I have found a source in the USA thar provides the thermistor that they use. Milwaukee uses a 6.8K, Dewalt, Snap On takes 10K. I got 10 each for approximately $3.50.

Good fix, didn't know about this one. Another common error for these batteries is the charger will no longer recognize them once any of the cells gets below 3V. A lot of times you can take them a part and charge up whatever cells are low (or replace them if they went bad) and then your charger will work on them again.
The only REAL battery fix video out here! Thank you for sharing this info to fix my $75 battery for essentially free!

This was great information. I had two 5ah batteries overheat last weekend doing the same kind of longitudinal cut on a 2x4. Both batteries had quit and would not reset or charge. Cracking the case revealed the solder had indeed melted away to the negative terminal. I laid in a new bead of solder in the gap between the contacts to recreate the fuse-able link, popped them onto the charger and both were able to take a charge again immediately. That was a relief. Thank you for the tip.
By the way, I drilled out the pins in the screw heads to get them out with the small Torx driver, then cut slots into the screw heads with a Dremmel tool to not have to deal with the "lawyer screws" ever again, and can now just use a standard screwdriver to remove/install them.

If you get batteries that get too low to charge, no short, what you can do is buy an ac to dc variable voltage controller. The metal box kind with a dial control, digital readout in tenths of a volt, and a cooling fan. I like the 0-48 volt/480watt capable version, it is very useful for so many things including renewing batteries
I just hit them with my NiMh battery pack. I have 10x2 charged as 12 volt, then series as 20 of the 1.2 volt 2300mah for 24 volts DC, and they wake up nice.
I have killed at least 4 Dewalt batteries like that with the same circular saw .
it's a battery killer. it draws too much power for the batteries that come with it.

After you repair, find a simple charger to reanimate them if they do not respond. A per battery 3.7 volt charger, using some wire, then held for 30 seconds on each one independently will do it.
Good video helped a lot ran into that same issue got like six of those batteries including the red and black one really good battery last longer than my DeWalt keep up the hard work
Good fix you just saved me two 5 amp battery’s
Two batteries I found roadside. Bosch And Makita. Took home , no charge. Opened them up, each cell had power, One had a broken wire probably from being dropped, the other some rust on end of batteries down one side. Joined wire on first, a bit of a soft wire brush scrub on the other and in an hour had two working batteries. A simple fix saved me a few $. A lot of people would just bin them once they play up

I have the same bit set and 1 bad Dewalt Battery. I got mine replaced for free and will try to get the bad one fixed. BTW I have 6 Dewalt 20v 5AH batteries but my best batteries so far are 6AH clones, I run 4 in the big Dewalt Charger/ Inverter rig.

On that model charger Hot/Cold (thermal) Delay is indicated by a solid light on the right with a flashing light on the left, so that’s not a thermal delay (no right light). I have a DCB210 that no longer seems to have a connection with an open connection between TH (thermostor) and B+ so it genuinely triggers the thermal delay. It should measure ~10KΩ at room temperature.

super helpful video. I sorted a 6AH Dewalt clone battery that was stuck on overheat mode. In my case, however, it was still showing 2 bars of battery, but refused to fire any drill or charge.
It wasn't a large break at the ground terminal like you had, rather a small little thermistor right off the circuit board. Quick dab of solder, and she's going again.

If you ever need to replace the thermsistor I found a source. Almost all tools use either a 6.8K or a 10K thermsistor.

John, What are the color of the balance wires on a DeWalt battery. What I have seen, online is all over the place. I have been using yellow, white, green, blue (+ to - sides in sequence). What is correct? I am building some 2p, 2S DeWalt packs.
Now I know why I'm so careful to not overheat batteries. My ryobi cordless miter saw and the 7and 1/4inch circular saw quit on me. Is there a way to fix them? Seems like a switch type issue
They have a fusible link near the motor or in the trigger assembly if it's 120 volt saw

Them cordless saws still ain’t got enough umph I use corded Cordless drill are good but not much else
You got to give the latest models a chance, my DeWalt cuts as good as my corded Rigid but just under as good as my corded Porter Cable.
That is ridiculous.. the flexvolt saws cut better than the corded stuff without the hassle of a cord. No reason to live in the 90s

Hello everyone, I have a 2 AH battery that dead on me. Tried to jump it and managed to connect it the wrong way. Now it's over heating. Maybe im just too dumb to understand, on how to fix it. Help?

What if the bank voltage reads around 14v
Then if it's supposed to be higher such as 18 or 20v then you have a few shorted cells. Worth opening and viewing anyhow.
@@JOHNDANIEL1 yes it’s a 20v dewalt battery. I bought a used dewalt sawzall and put my battery in. Pulled the trigger and released and it didn’t quite stop. Could the switch be bad and overheating the battery because the battery became very hot. That’s when the No charge happened. I looked inside the battery and those soldered wires were still good.
Brushes or pwm speed control on saw is bad. Put battery in refrigerator for few hours, then return it to room temperature for about 3 or 4 hours and then put it on your charger and see if it responds.
You need to check all 10 cells. It can be just 1 or 2 cells....

If you're goal is to teach people to help them then you r not using common sense because you jump from one thing to another and you also will not make money doing videos like this!! My advice Slow down and I know you know what you are doing so do a video that people can learn from and guess what then they come watch another one and then tell a friend and then you get subscribers and views and likes instead of me being pissed off because I have a similar problem but I can't understand what you're doing!
