I had 3 1/month micro needling treatments on my face, neck and chest and now I get a treatment once every 6 months. I have noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin, but feel like this is more of a long term aid for my aging skin. I have also started incorporating many of the products you have recommended for skin care (vitamin C, retinol, glycolic acid, peptides…). I started this at age 51. Wish I would have started at age 30. Thanks for your videos. Very informative. 😀

I love micro needling. I just did my own home treatment 2 weeks ago and it really rejuvenated my skin. I did a 2.5 mm in some areas and lesser on thinner areas and I’m aiming for the every 4-6 week treatment. I have definitely noticed that the skin does need a good 2-3 week period to rejuvenate and heal. I did get some cold sore outbreaks because my skin is sensitive but I’ll be taking antivirals during my next treatment. It has been 100% worth it.

Hello doctor!! I hope you reply to this. Since i cant afford a dermatologist or a dermapen because they both are very costly, I ordered a dermastamp it has 0.25 to 3.00mm needle setting with titanium needles. Thank you Dr.Sam it’s a great video. You mentioned that one session is not sufficient to see the best results. Can you please tell me how many sessions are needed and what should be the time gap for each session? Thanks again for this best video 😊
Thank you so much for this video, Dr Ellis! I've heard before that applying vitamin c after microneedling can result in foreign body granulomas. Is this true? Also, can you clarify the minimal depth the needles should be in order to stimulate collagen to heal acne scars? I've heard that some aesthetician clinics tend to use shorter depths for the first 1-2 microneedling sessions, but if the concern is acne scarring, I'm curious as to whether a gentler treatment would be effective for this concern? Is a more "aggressive" treatment that uses longer needle depths necessarily better?
It can! Really depends on the specific product applied! For acne scarring you need to be deeper in the dermis but we also know that once you increase the needle depth beyond 1.5mm, the actual depth of penetration becomes more unpredictable. Generally “gentle” treatments are not that effective for acne scars (and specifically acne scars in which there is significant texture to the skin, not just irregular pigmentation).
@@DrSamEllis for acne scars, maybe more than 1,5 because when we roll with it, the effective size who go in the skin is not 1,5 but a little bit less ( sorry for my broken English) agree ? 🇫🇷
I had radio frequency Microneedling done today and while I didn’t even feel it for most of my face, it hurt along the hairline (manageable) and was really uncomfortable under my eyes. Worse than PRP under my eyes for sure but not the worst thing ever. I’d do it again but it’s not comfortable!
Q: What is the age cutoff for this procedure? I'm a 62-year-old male with acne scars and I'm not sure if there's any collagen left so I wanted an honest answer from a professional. Thx!
Yes. I would like to see/ hear the differences between them. Also, would like to have her discuss differences and show results of chemical peels vs microneedling or laser
I’ve had 2 micro needling treatments from a reputable business, owned by a nurse practitioner. I’ve also had Botox and fillers. My treatments were given by a nurse . My skin doesn’t even get red after the treatments. I’m wondering if I need more aggressive treatments. I’m 72 years old.
The esthetician at my dermatologist office recommended only micro needling for my aging skin which has significant Sun damage, redness and hyperpigmentation…however, I have a few small areas of psoriasis on my face. Should I still do it? Thank you…love your videos, so helpful!
No, as a professional Licensed Master Esthetician and Nutritionist, I would advise getting your psoriasis under control on your face first with internal nutrition, BEFORE “opening a can of worms.” I would encourage you to seek alternative skin healing correction utilizing other methods for your particular skin type and condition such as (Light therapy) and the use of stem cells/growth factors with a good clinical and holistic topical skin care routine and a skin health lifestyle diet and change of life. No gluten, sugar, dairy. Control stress with adrenal support supplementation. 😊
Love your videos! Would you be able to do a video about accutane? More specifically the aftercare after you finish your course? I am in this spot right now and would welcome some additional advice/ tips. Thank you!
How long will the results last? If i am treating acne scars, will i need to be ongoing regularly repeating this treatment to keep results? I am already planning on getting 4 treatments in about 4 months, but am wondering about after that.
What do you think of micro needling for rosacea prone skin. I just have redness on my checks without any skin texture issues. I have had many treatment of IPL. I have had three micro needling sessions. However some aestheticians do not recommend it. I do not think that my micro needling did not make my rosacea any worse.
Hello from London Dr Ellis :) Can I please ask you how long before a procedure with micro needling I have to stop using my prescription tretinoin 0.05. Because every one I asked says something different like 2 months or 6 months. Some ppl told me even 2 weeks only. I don’t believe them so I turn to you for help. Many thanks in advance xxx
Hello Dr. Ellis, I have an upcoming appointment to get radio frequency microneedling by my dermatologist. I been reading some side effects that can happen is facial fat loss, is this common to happen? After seeing that is concerning me. Also what is reasonable price to charge for radio frequency microneedling? Per session they will be charging me $1200 and I am located in Chicago. Is that price reasonable?
What impact would receiving treatments with several months or even years in between sessions have? For instance, undergoing two treatments with a six-month gap within a single year and then receiving another treatment in the subsequent year-could this variance in the timing of follow-up treatments potentially affect the outcomes, given that the intervals between treatments are not consistently one month?
Hi Dr. your video just popped up on my suggested page today and love your videos and content! Would you recommend professional PRF microneedling for skin of color with mild melasma, major concern is aging and overall texture? Thanks
I got microneedling for the first time. The skin clinic didn't put any numbing cream on me because they said it's not needed. It didn't hurt me at all and I didn't bleed. I think they didn't go deep enough. Should I look to going to another place? Will I see the same results if they are not going deep enough? They are a certified clinic.
Thank you for this interesting video. Now, I've done a series of micro needling once, and was not blown away with the results tbh. Now, I am curious about stepping up a level with RF micro needling, like Vicace or Morpheus8. My main focus is just to keep my skin in the best condition as I (obviously) turn older. Can you recommend these treatments and which one would you maybe recommend most? Thanks!
Both are good devices! Reallllly depends on the person performing the treatment. Also, the better your skin is to start, the less improvement or “wow result” you’ll see.
Hi I’ve been doing micro needling once a month on my face and my scalp for quite a while and I love it but I just got the doctor pen eight and I use that on my face and I was blazing hot red the next morning I woke up and it was all gone and then I put on my sunscreen and my face turned blazing red and hot again and I was a sunscreen that I use all the time the Elta MD. I only use the .5 needle any suggestions for next time?
I have EDS and my scars are atrophic, I've always wondered if microneedling and or lasers, etc would be good for me, or if there is something special I need to do to take care of my skin 🤔
YES!!! I wonder so much how EDS impacts all sorts of different cosmetic procedures that are available - I’d love to have a dermatologist who specializes in treating the skin of EDS patients!
Does the depth or length of needles matter? I did a few rounds at one place and had a couple days of recovery (sunburned look first day followed by tiny red dots on my face for another day or two). Then I did a few rounds at another place and hardly had any recovery (skin looked totally normal the next day). Makes me wonder if the second place didn’t go deep enough. So, maybe very few benefits in the latter example?
Excellent synopsis of the treatment. I appreciate the segment on contraindications as well. Quick question about that: I have seen a meta-analysis about microneedling as an effective treatment for vitiligo (at least for repigmentation). Does skin of individuals with vitiligo tend to respond differently to repeated rather than single/initial trauma? In other words, would one expect different outcomes from scar treatment/s versus treatment to a depigmented but unscarred area? I'm just trying to reconcile the recommendations and appreciate your expertise. Thank you.
Hello , would getting microneedling and a TCA peel at the same time be a good idea ? I’m scheduled to have that done at a medi spa after they suggested it but I can’t seem to find good info on having those 2 procedures done together in the same day . Thanks !
Hi, thank you for your informativ videos. . Could you please comment on this, I am a little worried I have ruined my skin rather than built it: I had my very first Dermapen needling 3 weeks ago. They put a rich layer of 1 % retinol (from ZO skincare) on top of my skin just after the treatment and recommended to put 0.5 % retinol on my skin every night. I had never used retinol before. During the day I was recommended to use Illuminating AOX serum and also Power defense, all from ZO. My skin reacted with redness, dryness and cracking for almost 2 weeks. It was also painful every time I put on this cream for the same period. I do not mind the pain if this is healthy treatment for my skin, but I wonder if this a damaging way? MY skin is fair and my age is 63!
I am not a doctor, but can tell you what a dermatologist and cosmetic doctor told me 6 months ago. Higher dose Retinol on sensitive skin every day is not recommended. Dtr told me I could safely try a very low dose Tretinoin 0.25% 1x a week - very small amount - pea size - only before bed. Wash off in am and wear sunscreen before going out in the sun in the day. Retinol and Tretinoin makes your skin more sensitive to sun, so advised must wear sunscreen and only use at night. I had not had not had microneedling done either. I would have thought Retinol too harsh right after that procedure based on what they said?

