    As a viola player, I should say that the sound is so explicitly recognizable and sweet. The sound of the viola is so versatile as it travels from the low notes to the mid-range and the higher ones in such a subtle way.
    One more piece to my studies and appreciation!

    As I get older, I have learned to appreciate the string quartets more. Maybe it's the less is more thing, but I think it is the beauty of hearing the amalgamation of four instruments creating such beauty as so magnificently played here.

    That quartet comes under the heading 'Cruelty to violists', though perhaps not as severe as Smetana. Very enjoyable lively performance devoid of excess sentimentality. These are always very nicely recorded.
