It doesn't matter what I'm watching on youtube when I fall asleep. I always wake up to Comics Explained videos. And this isn't a complaint. Rob's calm storytelling voice is a good one to have in your speakers while you are sleeping. This channel is the best way to catch up on the comic world for a lot of us who don't have the time to read all the comics. Rob's love of comics shines through in his narration, and so usually, whatever video I wake up to, today it's this one, I will restart, grab my coffee, and watch in it's entirety. Anyways, yeah I just wanted to shout out this channel. Time to make coffee.
Y2K is convenient. I can round up any year from the 1900’s and add the current year. 1992 was 8 years before 2000. Now it’s 2021, so 1992 is 29 years ago. A long time, to be sure! Almost half my life.:)
Yes Cap? I can't answer the emergency Avengers signal today. Yeah I'm dead... yeah I get that it's not the first time but... yeah ok ok I'll let you know when I'm feeling better... yeah ok I'll bring a doctor's note... ok see you when I get raised somehow...
When I was dealing with my kidney failure, my cousin gave me an Iron Man Extremis book you're considering. She's one of the few people that knows I'm into comics, but although I'm DC, I enjoyed this brief ook into Tony's world. Plus, this was after Iron Man 3, so the idea of seeing what Extremis was also getting used ticked my curiosity. I keep it today for sentimental value. Love you, Valeria!!
Spider-Man actually teached me how to read English when I was in foster home in the 80s down in Miami Florida so again I've always given shout outs and props to Stan Lee and the rest of the editors and writers who helped me get into a language that was supposed to be put on me and was not easy that's awesome that this book help you get to one of the darker times reading is so underrated I'm glad you're doing better and you got a chance to read while you were getting yourself better.
just wanna say from over the span of 4,000 videos you have ben potter, you definition left a legacy thru super hero stories, i hope you rest in peace . keep your loved one close. thanks ben
It was NOT a mercy killing that Hawkeye did. It was a trolley problem. Banner said his 1 life is not worth the millions that might die if Hulk goes off the rails. It's selfless by banner, but not assisted suicide. It's a calculated trolley problem.
I think it is worthwhile to cover the older stories before the characters are completely rewritten by large corporate entities who rob them of their complexity and history.
Iron doom is my favourite iron man and dr doom. The blend of magic and science is so cool, plus the look of the cloak and hood is just awesome. Shame they just went back too the same out same out.

1:40:28 Hold on. I just wanna say: If you don't have the right shielding... You KNOW you don't have the right shielding... but you go ahead with the experiment anyways (especially with track record of Gamma Radiation) and it all blows up in your face; That on YOU, not Tony Stark. Also, bringing your kid to a potentially deadly experiment with knowledge that the safety precautions are lack luster is a horrible idea, and puts his mutation into Teen Abomination almost squarely as her fault as well. Okay back to the video haha
Brother I love when u do these two hours to six hours storytelling of the comet books. U don’t know how much u help the people with there depression & suicide thoughts. Keep up the good wrk bro 👍
11:30 I like how he's putting on his Terminator armor to go explore a cramped Underhive. Somebodies gotta burn those witches. The Omnisissiah protects.
It actually reminded me of a battle detailed in the first of the Horus Heresy novels of WH40000, in which the main antagonist, Loken, a Caption of the Luna Wolves legion leads a full battalion of regular infantry and Astartes on a siege/infiltration/massacre into a mountainside fortress. Said fortress is a labyrinthine mass of tunnels and myriad shrines ranging in proportions from chapel to cathedral in size. Said tunnels, on the other hand, weren't constructed with anything so intimidatingly broad and massive as Astartes in their Mark IV Terminator armor in mind. That's a good 10 feet tall, at least and about 5 and a half wide. I mean, it's fine when they get to the center and there's the Bridge of Friggin Khazad-Dum, but getting there was claustrophobic at best. I figured Tony would have chosen something more suitable for the operation than Hulkbuster 2.0 lol.
*_If RDJ finally announced that he's returning to MCU, maybe the "Return Of Iron Man" arc can be very interesting. We know that Iron Man's death is tragically beautiful in Endgame but we need more about it for the next phase._*
Hi Rob - I wish you and your team would work on organizing the older videos into proper playlists. The discoverability of a lot of your old videos is very difficult.
Liked it better when STAN LEE did it. Tyson is just along for the co-sign. Let him stay in Cosmos and his own shows. Like he is in Marvel or something? DuFuh? Yeah, scientist dude, were good! Let Russo Bros and the people that DIRECTED the films explain it.
