My brother I cannot thank you enough my tools put my food on the table when I lost my use of two of my charge packs I was unhappy thinking I got to go drop another 150 dollars to get them but after I stumbled on you're video and did this for myself it saved me a fortune and made my day God bless you for sharing this video man stay blessed
Dude, I have to say thanks because while the issue wasn’t caused by the gassing, it was caused by a burnt safety fuse on my three amp hour battery. I was able to solder a small piece of 18 gauge wire where the fuse was and now it worked perfectly. It’s actually fully charged.😊
Ok, SIR!! Thank you!!! I’ve seen a lot of videos on getting these things to work. None, and I mean none, have worked. Until now. Wow!! Thanks! Loved this. I’ll just say for those still watching this, if you have a bigger ah battery, just remember to do the 2nd deck!!!
I tried for several days to fix the battery, watched all the videos on RUclips, read all the books, nothing helped. You are just a genius, now I am your Subscriber and your fan, be healthy, take care of yourself
I literally cannot believe that this resurrected my battery. I was having my doubts as I didn't hear any air release from any of the batteries, but sure enough, it showed life on the battery indicator and is now taking a charge again. I never knew the CID was a thing, thanks for sharing.
This worked on my dead 5ah battery. The charger would indicate a solid red light as if the battery was fully charged, when it was completely dead. Tried jump starting with no success. This trick brought it back to life. Thank you!!!
Used this trick and it worked great! I had a brand new battery that showed it had voltage, but wouldn’t charge. I did what you said to do and it took a full charge. Thanks for the tip!!!
Finally fixed this battery that i had only used 1 time. had to repeat the process 2 times but it works again. That battery has sat for 2 years waiting for it to miraculously fix itself and finally the answer. Thank you so much
This video saved the day for me. After buying a new charger thinking it was dead and after trying two batteries and no lights on the charger and trying the jump start method to no avail, it didn't fix the issue. I was about to toss my batteries (2) and ran across this solution. At first I thought this may have been one of those BS videos, until I read the positive comments and decided to try it. Worked like a champ and took me about 10 mins to revive 2 batteries that would have been tossed. The air escaping did make me jump and I did see it on the video, but wasn't expecting it by the time I got to the second battery. It was a pretty good amount that came out to my surprise. Anyway, thanks a lot for this video. I'm a weekend deWalt user so this was an easy fix and saved me some good money on otherwise fairly new batteries. ✌
Bravo! Craftsman v60 batteries have been discontinued, and I can't find one for sale at any price. Without this trick, I'd be taking a perfectly good lawn mower to the dump, and shopping for a new one. A comparable mower now is running over $600!
Fantastic! I didn't believe it until I tried it! Makes perfect sense though. All batteries need to vent. Now my four dead batteries are good as new!!! 👍🏼
Did this, first battery leaked. Luckily I was prepared and expected for the worse - had gloves on and did it over the sink with the exhaust on to mitigate the fumes. I guess i must've punctured it in the process. Had a second battery that also had issues. I was more careful and diligent second time around. It worked (no air release). Just had to do trial and error with the charger to see if it did the trick. Working great though. I'll probably just remove the battery that is leaking from the first one and reolace it. Should be good as new though. Thank-you for sharing!
11-12-24 Out of curiosity I tried this hack and I am writing this review with the pack charging 👍👍 It was to be scraped and I had nothing to lose but 5 minutes. it worked holy SHIT IT WORKED NOW TO SEE IF IT CHARGES ALL THE WAY AFTER BEING DEAD FOR SO LONG? This is incredible that it worked , Again thank you for the video.
This is amazing, thank you! I tried the jumper trick a few times and it never took, figured my 2014 battery was dead and time to get a new one. Did this trick, then did the jumper trick again and now it's on the charger and seems to be working fine again.
I followed your directions and just now placed the pack on the charger. The pack is now taking a charge. 😁 It was showing less than 10 volts on a 20-volt pack. Thank you.
Just Amazing! 🎉 I had what I thought were 4 non-chargeable, defective, dead, 20V batteries. I tried some other fixes/hacks posted by other RUclipsrs . . .. all failed! This video when I first watched it . . . scared me a little in that I didn't want to get shocked or worse blow something up including myself!!! I took apart the first battery pack and took a small screwdriver and pressed on each positive top cap . . . 2 of the batteries released cell pressure! I thought . .. What? 😲 I screwed the case back together and pressed the led indicator button and all three green % charge bars lit up! This battery was not dead! It was fully charged! Same with the other 3 battery packs! It made me think that maybe one of my chargers is overcharging? Just to be safe . . . I bought a new Dewalt DCB1104: 4 amp, 2 stage charger! All Thanks to the "Dusty Workshop". 👍
It works! Just tried it on a 20 Volt Max battery I leave on my weed-eater year round…. even through Canadian winters. It wasn’t taking a charge but after this procedure it works like normal. I used the first method and it worked.
Thank You!. Mine was a bigger double battery found the 8 sides with holes pressed down on them like you show one gave me the little swoosh of air. Battery works again! Nice post thanks again!
Thanks dude! Worked perfectly! Tried the jumper trick with no success then came across your video and released the gasses out of a couple of the batteries and charged it, and it worked! amazing never heard of this trick before and not sure how it works but it did!
It works I got 2 of 2 working again. They had sat without charging for 9 yrs.The life giving battery needs to have some charge in it,to “reset “ the “dead” one. I haven’t tried but I think a 12 volt car battery could be substituted for a support battery.
I just followed this process, and was able to find the battery that had the CID activated, I manually reset it and heard the hissing sound. However during charging, I noticed the battery was having a burnt smell. Upon further research on the internet, it is not recommended to manually reset the CID. It is best to replace that cell of the battery pack.
It worked like you said. I had to use a jeweler type screw driver to get it release the air. Charging light came on after 8 puffs of air out of 10. On the charger now with the red light flashing. Thanks. Here's hoping.
I use a little nylon tool meant for mobile phone screens. Managed to chew 2 using a little flat head but haven't had issue since using this. PPE is a must tho. If you're in a spot you can't afford to lose a battery (no judgement, I am too), your sure as fuck not in a position you can lose your ability to earn. Keep safe, go gentle, measure and test once more than you need and treat with suspicion on 1st charge. When lithium goes tits up, it goes hard.
Dude that is awesome ive never seen anyone actually make sense out of these kinds of videos.. almost all other videos on youtube are lies and they dont really work but this video is legit and got 3 of my batterys up and running again..im so glad that i didnt toss them in the garbage because this video was fantastic and now this is something i can always do if i ever have a battery that messes up in the future.. thank you so much for this video you are awesome 👍
Id be curious to see what a voltage meter on that was. Ive gotten the charger to accept the battery and charge it to what the charger indicates as a full charge and the pack still only has 10.25 volts. I'll have to give this a shot though. Thanks for sharing

