- In this video, I will show you how I rebuild the Dewalt 20V battery. I put new cells on it and I use a Portable Spot Welder to install the 18650 cells.

I laughed out loud when I saw the dremel tool come into frame. Nice work.
Great video love the voice over lol.
nice video! straight to the point, no BS!! keep up the good work
It is easier to just use flat top 18650 cells.
I'm going to rebuild a couple Dewalt 20v packs. I'd get some good cells though. The cells that came out of that Dewalt pack were good Samsung 22a discharge rated 2000mah 18650 cells. I've got some Molicel P28A 18650 2800mAh 35A 18650 cells to try out. These cells are great in my long range drone.
It was great without sound or mindless music
The button top is some kind of protection for applications where there is no BMS but I guess it's harmless to use it with one.
I used a 4ah DeWalt battery in my new blower. It ran down in 10 minutes (normal) but will not recharge. The charge light is solid red, indicating a full charge. I’m guessing that at least one 18650 died. How do you determine which one is dead if none have a charge?
Nice welder tool
It looks like you punctured the metal that keeps the electrolytes or lithium. Did you smell a sweet smell? If so are the batteries broken at that point? I have had the metal on the flat negative almost always have a pin size puncture and release a sweet smell. I find it easier to just leave the nickel tabs cut short on that side and not rip them off. What are your thoughts?
So you use different batteries on 5 Amp batterie
Did you diagnose that you need to change all of the batteries? Maybe only a couple needed changing. I’ve got an 8ah battery I’m going to have to do this to, I’d rather keep as many original batteries as possible but I also have to find the couple cells that are bad.
I knew there were 18650’s in them, they seem to power everything! I heard Teslas run off them as well!
Why is there no circuit board. Do I need one of I replace with newer cells
Hello Dusty can you tell me what spot welder you used it seems to be a nice small one that works pretty well.
They make flat head batteries, those would work also available at 18650.
Samsung 35e 18650s would probably work
What dewalt should offer is a battery pack renewal service where they test a battery remove old cells replace with brand new ones retest to ensure it’s fully safe usable charges discharges at safe rates etc job done
They make too much money from people buying replacement batteries at full cost! Planned obsolescence is real and everywhere.
Great run thru but try not to use trash cells to replace them, that's a poor quality cell. To anybody seeing this try Samsung 30Q 18650 at 15A continious discharge at 3000mah or better yet just buy the exact same batteries it was made with and you will get the exact same glorious battery back.
18650s don't go to 6800mah tthat's just pure lies.
Well... They can... Once. If your BMS fails to protect the battery from undervolting, the prior charge overvolted the battery w/o causing immediate failure, AND it is a slow discharge.
Agree, 18650 cannot be with such capacity in Li-Ion. Max is ~3500mAh. Greater is just a lie...
Sorry Man ... the video is great but at least play some free YT music in the background. Watching this gives me the creeps. LOL.
Is this one of those ASMR videos? Or is it an efing tool video? God I hate when content creators do this. Slow, sliding hand movements, emphasis on certain sounds. This is irritating
I prefer this. So many videos have lots of unnecessary talking. And it's usually of things that I already know. Almost everything that I look up, I'm getting 95% of stuff that I already know, while waiting to get that 5% of something that I don't know.
Most internet videos have fast hand movements where you can't see what the subject matter is, can't make out numbers, etc. I find them irritating. For demonstration purposes, it's better to show things being done slow, and up close.
Even in person, when someone shows me what to do, they're usually working full speed. If you're demonstrating something, I don't need them to move full speed to show me how fast it can be done. I need them to move slow enough so that I can see what is being done. Speed comes with time.
This video shows what needs to be done, without an annoying person blabbing the entire time.
Yeah, this video was quite educational, but sound, or lack of annoyed the hell out of me. I almost quit watching it.
Not everyone speaks English. You can turn down your volume instead of having nitpicking expectations.
The educational content was the point and it showed me what I wanted to know.
🤷♀️
@@desireeespinosa3954 It’s not nit picky, the sound was done on purpose to accentuate the noise of sliding a battery across a table etc. believe me, not everyone is some type of asmr freak that masturbates to focused sounds of things shuffling around.
