    Disclaimer & Important Update (as of 9-22-24): I just learned today that the FDA is currently conducting a post-market review of microneedling devices. From what I just discovered, it appears that only nano needle cartridges are permitted for consumer use; other cartridges are classified as prescription-only and available only to licensed healthcare professionals. Many websites (including Amazon and AliExpress) have stopped selling these products to consumers in the USA, and Temu is the last storefront offering them. I recently bought some supplies from Temu temu.to/m/unfc559f5jf but they will likely stop selling these things very soon. This video was posted a long time ago when at-home treatments were widely accepted and normal. For full details and updates, please subscribe, check my website www.lifeanddiy.com and follow me on Reddit - as I will post full details and updates.

    I had done it again last night after many months ago, and you had been very helpful in answering my questions.
    You suggested to start with 0.25 which was what i did. Last night i had used numbing cream and i used 1mm which didn't hurt at all. This time i didn't have much reaction after and my face was pretty much back to normal the next day. I did put a crazy lot of copper peptide and Hyrulornic serum, and then a collagen mask overnight.
    I had found my pores shrink after and i have very large pores
    I did feel though find the nose and bridge is harder to get on.
    And totally agree on doing it on the whole face since the cartridge can't be reused.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 месяца назад +1

      Anne, thanks so much for sharing this! That is great to hear. And, you are right on about the nose. It is so hard to get to. I think there are other options for stams or rollers that might work better on the nose. Dr. Rajani just posted a video on microneedling at home and it was so helpful - ruclips.net/video/1r6MdKDhE-M/видео.html if you want to check it out. I am thinking of getting a derma stamp to reach the nose or certain areas better. I'm so glad the pores seem to have shrunk. I have noticed the same thing when I microneedle regularly.

    Hi Holly great video, this video comes at great timing because I bought some micro needle rollers a few years ago and just saw them a few days ago and was thinking if I should try them out and wondering if it would work on my skin and what would I have to do first lol m, so do I need to do anything to my skin first like wash it with any product, soap or how about after doing the needleling do I need to apply anything or just leave it alone or use warm or cold water?? Sorry for all the questions just that the needles look so intimidating 😂. Maybe a live session on you doing the micro needle would be good. Great seeing you again Holly your sking looks so great are you sure you're not younger maybe the hospital got the year on your birth certificate wrong? Jk Hope you're doing great stay safe Holly sorry I haven't watched many of your video posts lately I've been busy building an outdoor kitchen w/ a wood fire pizza oven in my back yard that was left on hold a few years and finally got motivated this summer to finish it and I'm finally seeing progress and getting close to finishing it it's been really hot this summer so it"s taken longer due to it. Hey, I’ve watched a few of your videos and never heard you mention using Tretinoin in combination with microneedling. Have you considered this? They can produce very similar results so might be useful. I’ve just started Tretinoin, and have a dermaroller for hair growth. Studies have shown they can actually work synergistically and enhance the effects for both hair and skin, Tretinoin even enhances minoxidil absorption to the scalp. But it has to be done responsibly as they’re potent and harsh treatments.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  Год назад +3

      Great question! I haven't been using Tretinoin with microneedling yet. I'm going to look into this more. I think you've just given me a good video idea - so thank you. I would like to see how my skin handles it. I haven't been using Tretinoin at all, though I have used it in the past from time to time. I've tried to get my skin acclimated to it numerous times, but it's never happened. Maybe I need to try more products or different formulations out as they've always been too harsh, or my skin just peels non-stop. How have you been doing with using it? What percentage is it? That's great you're using the dermaroller for hair growth. I've heard positive things about microneedling/dermarolling and hair growth, in combination with things. I have heard great things about minoxidil working really well too. I was thinking of doing a video on that too. Hopefully you'll get some great results!

    • @kristiangurholt59
      @kristiangurholt59 Год назад

      @@LifeDIY That’s great! It’s currently my third day on Tretinoin, and I’m definitely noticing increased sensitivity and redness. I’m using 0.05%, so “mid” strength. I first started out with Retinal 0.05 and 0.1 % three weeks ago, to somewhat prepare my skin for Tretinoin. Using Retinal 0.05% every night for 1-2 weeks did not cause issues, and I think it’s a great place to start.
      The most important thing by far is to keep the skin hydrated and protected with SPF50, even when inside. I wear sunscreen and a cap on cloudy days and still get rosy cheeks, so yeah this can’t be overstated.
      As far as combining Tret with microneedling, it’s unclear how often I’d be able to microneedle at 0.05mm, which is what I have. I understand people like yourself who use it on the face do it no more than once a month, but on the hair-loss side of things I’m seeing people using even multiple times a week. Although it is tempting to use both treatments at once (+ minoxidil and Finasteride for the hair), realistically, I think it’s best to get used to Tret over however many months it takes before possibly combining with microneedling.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  Год назад

      Great question! I know it is definitely safe to do microneedling around the lips to treat liplines. On the lips - from what I've gathered so far is that it is safer to do nanoneedling. Or, if you have a dermaroller, it would be safer to use that on the lips than a microneedling pen with a needle cartridge. I think if someone were to treat their lips with a normal needle cartridge, that could be done as well at a VERY low depth setting. You may want to check out Penny's video here: ruclips.net/video/SXPcyFhVcRo/видео.html as she shares her nano needling methods with a Dr. Pen. She does use it to treat her lips, but she's using a nano-cartridge instead of a needle one. Also if someone is prone to cold sores, be careful with this!