To all of you who keep saying "Thank you, You saved me alot of Money" Why don't you think of rewarding this Genius who has help you out with a little bit of Money, I hope I am making sense?
I just use a google translator for this🙂
Will this be safe for us when used and recharged repeatedly over time.. because this action may cause the safety valve to fail, leading to an explosion.. I hope for a response from a specialist regarding this matter. Thank you.😮
You know it’s a simple fix. All you need is a 9 V battery positive positive positive negative to negative wait eight seconds out loud and boom. There’s your battery working on the charger again old trick in the book or is it just common sense either way thank you brother.
The problem is once a battery gets this bad its on life support. You HAVE to open them up and measure the cell voltages. Constistently low but above 2V still is recoverable, one bad cell and you can throw the battery out. One reason why all my tools are 18V Makita is that they use a fairly simple BMS in the batteries and their batterys are comparatively cheap here a 4Ah pack is like 55€ while Bosch is almost 100€. Also from what I know Makita does not use cells with internal protection but im not sure. The higher voltage batteries like 40V 50V 60V are unrecoverable because they have a sophisticated BMS with memory in it because those batteries are more dangerous since more cells more voltage etc much more potential for a battery fire. So they will essentially disable and lock out the battery when anything is out of the ordinary.
Thanx for info, ,was wondering how many got the battery going on the jump start , or how many got it to go after pulling it a part, i have some that won't go on jump start, so thanx to you Sir ill pull them a part
How to preserve a 18650 for a long time without using it? It`s enough to charge it once every 6 months, and store it in dry and room temperature? Thank you !!

Plus you saved your battery packs from going into the landfill.
I gotta admit, I thought you were yanking our chains but, out of pure desperation I tried it and it actually worked! Awesome dude! Thx!

Like this guy. No talking. Straight to the point😆😆
Like those ASMR videos
Perfect result. 4 seconds to revive my very expensive Ingersoll Lithium 20v battery. Thanks!!!
This worked on my dead 5ah battery. The charger would indicate a solid red light as if the battery was fully charged, when it was completely dead. Tried jump starting with no success. This trick brought it back to life. Thank you!!!
Trying both of mine tomorrow
I have to share this video to all my dewalt user friend. I just revived 3 battery. Thanks a lot
Respect!
Used this trick and it worked great! I had a brand new battery that showed it had voltage, but wouldn’t charge. I did what you said to do and it took a full charge. Thanks for the tip!!!
Legend! You will gp down in history as the saviour of all power tools

Did it let out air biscuits?