@16:33 FYI the ISS had a drilled hole to the exterior and all that happened was they lost air over a couple of days, it was first fixed with duct tape. Explosive decompression is just movie magic
@@nobrakes425I know this was years ago, but I think he just meant the wrong thing. He meant in movies where they show people being being killed by being sucked through a tiny hole in a spacecraft etc. Of course he doesn't mean like when a giant hole is opened up in an aircraft instantly and everything not fastened firmly goes flying out.
Nemanja P I've had this happen when I fall asleep listening to podcast episodes. I'll have dreams of some of the shows I listen to recording random episodes. lol
I think Doctor Doom is on of my favorite characters. The more I learn about him, the more I love his character. Deep, like Apocalypse and Thanos. Love your, Rob!
Honestly the villains seem to have much more depth to them. (My two favorite comic book characters are Dr. Doom and Apocalypse for that reason.) It's more than just being a bad guy, it's an ideology and also their experiences that have led them down the path that they have chosen, and the decisions that they make.
For the longest, I was like , what's the point of a 3hr plus video. Well...recently I got sick and some hot tea and listened to the whole thing. Both relaxing, informative, and entertaining.
I don't know if it matters months later, but I love hearing your take on older series just as much, if not more, than modern runs. You do a brilliant job, thank you.
FYI while most RUclips content creators still want your input months even a year after asked. You are part of their ever changing audience and they need to know them and what they want
Tony is my favorite Marvel character, he's the batman of Marvel. He's the most human, he's almost always right, and he's always making contingency plans for any situation to help the most people.
Kinda makes me sad that Doom is not getting a re hashing, its been awhile since a super villain had turned good indefinitely (with such a title anyways) this would of been a unique view and chance to really shake things up.
@Denise Allen I personally really miss the Sorcerer Supreme Iron Man, or "Doctor Stranger" we got some glimpses of. Feel like there's a lot of potential there. Both in intrigue and humor potential.
Honestly, Magneto has more substance than Doom, but I am a Doom fan too. That premise would work with Magneto, but Doom would be cringey, since he is mostly just a snobby rich guy with a ego. Would be nice to see him go good, but it would be such a radical change to his Character.
If anyone wants to make any redeeming concept out of Civil War 2 they should reintroduce the crazy celestial at the beginning. And i agree with Rob on Secret Empire being the real Civil War 2.
To answer your question at the beginning, I'm just happy listening to anything you have to give us comic wise. I love that you're giving us viewers the opportunity to voice our opinions, if we want the new instead of the old comics, but I'm honestly just happy with you putting out content, regardless of whether it's old or not. Do what makes you happy Rob! Your happiness is contagious, and every time you get hyped up or stoked about something happening, us viewers can feel that, and it resonates in a positive way! Keep up the great work! 🤛🤜🤝🤛🤜
You know what be real cool? If Eli were the peacock man from the new X-Men Titles. He wanted to colonize mars, he's rich, he's a genius, and he seems to have an evil streak. Fits perfectly if you ask me.
When you’re a regular person, you go to rehab for substance abuse or trauma. If you’re a marvel superhero however, you join the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Anyone else wonder if Rob slipped up when he said “6 months later Tony was born.” Small peanuts, love the great story anyway. Also love listening to Ron explain entire stories in this format. Makes my work day SOO much better
We need more issues with the Godkiller armor. Either the one in the Tony Stark Iron Man series or the Colossal celestial killer. It doesn't matter. They're both insane.
You are right. There is no conflict between Stark's position in civil war 1 and here. However there is a conflict with his position here, and his sending Hulk into space just in case he became violent again. And we know how that turned out.
It always felt like marvel and and DC were in an Arms Race when it Came to How Many Different armors that Batman and iron Man have, I Mean they Both Have Some Kind of God Slayer Style Armor lol
It’s interesting to consider the fact that Stark has some level of mastery of this tech, his suits, because of the time he’s invested in being iron man. So, by using the suits he has a level up over the extremis users in that first battle.
I find it interesting that Rob chose to begin this with Extremis, rather than Tony as a character's actual beginning. Perhaps Extremis is well enough known to fans to start off there? Nothing before that point is as significant compared to what comes after 🤔?
How is Victor's mom simultaneously powerful enough to stop him from attacking her without breaking a sweat, but was also killed by a bunch of angry peasants with farming tools when he was a kid?
Wow I love this channel… you just got a new sub!!! I just found it last night and I can’t put it down… I remember a lot of the Ironman stories when I was a kid but wow I missed a lot… i missed about oh 10 or so 6ears of comic reading cause I went to collage….. got married … got a job .. you know stuff like that…but when I had kids I started reading my old comics to my kids… and my younger son LOVES Ironman.. my older son is a Star Wars fan… thank you for doing these.. I know when comics to look for now..
