observers and then let the missiles fly.

Most of the terran arsenal re colonist tech cuz those three big ships that leaved earth didnt carry actual colonist but exiled humans.

I never thought the lore would be so *rich.*
I played all three races in tournaments, but when i play against people close to me or above me, I go for terran because Im a big fan of the adaptability of their units.
You might say I play a bit zerglike lol
it IS too bad the Goliath wasnt as usful as expected
I also never liked the Vulture. Every other terran unit feels somehow pragmatic and versatile. Vultures on the other hand are such nichy combattants. And I never understood why only they had spider mines and couldn't replenish them. I think they wanted to have a unit that felt like a militia. But yeah, they also felt very strange gameplay wise so all in all my least favourite terran unit.
Ahaha thank you for sharing this, I thought I was taking crazy pills with some responses : )
@@Dog.Dad.Studios After thinking about it a minute longer I also never liked the weaponry. Those strange canister shots never really made sense to me 🙈
Care 2 share thumbnail pic link? They look dope.
XD
I make them myself : ), I use thumbnail testing as well, so I don’t know which of the three you got. I like to take elements from the games and highlight them, so if you’re seeing the unit portraits, I photo shop them out and put them on a background that I find relevant. I truly appreciate your comment!
"just imagine ... miles per hour"
ah yeah sure, let me imagine this weird american concept that I have never thought about.
See the speed!
10:20 hol' up that ain't a SC soundtrack. Do I smell.... CnC?
Hehehe you got to respect some of the best soundtracks which RTS games had back in the day : ) great ears!! Hope all is well!
Prefer the old Terran roster compared to the SC2 one.
I don't want no Viking or Thor. I want my Wraith and Goliath.
Your voice is too quiet compared to the inserted memes and unit quotes. Edit: Not all the inserted sounds are equal. The ones toward the beginning of the video are louder, and the ones at the end are quieter.
I appreciate you writing this, I’ve seen this once or twice on this video. What audio device are you using to listen?
@@Dog.Dad.Studios I believe I was watching on my PC last night using regular speakers like you might get at Walmart
@@JWQweqOPDH awesome thank you so much! I usually do three tests, one with my studio headphones, one with my monitor speakers, and once with surround sound on tv. I try to mix everything to the same levels, and it can be hard since audio clips come from different sources.
I’ll listen closer to monitor speakers and their audio levels throughout. Being a one person editor, sometimes I get used to the noises or sounds while editing, so I won’t notice everything. And I doubt I’ll be able to perfect audio for each person, but I’ll try. Thanks for stopping by and replying!
Don't you (common Terran profanity) badmouth a classic like that!
- Jim Raynor probably
Seriously, man makes his first appearance in his Vulture.
@7:12 ur welcome
Heh- the most iconic starcraft unit be carriers bud
You’re going to hate my Zerg video coming out then : )
Your voiceover is way quieter than the clips you add for voices. Makes it hard to watch calmly.
Howdy! I appreciate you taking the time to say this. I try to mix my audio as well as I can, using studio earphones, and while it was louder, I didn’t think it disrupted the narrative.
There are some clips like the voice lines that are inherently loud. Tuning them down, as I did to 75% for the video, I thought did enough. But I’m sorry that was your experience, since I want each viewer to be engaged, but also relaxed.
Hope all is well! Can I ask what audio you were listening through?
TERRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAN!
Proceeding!
Hard to watch this your camera changes position way! to often, not trying to be disrespectful just some feedback,
Also your clips are way to loud compared to your mic 🎤
Now go do starcraft 3 lore
bro nice video but with that cadence and delivery you should just skip the joke attempts. That "halo" one where you said that some stuff could mean two things at once was LITERALLY painful.
Usually I don’t respond to these. But if anyone else sees this, I want them to know: life is about trying. You don’t come out day 1 knowing anything, you have to try to learn. And that’s what I’ll continue to do. If that’s not your outlook, you should try!
