    This was helpful, but I have run into a problem on my Right Hand Drive Elantra 2013 AUTO. Got all the way to the pivot pin bolt at the back of the column, got it loose and out about half to 2/3 of the way when the bolt head hits into the brake pedal mounting bracket. Based on other video's I was sure its the coupler now I'm not too sure. You are the only video I've seen that addresses the possibly of the issue do to something else. Appreciate it... A questions I have is at the same time I noticed the side to side clunking I also noticed there is a vibrating/rattling sound coming from under the steering wheel. Any idea of the two are related? Just weird to me that it happened at the same time. I have no issues with ball joints, shocks/struts, steering wheel(drives straight) so not sure what the sound is. It only occurs sometimes when I drive over rocking road and but not when I hit dips. Sounds to me like there is something loose underneath and just banging around. Either way appreciate the video.

      I would think your steering becomes less responsive or squirreley. Is that not the case?

    Ridiculous that this is not a recall. Cheap plastic part not strong enough to do its job. Went out on my car with only 65k miles. Kia Soul here.

    Is there any way you can pull the motor off the steering column by rotating the column without taking the column out?

    • @megatonesilva6546
      @megatonesilva6546 Год назад

      Yes, it's possible.......makes things more frustrating, but definately possible. I've replaced this steering damper bushing on atleast 200 different Hyundai/Kia vehicles. Many different vehicles without taking the steering column completely out of the vehicle. You still gotta unbolt the steering column from the dash, the steering wheel will rest on the seat. Jack up the front of the car so that the wheels are off the ground. Have someone outside the car put their hands on the tires to turn them to the left while you turn the steering wheel AND steering column to the left.......just a little bit. Enough so that the electric steering motor is accessible.
      Another way to do it without having to jack up the front of the car would be to remove the front seat so that the column drops down further with the steering wheel resting on the floor (rather than up higher on the seat.

    Great information. I have found having a digital camera handy is very useful as you pointed out. Thanks for the videos.
