I think Silent Hill accomplished something that other horror franchises never really did. It's the atmosphere, like a profound, heavy sadness, that just sucks you in. The music matches that. Silent Hill is the only franchise I know that invokes that feeling... It's like, even though it's empty, and lonely, and filled with monsters, basically hell, for some reason, you want to be there...
me to... regardless of cheesy crap special effects. if you have an amazing plot and storyline like this movie it doesnt matter. it hits you in the feels
Something about silent hill 2s soundtrack resonates with me. I think I relate to James' experience a little. My grandma died April of this year and before she died, she was in and out of the hospital constantly for two years. She had problem after problem and it was hard to watch. She slowly started to change. She became grumpier, meaner and just tired. It was hard to watch because my grandma always treated me with such kindness and love. She was always so happy and she was the best listener. She was so independent and did everything herself. I had never seen her so weak before. She understood me better than anyone else. So when she changed I started to resent her. I didnt visit her as often, I never called her, I didnt ask how she was. I was so selfish and it pains me so much every day. It was like I couldn't take it but then when she actually passed I felt so empty. It made me realize how selfish I was being. I hope I didnt hurt her too bad even though I know I did make her sad. I miss her so so much. I hope she forgave me before she left or that she can now, wherever she is. Thanks for reading this, to whoever does. Edit: Thank you for the kind words everyone :) and thank you to those who have shared your experiences with me, its nice we can relate to each other in a way. I hope everyone who has gone through hard times is doing better now! I'm doing much better now to those who were wondering!
@Miguel Hernandez you don't need to be mean :/ a lot of people relate to games, tv shows, movies, etc. Its just a video with soundtracks, it's not about anyone in the first place.
@Miguel Hernandez I dont understand why you are so upset about me commenting. Have you ever been to a comment section? People share their opinions and experiences. It's odd that I even have to explain that to you. If you dont like what I had to say, then move along.
@Miguel Hernandez You accuse the other person of having some sort of social issue, but you realize you're being incredibly antagonistic just because somebody talked about their life on a website where you have zero obligation to engage with them, have no reason at all to engage with them even, and seem to lack any understanding of empathy/sympathy whatsoever? And I'm not saying you have no understanding of empathy/sympathy because you were a dîck head to them, but because you don't seem to understand that media is made specifically to be related to and drawing from life experience is one of the most basic ways to understand and appreciate art. Like, dude, you have absolutely no leg to stand on.
Thank you for sharing that. Sometimes we don't appreciate things and people until we lose them. It happens to the best of us. And p.s. don't listen to the no-lifer above.
My town had a massive snowstorm that left me stuck inside the house. No water, no light. Here I am sitting in the dark and listening to this masterpiece.
Dear god, were you in Texas? The temp was 7 degrees one morning during that - I found the cat water fountain had still iced over near the space heater. The space heater wasn't aimed at it but to seriously think it got that cold in my house and I DID have power (central heater was broken as was the water heater). I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska and what happened in Texas was a crime.
This is the kind of music that says "Hey don't deny your sadness" and invites us to freely explore the feeling, not to suffer but to negotiate the lessons
Composers genius is really speaking for himself at this point, keep in mind that silent hill town was all a metaphor to acknowledge and fight our traumas, depression, sadness and sorrow.
To me, Silent Hill is a beatiful place. Not the history of the town, but the ambience, calm, serene, not only one around, fog... A very silent place that if was real, i would make anything to visit. Just imagining myself walking in the town with these amazing music in the background... An experience a bit sad, but comforting and calm to me. I love SH.
I agree with you. Although you could have a similar feeling if you simply go out for a walk on a foggy night with this music on. Works especially if you're in a small town though, I'll admit that. A few years ago, I used to walk from a small town back to the village my mom lives in every night of new years eve. An empty street, fog (caused by the fireworks) and silence. Then I turned Silent Hill soundtrack on. It's a feeling like you've connected with yourself but with the foggy unknown, too. And Akiras amazing songs make you feel calm, kinda sad, self reflective and confident at the same time. I love this music.
