Ok guys, I’ve had this with TWO batteries. I put them in the charger, the big light stays on and the small light stays on indicating a problem with the batteries. I ordered TWO brand new batteries, plug them in and what? The exact same lights came on. So I had 4 batteries that wouldn’t charge. I ordered a new charger and what? The new batteries charged well AND the old batteries charged within 20 mins. So now I had 4 fully working batteries. The problem here was the charger not the batteries and it was giving off misleading lights

Question; what’s that air sound ? What does it do and why?

This is a bad idea. If the cell has an internal short you need to keep this safety feature of the cell intact to keep your home or shop from burning down. Dont do this...

Finally fixed this battery that i had only used 1 time. had to repeat the process 2 times but it works again. That battery has sat for 2 years waiting for it to miraculously fix itself and finally the answer. Thank you so much

Tried it , doesn't work.

This video saved the day for me. After buying a new charger thinking it was dead and after trying two batteries and no lights on the charger and trying the jump start method to no avail, it didn't fix the issue. I was about to toss my batteries (2) and ran across this solution. At first I thought this may have been one of those BS videos, until I read the positive comments and decided to try it. Worked like a champ and took me about 10 mins to revive 2 batteries that would have been tossed. The air escaping did make me jump and I did see it on the video, but wasn't expecting it by the time I got to the second battery. It was a pretty good amount that came out to my surprise. Anyway, thanks a lot for this video. I'm a weekend deWalt user so this was an easy fix and saved me some good money on otherwise fairly new batteries. ✌

That's what I'm planning. But it's taking forever to get the parts and equipment. I like battery operated tools but manufacturing has dropped the ball wrt their batteries.

there is a difference between a battery that holds a charge and one that is "revived" but dies after 5 mins of use.

It works I got 2 of 2 working again.They had sat without charging for 9 yrs.The life giving battery needs to have some charge in it,to “reset “ the “dead” one. I haven’t tried but I think a 12 volt car battery could be substituted for a support battery.

I tried doing this and mine didn’t let out any air but I had first attempted to jump it and had heard weird noises coming from inside the battery. Mine still won’t charge.

It works! Just tried it on a 20 Volt Max battery I leave on my weed-eater year round…. even through Canadian winters. It wasn’t taking a charge but after this procedure it works like normal. I used the first method and it worked.

Thank You!. Mine was a bigger double battery found the 8 sides with holes pressed down on them like you show one gave me the little swoosh of air. Battery works again! Nice post thanks again!

When this works, for those who’ve done it…does it bring battery back to nearly full life or is it only taking a small amount of charge and much shorter battery usage time? Just trying to way the risk reward of this one. The jumper trick looked like it allowed mine to charge, but then only charged for 2 minutes then showed full charge. Then less than a minute of running a weed eater…hopeful for a fix but also somewhat expecting this to be clickbait

I tried this on 3 different dead batteries, did not work on any of them Used different gauge wires, etc….nothing

Definitely a counterfeit battery. No control circuitry & not Samsung cells.