Rehashing older stories in different ways sounds very in line, with what disney is doing right now with their movies, so the merger makes a lot more sense from a top down perspective.
Clicking in your vids is like buying a wedding cake a lot of the time. All of it is amazing, but theirs so much your brain can't believe or comprehend how much you have to go through. Leads to me getting half way through the cake, and then shortly after forgetting I had even put it back in the fridge outa necessity.
I’ve listened to enough of your videos to say that in voice, knowledge and genuine excitement for said knowledge, you are the comic book fan version of Neil Degrasse Tyson. Great channel man
Except he has so much wrong information. Excalibur wasn't ever in UK marvel imprint. She Hulk was never in the tv show. Transformers didn't come out in the 60's but in 1984. He doesn't do his research
Infamous Iron Man was such an amazing read. I really loved this version of Doom, it's a damn shame it was all for nothing and it's treated like it never happened.
I couldn't agree more. Tony coming back is kinda cool I guess, and are they going to continue using Ironheart? Idk, but having Doom taking up the mantle of Ironman in Tony's absence and trying to be an actual hero, was so damn good and an interesting direction to go in for his character... it really is a shame if going forward Doom just goes back to his old self... And all it took for it to happen was his face getting scarred up again and Tony coming back?? It took attaining God level powers/abilities and creating a Universe/world in the face of multi-universal collapse, to have Doom realize that he didn't feel like he was serving his true purpose, to make him want to become a hero. But it only takes the return of Tony and some face scars to put him back to being the villain?? I'm sorry but that's a pretty lame way to end what could have been one of if not the best arc for his character.
@Wally Webbs not sure I totally follow what exactly you mean here. I'm assuming you're saying Dooms' character arc ended with the conclusion of Secret Wars. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't a major reason behind Marvel doing the Secret Wars storyline was to allow them to do a reboot across all their comics? It was a way to end characters/comics that weren't selling well while also allowing them to focus on the characters that were selling. On top of that, it was a way to give new comic book fans a brand new place to start reading their favorite heroes as the MCU was generating a whole new fan base. I promise there is a reason I mentioned all that. Dooms' character arc during Secret Wars was totally different from the direction they were going with his character in the Infamous Iron Man story. In Secret Wars, Doom couldn't really be considered a hero or a villain. He had attained all the power, strength, and had (thanks to Reece of course altering the memories of everyone on Battleworld that hadn't arrived via the escape shuttle or whatever it was called) the worship/respect of all his "subjects". He was the closest he's ever actually been to having the life he had always dreamed of. After the survivors show up, they threw a wrench in Dooms dream world, and we got to see his true colors by the end of the story. With Infamous Iron Man though, he was able to actually take a step back from his ego and really reflect on how he really felt during Secret Wars. Instead of always trying to attain more and more power, as well as having Reeds' family as his own (which is honestly what has pretty much always been the underlying motivation driving the choices/actions Doom made) he finally had the chance to reflect on how he really felt after achieving all the things he thought he had always wanted. In doing so he realized that it didn't bring him the happiness and/or fulfillment he thought it would. Realizing this, we actually got to see Doom legitimately pursue another path. Now to tie all this together. We've had literal decades of Doom being the Fantastic Fours villain, driven by the quest to attain more power, proving he is better than Reed, and living the life Reed has. Marvel does the Secret Wars event allowing them to reboot every comic line, do away with the books that aren't selling, and keep the ones that are. By doing a publication wide reboot, I really don't think there's any reason why Marvel couldn't have focused on giving the Fantastic Four a brand new and interesting villain to challenge them in ways they've never had to deal with before. Obviously the MCU made Ironman a crazy popular hero that I'm sure a large number, if not the vast majority, of new readers would want to read, so why not bring Tony back, and just do the same thing they've been doing with him since the reboot? The only difference being, skip all the interactions between Tony and Victor and other than that, proceed with Invincible Ironman just as Marvel has. This way Marvel could have actually continued with Infamous Iron Man and actually done something totally different and actually interesting with Dooms' charafter. Personally I loved and was truly enjoying watching Doom, with all his typical powers/abilities as well as having all the abilities of Ironman, doing his best to be an actual hero for a change. Even just the dynamic interactions Doom had with literally everyone he came across that knew him and trying to convince/prove to basically the entire world that he had truly changed his ways and was genuinely trying to be one of the good guys. After the reboot, so many Marvel titles started with "All New All Different" but they could have ACTUALLY given us all a truly all new and all different take on Doom. His actions, choices, motivations, would have all been new and different. His interactions with both heroes and villains would have all been new and different. Yet, for some reason I not only don't understand, but was pretty disappointed with, Marvel decided to not pursue this brand new character arc for Doom. Not only did they decide to return Doom back to his normal role we've seen him in for decades now, but they used the absolute lamest and weakest reasoning imaginable to make him give up on trying to be the hero. This is all of course just my own personal beliefs and opinions, and I could very well be alone with this opinion, but I really feel like Marvel just threw away the perfect opportunity to actually do something completely different while also making an already interesting character even more interesting by doing something that hadn't been done before with him.
