Just added the volume controls to an 15 Elantra and kept the OEM cruise module. FYI: there is a screw holding both the volume control and cruise control on the back of the steering wheel, a 1/4" drill bit reversed works pretty good for releasing the air bag, the steering wheel nut has to be released (21mm) to give access to the replacement wiring harness but make sure to mark the steering wheel so it goes back on originally installed (also mark the 21mm nut so you know it's torqued correctly). Easy mod :)
Maybe it’s just my 2014 Hyundai Elantra but you skipped the two screws from the back. I also wished you showed how you removed and threaded the new wiring harness. I ended up disconnecting the battery, completely removing the airbag, and removing the steering wheel. After that it was very easy. Thank you for this video which gave me the baseline and belief I could do this myself.
Not sure but the description is about tacoma and not the elantra. Could post the links in the description of the parts you used for the elantra? BTW awesome I too have 18 trd offroad and my wife has an 12 elantra.
So I just tried going from factory no steering controls to steering controls and they aren’t lighting up ?!? Any suggestions ?!? I feel like I hook them up right
@@TacoRick Please help! Sir, i have only one serious minor issue in my Hyundai i20 2011. The Head Unit, MID Display Unit are all OK. No issues. I do not have issues with HORN. All parts are OEM. However, none of the steering button controls are functioning when the MID Display is in STANDBY SCREEN MODE. First, I have to play media either via Aux, CD or FM using the buttons on the Head Unit. Only thereafter, all steering audio controls are working as normal. Is this normal? Are the steering controls designed to work only when first media is being played. I have also confirmed changes in voltage to the signal input line whenever any steering buttons are pressed. This confirms the signal line is OK. Please help to fix why buttons are not working when MID Display is in standby mode. Thanks.
Man I just did this and none of the controls work now. Unplugged and reconnected all the plugs and still nothing not even the cruse controls work. Not sure what the problem is.
Hey Rick, I had a question for you about tonneau covers. I know you have the gator trifold soft cover and I wondering your thoughts between the soft trifold cover and the hard trifold cover. How has your experience with the soft trifold cover been and do you recommend the soft or recommend get the hard shell? Thanks!

I have the same issue and noticed the wire pins are different on the new harness. Maybe its cause mine was made in Korea and they used separate pins?
What was the part number for the harness?
Hey was wondering if you can do a video explaining how to put leds in the taillights

I like my soft and uts cheaper and lighter to store when not using
How much would it cost to hire someone to do all this?
Parts for the stereo and wiring and wheel controls are around a grand install probably around 800.
Are you disconnecting anything related to the airbag?
No

It already has quite a bit...
@@TacoRick there’s never enough bass
its near impossible to unscrew the back screw of steering wheel switch because you cant see anything.