Same. I always feel happy that this kind of videos exist when you need them too. Hope you get over whatever makes you sad. A huge thanks to whoever uploaded it

Well, it wasn't a scary experience. But more like a point of view of someone with a unfixed problem/metal disorder/ or like in silent hill 2 a person going through stages of grief. The difficulty of the game was just their mental health breaking piece by piece. and finally the feeling of loneliness it gives is just their mind unable to choose for itself. Akira Yamaoka's music is so healing and emotional in such a distinct way, nothing else makes me feel like this. Just through instrumental music alone he can convey sadness, misery, nostalgia, hope, and tranquility all at once. I'm really grateful these games and soundtracks exist.
A few years ago I worked at a local university, and whenever it snowed we had to go over there at 5 am to start shoveling and salting the sidewalks and stairways outside. It was miserable, but each time I always put on the Silent Hill 2 OST. It always felt appropriate given the weather, and time made it go by faster. It's random to comment this here, but each time I hear these absolute masterpieces I'm reminded of those times.
As a child that was subjected to intense bullying, abuse of multiple kinds from multiple people and having a mother that claimed she loved me but never really took care of me, this song resonates with me so deeply. Silent Hill Music always elevated that feeling of a dream within a dream for me ... the inner part of one’s being that is still searching for their self ... whether behind the exterior we are truly a beautiful or ugly human being ....this piece is a great example of wonderment and lost...can we seek to ever find ? “ The Fear of blood tends to create fear for the flesh”...
For the past couple months, it seems like every single day has been gray and overcast, quiet- no snow though it’s winter. Just bare trees and old autumn leaves on the ground in the woods near my house... Everything feels unchanging and unmoving... Still... So many days I feel like I’m living in the town silent hill... Playing this music to be the soundtrack for these days immerses me even more to feel like I’m experiencing that world... thank you for the music
I want silent hill music as my wedding and for my funeral music. Hill 1 and 2 are simply something special. Takes my mind to a special place. Thank you for putting this music here to be enjoyed.
i dont get how people didn't like the first silent hill movie,,,as far as games go it was a hella dam good movie converted from a video game. Sure they changed some characters around,,,but it followed silent hill story pretty dam close. Considering how crazy and messed up the silent hill universe is. That movie was a blessing. It was good and worthy of being called silent hill.
I guess normal people may find this kind music dark or off-putting. But to those who have been through the fog, and the deepest despairs...it's usually those that come out and find peace through it.
TLDR: these oldies have their own charm when played in their own consoles. Arguably the scariest and most mesmerizing thing for me are the creative workarounds designers and programmers had to go through because of graphic limitations for each console generation. Just watching the textures "warping" in objects in the first game due to graphical limitations was enough for me to love the game even more, sadly these effects can't be replicated for the current console generation without people complaining about how hard the puzzles were and how the graphics doesn't look good for their standards.
From what I recall, they remade Silent Hill 1 and fucked it up completely. So far as to completely remove the fog which game the first game its atmosphere. I get it was initially there because of console limitations rather than the actual effect it caused, but it became a massive factor in it.
Thank you tremendously for the music. I noticed that a many Silent Hill mixes had, for some reason, been purged from RUclips. I'm glad you're keeping the spirit alive. Silent Hill tracks are some of my favorite to just get lost in.
Silent Hill warms my heart in some way that I cannot explain. Movies, games, soundtrack... Silent Hill is one of the most precious things in this world, in my opinion.
Yeah....never really appreciated the musical brilliance of it , until a couple days ago lol! ...I mean 1-2 songs playing on repeat in my room in high-school was cool,...but it doesn't really do it justice, ya know? ....I'm just now learning its all 1 person , making all this music wow , ...thats really neat as well.
The creators of the Silent Hill music whether it's the games or the films..... They're on another level quite honestly. This music is just different and I don't think it's really possible to describe it or the feeling it gives
@@sir_jerhyn I remember searching Google for a good and fitting picture for a really long time until I finally found this. I might still have it somewhere but I'm not home right now.
I feel so calm and have a connection like it’s a different universe like I like silent hill in general and hopefully a new game comes out I’m currently playing homecoming it’s good . But this music and silent hill in general help me escape my depression like it’s. A different place anybody else ?