Bruce Banner was established as smarter than Tony Stark 3 times even Stark admitted it and Dr Doom once. Also the reason Kitty can't get through the gate is based on the older Iron man story where Iron man raids Mr Sinister's lab to fulfill a promise he made to wolverine. He found on Mr Sinister's hard-drive that someone was pretending to be a mutant.
@50:15 it looks like Arno is in something like an iron lung. They should have made it actually be an iron lung... That was a missed opportunity. The fake Stark child created a suit of iron to become a superhero, the real starchild was condemned to live in a suit of iron just to breathe
I love these complete compilation. I can't keep up with the individual videos, so these are perfect for someone like me! Keep up the awesome work. I really enjoy your content.

Ironman is very versatile and can be effective in most any given situations. Firstly, he is incredibly resourceful and intelligent with a good sense in how things work, what makes them tick, and generally how he can integrate things into his agenda. He is driven and ambitious without hesitancy and applies technology into his overall campaign. He has a distinct knowledge of the opposition, is goal driven, and is acclimated with scenarios even to their minutest level of detail. He demonstrates ingenuity, creativity, and courage to defeat threats and evildoers in the matrix of attack, conflict, and contention. Ironman has a way to expose the Achilles heal in an adversary and use his body armor to control evil intention. His suit seems to be his alter ego as he transforms from a playboy philanthropist to a larger-than-life superhero righting the wrongs of evildoers and nemesis. Ironman has leadership skills and is qualified to ascertain the opportunity in any given situation. He is an active member of the Avengers and is innovative through his company Stark Enterprise where he markets and sells weaponry and artillery to governments and superpowers. -Gus Guerra MS

When I was dealing with my kidney failure, my cousin gave me an Iron Man Extremis book you're considering. She's one of the few people that knows I'm into comics, but although I'm DC, I enjoyed this brief ook into Tony's world. Neil degrasse is a shill and not praise worthy. Calling him a Jordan B Peterson is a far better comparison.
@@sinare-9090 I couldn't agree more with you on this. They really dropped the ball on it.

That was the most exciting opening I have witnessed.
@50:15 it looks like Arno is in something like an iron lung. They should have made it actually be an iron lung... That was a missed opportunity. The fake Stark child created a suit of iron to become a superhero, the real starchild was condemned to live in a suit of iron just to breathe
When you start talking about mercy killing I honestly laughed when you laughed cuz I was like you're joking right
Could it be possible that cracoa just became the planet Earth itself?
i wish they'd put the armor created by the aspirants in an MCU film, vs some big bad guy, maybe even the celestials themselves ... would be awesomeee
I love these complete compilation. I can't keep up with the individual videos, so these are perfect for someone like me! Keep up the awesome work. I really enjoy your content.

I don't like how Rob was just so casual about the experiment on us part
it really says something when you can hate the depiction of your favorite character, and not hate neither the writer nor the story. cause i love carol for all she is, terrible decisions included, but was soooo wrong in her stance in civil war ii
Since I don't have access to comics, this channel is clutch.
Please make more Full Story videos and/or update the playlists! It'd be greatly appreciated🙏🏾
P.S. you could always do a modern/info update to older videos🤷🏾♂️
Imagine daredevil getting his eye sight and he is in a bright green suit and realizes his tailor lied and noone bothered to ask about the color
I would love to see a story where the mutant Forge gets to manipulate extremis.
To the rest of the universe, Earth must seem like that trashy house in your neighborhood where the cops always get called.
This is just my opinion but if people are true comic book fans then it shouldn’t matter. New or old I love them all. Rob just keep doing what you’re doing because it seems to be working out pretty well for you. 👊🏼
My man made it 3 hour 45 minute long video about iron Man. you have my respect.
I dont mind waiting for story's. Like whem you do the complete story over part 1 and 2.
Ah yes, the “other half of this” 😂 Rob’s always putting together the pieces!
Yeah and?

HOLY BALLS: *CHALLENGE*
Rob, can/could you put a video together on which suits were used in which comics, telling us: ALL OF THE KNOW SUITES, and which suites are your favorite, most useful??? I'd watch it!!!