I just fix one of my battery thanks to you, It’s Amazing how something so simply can fix the battery

Thanks fixed a couple of them already due to this amazing video. I appreciate it !!!
Hi Dusty! TomBoy here 🙋🏻♀️ Super appreciate this video, it worked on my dead XR 5 AH DeWalt battery!!!
2.11 for S2 T10 saved me at least 90.00 for a new battery! Thank you and DeWalt must not like you for showing us how to do this!
I ordered the security torx. Can't wait. Glad I kept that dead battery in hopes of fixing it.
I followed your directions and just now placed the pack on the charger. The pack is now taking a charge. 😁 It was showing less than 10 volts on a 20-volt pack. Thank you.

Worked for me the first time. I truly appreciate your video! Thank you, sir!
Quick update just got done doing this fix for 2 of my batteries after trying everything else. It worked like a charm. Thank you very much 🙏💯..
Thank you for this information. I just revived 2, 5 amp 20 volt dewalt batteries. Saved me some serious cash. Thanks again.
Thank You!. Mine was a bigger double battery found the 8 sides with holes pressed down on them like you show one gave me the little swoosh of air. Battery works again! Nice post thanks again!
非常感謝作者!!這支影片讓我 復活了一顆很棒的電池!! 真誠的謝謝你!!👍
Thanks dude! Worked perfectly! Tried the jumper trick with no success then came across your video and released the gasses out of a couple of the batteries and charged it, and it worked! amazing never heard of this trick before and not sure how it works but it did!
saved my "life" no new battery.Thank you so much
Can't believe this actually worked hell yeah thank you man and damn good video no talking just straight to the point
I left my batteries connected to each other for about 10 minutes. Popped the dead one in the charger and it worked.
Looks great, can't wait to try on my two 'dead' DCB200's
Saved me the price of a new battery thanks for this
It works I got 2 of 2 working again. They had sat without charging for 9 yrs.The life giving battery needs to have some charge in it,to “reset “ the “dead” one.
I haven’t tried but I think a 12 volt car battery could be substituted for a support battery.
Man this really works had 3 batteries sitting for months ran to the garage and did one just to see. Well let's just say all 3 are good now.
It works. In my case for 18V batteries just a couple of seconds was enough. Used power old cable from 110v desk lamp, no issues.
I just followed this process, and was able to find the battery that had the CID activated, I manually reset it and heard the hissing sound. However during charging, I noticed the battery was having a burnt smell. Upon further research on the internet, it is not recommended to manually reset the CID. Thanks for the info about the fuse reset, I learn something new today 8-)
Tryed the first step and it worked ,,,, thanks alot.
Defenetly going to try this next i already did the jump start and nothing i will get back to you soon thanks.
Thank You.... Had two dead DeWalt batteries. Popping the CID brought both of them back to life.
No blah blah. but this guy is a great teacher.!
It worked like you said. I had to use a jeweler type screw driver to get it release the air. Charging light came on after 8 puffs of air out of 10. On the charger now with the red light flashing.
Thanks. Here's hoping.
thank you so much for saving my battery.👍
Very good video! No telling how many people just think the battery is dead and get rid of it.
Good info!! I take it that if the CID opens, you would see zero volts across the cell? And maybe some small voltage after successful reset? Thanks!
Thanks!

Absolutely brilliant, thanks. I do not need it now but the info regarding the barreries am stored. Ta

This trick works very well.
Thank you very much 👍👍👍
It worked great, crazy when the air comes out. Thanks, it's crazy what they charge for a dewalt battery.
Акамулятор запрацював,як новий.Супер!
Nice video. Saved my battery when the jump was not working.
You are the man!! Is amazing this fix, 10/10 congratulations
Mann, u helped me to save about 1000 reais (about 150 - 200 dolares). It worked!!!
Question; what’s that air sound ? What does it do and why?
Worked like a champ--thank you!
It worked!!‼️ Thnx for the upload 🍻
1:56 2:23 great. Thank you. It worked for me. connect it with the charged battery for 1 second only. ❤
This is awesome. Worked great, thanks.
Great video, I fixed my dewalt batery 20v, 4 amp, thank for your help,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just saved me $75. Excellent!

Thank you, it works with makita battery too
This worked, THANK YOU!!
Good video the Marcel Marceau act was a little annoying, but it eventually got its point across.
Excellent, Great presentation!
Thank you, I enjoyed this video