Yeah After all, silent hill is the big checker. If u do something horrible or have a dirty secret hide deep down inside you, silent hill will check you. But if u just a normal person with nothing to hide or fear, silent hill is a normal town, maybe lonely, quiet, foggy....but peaceful and sometimes beautiful So the music the theme combine these 2 things, something peaceful yet haunting and depressing Whenever i feel like i want my soul to fly out of this body. This music, this theme calm me, ease my sorrow and pain. Somehow we r living in our own silent hill tho
A World Of Madness has a strange effect... it's discordant, but rhythmic. It repeats. It keeps my mind alert, I doesn't relax me like other tracks do. It's almost motivational.
This kind of musics makes me think I'm going in a long journey in either a car or walk in the fog or just anywhere. The first song makes me feel like I'm driving to silent hill to figure out my own fear and then to conquer it. It does or did at one time while playing the game did scare me but it made me depressed but I fought through it. The whole thing is such a good listen to music.
@@nothingshouldbewithouteffort That depends if you see them as monsters. Eddie didn't see the monsters in SH2. Laura didn't either. Only James did, who was haunted by his past.
This theme always makes me think of a revelation. Which is excellent on the Silent Hill series, because not only do the protagonists realise something, so do the player. Theme catches that magic brilliantly.
Takes me back to where video games held more meaningfulness than today’s video games. I still resonate today with these works of art. If I got lost in a place like silent hill I better hear in the background then I’d be like cool I’m down.
Just sittin here workin mid shifts at night. Basically a call center I guess. Usually only work with one other person, but I love being able to work by myself. I get to just meditate with stuff like this on.
This music helped me sleep in times i couldnt imagine falling asleep when im most disturbed and i just kept listening to this kept imagining silent hill and it helped a lot im thankful to Akira Yamaoka and the whole team behind Silent Hill masterpiece of a game. Props to this mix this is the best mix i could find super calm.
Приятная музыка. Очень успокаивает и провоцирует задуматься над скоротечностью жизни, потоком энергии, поведении, людях, времени. Люблю такое слушать на фоне и совсем не надоедает ^.^
I have always had such a love for Silent Hill 2 as well as 3, and I think a big factor in that is Yamaoka’s wonderful soundtracks in the games. To me Silent Hill 2 just did an incredible job at making a player question everything around them, and I still haven’t found a game that can top this one yet for me. It’s just so masterfully created. I tend to always come back to the game and I think that really says something about the story behind it. It still managed to draw people in after being in existence for 2 decades.
Thanks for including songs of Shattered Memmories here, too many people prefer to ignore it because it wasn't that good compared to other entries in the franchise.
I've always had an issue with Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me. I will spare you the details but it was what I was listening to during the night of a very traumatic event for me. After doing some thinking over the event and not letting it have its hold on me, the song is hauntingly beautiful.

You're welcome.
@@YouNeedATeacheryou should be thanking the composer who made the music lol
Man, there is just something about this .....its haunting and comforting all at once.
SILENT HILL , MOVIE AND GAME = MASTERPIECE ! I MISS THE GOOD OLD DAYS! THIS MOVIE IS EVERYTHING
a lot of people hated it but i love it
@@heathermason8516 lovin the name
Even my dad loves the movie, they made a good choice choosing to include music from the games.
I want silent hill music as my wedding and for my funeral music. Hill 1 and 2 are simply something special. Takes my mind to a special place. Thank you for putting this music here to be enjoyed.
Akira Yamaoka is himself a masterpiece!
i dont get how people didn't like the first silent hill movie,,,as far as games go it was a hella dam good movie converted from a video game.
This song has always stirred something deep in me. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
There’s like, 20 songs in this video 😂
I find peace... right now in the world we live in... Silent Hill sounds like heaven.
i wish there would be a silent hill 1-3 remake like resident evil 2
the amount of money i’d give for them to do this
TLDR: these oldies have their own charm when played in their own consoles.