I had radio frequency Microneedling done today and while I didn’t even feel it for most of my face, it hurt along the hairline (manageable) and was really uncomfortable under my eyes. Worse than PRP under my eyes for sure but not the worst thing ever. I’d do it again but it’s not comfortable!
Dear dr. Ellis, I am a big fan! All videos are very useful and perfectly explained! I will be very thankful if there is a topic about hyaluron pen :)
Please do a video on radiofrequency.
What is Emface treatment? How does it work ? Worth it?
Q: What is the age cutoff for this procedure? I'm a 62-year-old male with acne scars and I'm not sure if there's any collagen left so I wanted an honest answer from a professional. Thx!
A helpful video 👍🏼can you do a comparison between microneedling vs fractional lasers, pros and cons of every one.
I have done like more than 10 session it just make my skin look glowing and healthy but the scar still there ...
How do you feel about microneedling for laxity in a 65 year old neck? Add microcurrent?
Hello from London Dr Ellis :)
Can I please ask you how long before a procedure with micro needling I have to stop using my prescription tretinoin 0.05.
Because every one I asked says something different like 2 months or 6 months. Some ppl told me even 2 weeks only. I don’t believe them so I turn to you for help. Many thanks in advance xxx
I would go by the advice of whoever is doing your treatment! I usually don’t have my patients stop ahead of time.
AWSOME and well detailed video
Hi dr sam!! Does micro needling with prp cause spider veins? Or make them worse?
What do you think of Dr Pen?
Thanks
Love this video !!! Can you explain Clear & Brilliant?
I got microneedling for the first time. The skin clinic didn't put any numbing cream on me because they said it's not needed. It didn't hurt me at all and I didn't bleed. I think they didn't go deep enough. Should I look to going to another place? Will I see the same results if they are not going deep enough? They are a certified clinic.
yes, go elsewhere.
you are simply the best ! I love your videos
Can we use for scar..
@@DrSamEllis Thanks for this helpful answer! (I'll give you an update after my treatment -somewhere this autumn (Europe)).

