We love the outdoors, but one must be prepared and knowledgeable. When we moved cross country and explored the desert we discovered flash floods, coyotes, etc. We failed to research. So, if you're going out into ANY area, check for expected, (and possibly to you unexpected,) animal/weather/landscape conditions. Research, prepare...then go!

That amount of wind and rain can be dangerous to anyone who is outside longer than what they need to be. Put the groceries in, shut your doors, then put the cart away if you want to.
I have to disagree with you there. It might not be a "job" in the traditional sense, but protecting your family is absolutely a worthwhile effort to risk your life. I'd die happy if it meant they'd be safe. 🛐