For some reason Konami don't want to make money
From what I recall, they remade Silent Hill 1 and fucked it up completely. So far as to completely remove the fog which game the first game its atmosphere. I get it was initially there because of console limitations rather than the actual effect it caused, but it became a massive factor in it.
NOOOOOOOOOO!!! actually it's not capcom so it would probably be good
Thank you tremendously for the music. I noticed that a many Silent Hill mixes had, for some reason, been purged from RUclips. I'm glad you're keeping the spirit alive. Silent Hill tracks are some of my favorite to just get lost in.
Nice TWEWY icon :)
It's nostalgic, haunting, sad, creepy, and calming
I’m going to reply to this simply so it will bring you to back to this music, until next time
@@cheyennespuzzle3955 thanks for bringing me back 8 months later 😂👍
Silent Hill warms my heart in some way that I cannot explain. Movies, games, soundtrack... Silent Hill is one of the most precious things in this world, in my opinion.
Yeah....never really appreciated the musical brilliance of it , until a couple days ago lol! ...I mean 1-2 songs playing on repeat in my room in high-school was cool,...but it doesn't really do it justice, ya know? ....I'm just now learning its all 1 person , making all this music wow , ...thats really neat as well.
Когда на улице туман,включаю этот саунд)

Hey, I've been writing to this music. It's just peaceful enough that I don't get distracted, but still helps keep me focused. Thank you very much.
You're welcome.
I've never even played Silent Hill. But the first 30 seconds of this video, have gotten me hooked.
Once you go to silent hill you never come back
Oh I hope so
Most underrated comment I've ever seen! Had me rolling!! 🤣🤣
Sleeping in Silent Hill, love that title.
this soundtrack is amazing. i remember my uncle playing this game when i was younger. this game would be nothing without the soundtrack. damn
I've never actually delved into this before, but now that I have, I'm binging lol!
Silent hill speaks to me so much in the hard times I have. This music saved me
Same here Mr X! And I hope you managed to catch Claire Redfield by now 😉

The creators of the Silent Hill music whether it's the games or the films..... They're on another level quite honestly.
This music is just different and I don't think it's really possible to describe it or the feeling it gives
It’s one guy. Akira Yamaoka
The first track is so wonderful that I want to cry it.
Music perfection, like the gentle sound of an autumn leaf falling on the water. We call it Art.
Akira Yamaoka can evoke feelings I didn't know I had. He's amazingly talented and his music helped me enjoy video games
If anything, this soundtrack can make anyone reflect of what's happened within their lives. And that's not a bad thing.
can't think of any other piece of music that delivers the same feeling of being completely lost but remaining hopeful as well as this does
this brings me back memories, silent hill was distressing but beautiful at the same time
Yeah never played the game....just enjoyed how trippy the movie was,...it was so different, unlike the norm sci- fi stuff these days.
Im here after Remake was announced, im so happy!!!
Memories of me playing Silent as a kid and teenager come to my mind right now...
Damn, those were really good times.
I played the second one on HD Collection about 2 months ago and it still does the trick, almost cried again at the end
Tal cual hermano!

@@sir_jerhyn I remember searching Google for a good and fitting picture for a really long time until I finally found this. I might still have it somewhere but I'm not home right now.
Only the sinless can sleep in and roam Silent Hill undisturbed.
Thanks for silent hill music tracks though . They're beautiful.. ❤🥰
Welcome.
This is the best Silent Hill playlist on RUclips by a LONG shot. Congratulations, my dude.
Thank you so much!
I feel so calm and have a connection like it’s a different universe like I like silent hill in general and hopefully a new game comes out I’m currently playing homecoming it’s good . But this music and silent hill in general help me escape my depression like it’s. A different place anybody else ?
Yeah
After all, silent hill is the big checker. If u do something horrible or have a dirty secret hide deep down inside you, silent hill will check you. But if u just a normal person with nothing to hide or fear, silent hill is a normal town, maybe lonely, quiet, foggy....but peaceful and sometimes beautiful
So the music the theme combine these 2 things, something peaceful yet haunting and depressing
Whenever i feel like i want my soul to fly out of this body. This music, this theme calm me, ease my sorrow and pain.