      @LifeDIY  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for such a sweet, kind comment! Doctors tend to say different things on this topic. But, for the most part I have heard that you should wait a week in between treatments. If you've done a medium depth TCA peel (if you've had a lot of peeling like in my videos) then I personally would wait 2-3 weeks after the peel before doing microneedling. If I did a microneedling treatment, I feel like my skin heals pretty fast, though there's still healing going on that you can't see (collagen production, etc.). I would try to wait at least two weeks before doing anything like a TCA peel. This is just a personal preference though because I don't want to overdo it with the skin treatments, or create an issue of hyper pigmentation due to too much irritation, etc.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  2 дня назад +1

      I think the 11-pin is a great option. You might want to use some brightening serums in your skincare to try to prevent more pigmentation issues - like alpha arbutin or other brightening serums that have a combination of ingredients. Also, if you don't wear sunscreen, the issues will get worse after you do these treatments. You probably know that already, but just wanted to mention it just in case!

    • @PrettylilSecretX
      @PrettylilSecretX 6 дней назад

      Stamping is the best option cause rolling drags the needles across the skin which isn’t ideal. With stamping you can also replace the cartridge each time. Reusing needles is not recommended as it’s not very sanitary and the needles become blunt after each use.

    What are your thoughts on Opus Plasma treatment?

    The skin on ny whole body (especially legs and hands) becane very thin and wrinkly after having fillers and having some disolved. I was wondering if microneedling could have good results on the body too? I've been using tretinoin 0.1% on my body for a few months and I am not seeing improvement. I have also ordered TCA 20% to do a chemical peal after watching one of your videos. ❤

      Sorry to hear about that. If it were me, I'd definitely try the microneedling on the body. I haven't done it yet but I have seen videos where people have done this and I know of people who treat their arms, stomach, etc. I remember seeing a video of a lady who was dermarolling her stomach that had loose skin and it made a massive difference. I really hope it helps you too.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  Год назад +1

      I personally use the 12 or 14 needle cartridge (something around that amount). I've just never purchased a 36 needle cartridge and haven't tried that one yet. If you look up Penn Smith skincare, I know a long time ago she did a video on the topic of cartridges and which ones she recommends for different things.

Last question, have you ever done microneedling on your lips? I have been seeing it on social, and I believe the aesthetics office I go to does it now?? :)

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  Месяц назад

      I personally don't, but many people do use it. If you do, just be careful to wash it off really well. Also, you may want to read a bit more about numbing creams as there are some risks to using them. Most people don't have any issues though.

    I’m fucking amazed by how timeless you look, you don’t look young or old you look « timeless » this is weird but in a good way. I’m very afraid of the thirties when my Face will begin to look old but honestly if i’m sure that i would look like the masculine équivalent of you i wouldn’t be worried. Your type of timeless look is even better than a young face, you have the full bone structure of an adult but with a good skin, i can see some marks of age on your face around the mouth for example but it doesn’t look old it’s weird it’s Not saggy at all it’s just … marks like it’s cute in fact it’s Not something negative like Most people your age have that make saggy face, congrats

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  Год назад +2

      Wow, thank you! I wouldn't worry about looking older in your 30s as that's still pretty young. Guys tend to look even more handsome with age. If you just wear sunscreen it can make a huge difference, plus if you do some glycolic peels + sun protection, your skin will stay youthful for a long time. We'll all get wrinkles eventually and it's ok. I think people are getting sick of the over-use of fillers and botox and the natural look will be appreciated more. 🙏

    Can you confirm that you use 0.5mm depth around the eyes?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  Год назад +2

      Thanks for asking this! Yes, I do 0.5mm for most of the area around my eyes, although I am not sure if I clearly mentioned that if I have some lines on the side of my eye area, I will do a quick 1.5mm there. It is painful though. If i have lines lower down under the eyes, I will also do a quick 1.5mm treatment. I try to stick to 0.5 in the area closer to the eyes.
      The only issue is the inner corner area, right under the eye. I can't feel it at all in the area right under the inner corner (where people get hallowing) because my skin is not flat there. So in that case I will increase the depth, just so that it touches the skin in that one little area. Otherwise since I can't lay it flat, I can't do a treatment there. I am not really going that deep, as I am just trying to get the needles to get into the skin in that area. I really hope that makes sense! I should have explained this in the video. But, I can explain it in another one coming up.

    Micro needling or chemical peels for fine lines?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  Год назад +2

      These are some great questions! It's close, but I'd say peels. You can check out my post here: lifeanddiy.com/before-after-microneedling-dietary-changes-tca-glycolic-peels-10-years/ to see the types of results I've had from different skincare methods at home. I've been experimenting and documenting for years. When it comes to fine lines and wrinkles, I have noticed more of an improvement from the peels. It's weird though because I did have lines on the very sides of my forehead (both sides) and I didn't do a good job with my before photos, to capture that. They totally went away from microneedling (and have never come back yet). I think if you can do both treatments here and there, it will help the most.

      Great question! I used to do it a lot more regularly but nowadays I can go many months without doing it. Somehow I feel like I'm maintaining a lot of the results still even without doing it that often.

    So do you use the glycolic acid toner before microneedling? As in before you use the alcohol on your face?.
    I know you said that you use an alcohol based toner. Is this the one?.
    Sorry, I'm brand new and get confused.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  2 месяца назад

      Most often I just clean my face with alcohol prior to microneedling - for safety/sanitation. It's better to do that. :) But, I recall a long time ago though I would use an alcohol-based toner from Platinum Skincare. If straight alcohol is too harsh, that would be a good option. But, I think most doctors would recommend using alcohol.