Doesn't RF cause fat atrophy?
Is facial acupuncture helpful to boost collagen production?
What about if you have rosacea or thread or spider veins? Can it make it worse ?
Can you use micro needling fir rosacea?
What serums are needed at treatment to remove scars?
@@kouten07 Tretinoin 0.25% > 1% retinol. Both just take time. You are not damaging you skin.
Hiiii🤍 love your vids! I’m an esthetician & I’m hearing more about microchanneling can you please explain the difference between channeling & needling.
Can you recommend Prequel products for post microneedling care?
I need to start these again. Can you do a video on the Biorepeel, please?
Hello, Hope you're having a great day!!!
I live in a small town and only have one office that provides micro needling lasers RF ECT. So my question is if I use at home RF do I have to stop that first certain amount of time before going for my needling PRP, or for any amount of time after? And yes I am having problems getting my answer from the local provider and might want to call around but it seemed to be very knowledgeable and I would love to hear your feedback...
You generally don’t need to stop at-home treatments but always check with the person who did your consultation and is planning to do your treatment.
Hi dr I'm about to end my isotretinoin course for cystic acne , the medication is about to end but a derm recommended me to go for microneedling while taking the medicine on alternate days to reduce chances of triggering acne again? Is it ok to do it like this? I'm from Pakistan with brown skintone prone to hyperpigmentation, i have some keloids scars and mainly Atrophic scars on cheeks
CONSISTENCY is the key. My husband uses the Banisher 2.0 WEEKLY for 5 yrs now. It is a dermastamp with smaller needles. His skin is way better than mine now 🥹
How long did it take to see good results?
@@Drizzydrippy 6th to 8th use.. people thought he did something *expensive* to his skin.. little did they know we found an affordable option with banisher 2.0
Does he use moisturizers or any product the 1st 4 days after? How does he disinfect the roller?
@@kouten07 oh yea he does. ANY serum/moisturizer will do. As long as it doesnt have retinol or harmful chemicals. He uses the Banish Vit C Creme and Fighter Gel
Wow how many times does he use his Banisher before he has to replace it? Replacing it often sounds expensive
Is mirconeedling good for active acne and pigmentation?
What a beautiful and smart lady.
What procedures can be done to help reduce the appearance of old surgical scars?
I took nytol before and after micro needling. Will this ruin my results?
I have breakouts on my chin. Should I wait for it to clear up before I micro needle with my pen I just ordered? It’s an electric microneedling pen.
I have had x9 chemical peels then x3 microneedling for pitted acne scars. Little, if any, change. What to try next - laser? RF? LED? Subcision? filler? Everything probably, lol.
Have you tried tretinoin?
Hi! I'm in the Bay Area (Marin) and I have a very intelligent and sought after derm, but I don't feel like she cares (I have to do a bunch of research and come up with my own suggestions most of the time) and she always tries to upsell!!! What is your waiting list like? Lol
Zane, by any chance?

How long do effects last?
Can you do microneedling if you have rosacea/acne rosacea ?
Loved this one, thank you. One question though, when you say "a series of treatments", what is the protocol you recommend? I've had 2 at 30 days and the third coming up soon.
Usually 4-6 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart!
How many months do we have to wait after microneedling to start Accutane please ?
Thank you for your vidéo Dr, it has been of a great interest for me Who really gets afraid from cosmetic skincare. I want you to reassure me in order that I go for a microneedling treatment. In fact, I read a lot about many methods and techniques for getting rid of my pores and some lines on my face (34 yo), but all the dermatologists over here propose filling with the hyarolonic acid. I hate to start directly with filling and I hate to do filling with whatever product, but they insist. I would like to start with a microneedling first then why not I pass to chemical peeling, and if all these do not give a good result I will pass then to filling with other effecient substances. What do you think about my reasoning Dr.
Thank you again for your video.
I'm curious about dry brushing in combination with microneedling, is there any benefit, how often to dry brush since needling is only done once a month, thanks
do you have a video on teeth whitening? your teeth r perfectly white
Does it help with smiles lines and how many session required
This was helpful thank you xx