Somehow we r living in our own silent hill tho
I can’t take how good ‘Resting Comfortably - Silent Hill 4: The Room’ is.
Therapy: expensive and uncomfortable
30 minutes of Searching the Past from Silent Hill: Shattered Memories: free and comfy
oof this ambience gives me chills but its hauntingly beautiful
I can't imagine finding a place to sleep in Silent Hill would be easy.
And place safe enough to hide from the darkness hours... when everything is transformed into grotesque forms.
...😱😱!
@@nothingshouldbewithouteffort That depends if you see them as monsters. Eddie didn't see the monsters in SH2. Laura didn't either. Only James did, who was haunted by his past.
@@crylune great point.
Am honestly not thoroughly familiar with _all_ of the SH permutations.
@@crylune Laura doesn’t see them at all i’m pretty sure. She’s a child so I think to her it just looks like a quiet empty town
Finally a version without bloody rain
This music....so beautiful. it is strange, but it gives peace
This theme always makes me think of a revelation. Which is excellent on the Silent Hill series, because not only do the protagonists realise something, so do the player. Theme catches that magic brilliantly.
I listen to this when im depressed it helps me rest and stay calm in dark situations TwT
never played silent hill, but the music draws me in like a moth to a light
I sleep with it when I get insomnia
Takes me back to where video games held more meaningfulness than today’s video games. I still resonate today with these works of art. If I got lost in a place like silent hill I better hear in the background then I’d be like cool I’m down.
I will always come back to this soundtrack!!
The music is very melancholic, it travels our minds to another place, which can't be explained.. only felt
When beautiful memories blend perfectly with pain and regret.
I sleep like a baby listening to this every night. Reminds me of a better time as well as relaxing.
Incrível como que as ost de Silent hill nos passa o sentimento de melancolia, tristeza e até mesmo paz
Just sittin here workin mid shifts at night. Basically a call center I guess. Usually only work with one other person, but I love being able to work by myself. I get to just meditate with stuff like this on.
I listen to this with my wife almost each night 🌙 pretty relaxing it help us to sleep 💤
Akira Yamaoka is a genius. He knows how to use the silence very well 🙌
This music helped me sleep in times i couldnt imagine falling asleep when im most disturbed and i just kept listening to this kept imagining silent hill and it helped a lot im thankful to Akira Yamaoka and the whole team behind Silent Hill masterpiece of a game. Props to this mix this is the best mix i could find super calm.
Приятная музыка. Очень успокаивает и провоцирует задуматься над скоротечностью жизни, потоком энергии, поведении, людях, времени. Люблю такое слушать на фоне и совсем не надоедает ^.^
This is suprisingly relaxing to sleep to
By far the best silent hill playlist on RUclips. The order of the songs are great too
Thank you very much, glad you enjoy it.
.. a mother is god in the eyes of a child...
There’s something about it that feels so dark and unknown but special
I Love you Silent Hill! From Brazil
E nois
I have always had such a love for Silent Hill 2 as well as 3, and I think a big factor in that is Yamaoka’s wonderful soundtracks in the games. To me Silent Hill 2 just did an incredible job at making a player question everything around them, and I still haven’t found a game that can top this one yet for me. It’s just so masterfully created. I tend to always come back to the game and I think that really says something about the story behind it. It still managed to draw people in after being in existence for 2 decades.
It feels like I’m at home when listening to this.
Thanks for including songs of Shattered Memmories here, too many people prefer to ignore it because it wasn't that good compared to other entries in the franchise.
Great game. That ending was executed brilliantly and the music was on point.
Who here after Silent hill 2 release
I've always had an issue with Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me.
I will spare you the details but it was what I was listening to during the night of a very traumatic event for me.
After doing some thinking over the event and not letting it have its hold on me, the song is hauntingly beautiful.
This is so beautiful , it thrills and chills me 💕
ahhhhhh yeah...... so relaxing..... still cant forget this movie.... its one of my most favorite movie and video game....
Спасибо чувак, под это приятно засыпать 👍 умиротворение

Thank you.
This incredibly grim and often horrifying series has some of the best calm music.
