@@TheSizzleDashyeah, funnily enough, I’d imagine the more serious boxer is the chiller dude and vice versa (not that Rick is a “chill boxer” per se but you get it)
I am not terribly good at gaming but I have been playing this game since I was about 12 or 13. Although I never quite figured out the dizzy patterns for EVERYONE, I figured it out for most. And with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 characters, my fights never pass 1 minute or less. I can remember feeling worn out as shit when I first got to Rick and Nick 😂 learning everyone's patterns and everything felt overwhelming. And now I gotta fight these two guys who can mop me with 1 or 2 hits. The truth is that I have been playing this so long and well that I honestly can't even recall the process of learning Rick and Nick. I know I did it because I can breeze through them today. But every couple of years I pick it up and it's like riding a bike. A few years ago, I had this corporate job where I managed a huge training room with one of those huge projectors that you can press a button and it unrolls itself for training classes. I used it for a Christmas party one day. One of the kids had one of those little SNES emulators and hooked it up to the projector and there was a mix bag of employees around my age but mostly a lot younger like in their mid to early 20s. They were fascinated because most of the games were things they never see. Sure, they cracked jokes at the technology of the time, but it was respectful and loving- like when you crack on your parents old pictures haha. I mean, these kids are used to the graphics of TODAY and PS4 and 5 and Xboxes. But to see them genuinely appreciate what was from MY young era made me so proud and happy. I wanted to show them everything about that era, but instead I just let them enjoy it and find things out for themselves. And it was enjoyable for me to watch them care about something that was one of the places of my childhood where I found escape. Those guys meant a lot to me and been working hard so I let them kinda chill and play for a while. I am a well respected man in that group of young folks. Some of them call me "Uncle". But deep down, I know that they view me as an old out of shape fuddy duddy. I'm not a dummy. I know. But at least they have the respect to not razz me about it. They razz me, but in respectful ways, like when you have that teacher in school that you roast back and forth with. because to be honest, deep down I AM self conscious that I am getting older. I am almost in my 40s and I can't go out to the gym and clubbing with them and pick up women like they do and stuff like that. But I do enjoy their company and they are respectful to me. So I wanted to show them that I ONCE had it 😂😂 I asked the much younger guy if I "could try the boxing game" and he laughed and hopped right to it and set it up for me. The guys got excited and started jokingly egging me on and cheering me on thinking that I was just going to kinda stumble my way through "learning how to play". What happened next was that they went from jokingly/ironically cheering to LEGIT cheering 😂😂. It wasn't necessarily the game, but just the proficiency with which I play. When I crumbled Gabby Jay, the guys started looking at each other and laughing and kinda getting the hint that I was pool sharking them lmao. But they genuinely were amazed because THIS is new to THEM while it's old to me. Like the games of today, whenever I can afford the time to play are new to me and old to them. I can't compete with these guys. But they were interested from start to finish (it wasn't THAT long- like I said, I wipe most of them out in 30-40 seconds). They saw me administer one of the greatest series of asswhoopings ever witnessed in these United States of America. After I beat it, you know Punch Out has the time trial mode. So they took turns trying to beat Rick and Nick and it was ugly haha! My boys! Anyhow, that's probably as close in my adult life I'll ever get to feeling like I was great at something. I was cool again, albeit for just a few minutes. But that was a fun day 😄
or this was before the nes and glass was pretty good, then a split of sorts happened and when they rejoined for the nes title, the records got wiped. glass won against nick post-split, nick retired, and glass kept fighting, now past his prime
I like to pretend that the bruiser brothers are the sons of Mr. Dream (unknown origin+age, like he was). I also like Nick's presentation; only certain hits really seem to punish him. The rest he can take and just keep glaring at you; enough to make you think "am I actually hurting this guy? At all?"
surprisingly, nick was easier than rick. I guess the reason was rick goes for more defense strats while nick goes for more offense strats which make him singificantly weaker than rick in defense
That makes sense, as Rick is implied to be stronger than Nick, and only lost to his older twin brother, because he held back, as he says in his first match quote. This could be true, as Rick cannot be KOed, unlike Nick.
Rick takes a kneel in his dizzy animation, which counts as being knocked down, even though he isn't. That is considered an infraction. Elbow bashes aren't allowed. Infraction 2. Their elbow bashes are a jumping attack. Another infraction. Rick wears earrings, which is illegal due to a possiblity of the earring causing an infection. I can't find anymore infractions.
Nick uses a haymaker punch, that while isn't illegal at all if it's done at short distance from floor, he actually goes from the ropes to you, and you can see him diving through the ring to reach you. Also, Nick rapid punches should be also banned.
Oof, too many fighters cheat. Lets not forget the masked guy spits at you. As well as old man using his staff (aka, a WEAPON) in the ring. And I suppose that one boxer with a ability to do illusion dance to create afterimages is considered cheating. Idk how they got away with it.
Nick isn't as good as Rick, you know why? Nick has a huge ego, and thats his biggest weakness, with all the eyes on him, it's got to be challenging. And Rick played it safe by being in second place.
Yep rick felt more random to his punches and I can’t even land a hit without countering him while nick is just all about alternating punches so yeah rick is definitely right he is the best
