Barthood is my favorite future episode, mostly because it’s the only one that treats Bart with some dignity. He’s not written to be some kind of failure or is overly pathetic. He’s a mild success, and seems happy. It’s nice to see something unique done with him, after other modern episodes that don’t handle him well. My only gripe is that scene where Lisa blows up at Bart, because we actually DO see moments where she (unintentionally) takes attention away from him throughout the years. It’s more nitpicky than anything, but I’m not a fan of that scene.
@@joelmole3157 Yeah, but every future between those episodes treated him like crap, so it's a nice change of pace. Plus, I like him being an artist over a supreme court justice. It make more sense, imo.
I'd argue that Lisa's wedding gave him due respect. Sure he was a construction worker but he was good at his job and happy while doing it and Barts slip-ups weren't detrimental to him, but just a quirk to his character.
Simpson Safari might be bad but the flower joke got me to laugh really hard. Marge: Oh no! It's eating us! Homer: Not a chance! Bart: Wow, dad, how did you do that? Homer: It's a flower...
I like how even in Holidays of Future Passed the writers make it a point that Lisa-Milhouse might not be endgame and Lisa-Nelson might have a chance. Even going so far as to imply that Zia is not even Milhouse's daughter.
I guess the reason brick like me was so good was it was done at the height of the popularity of the lego movie, they even reference that they took inspiration from it.
@@sophiebubbles07 the episode reuses old simpsons ideas (most notably the family being broke) and isn’t particularly funny. Burns also reuses a joke from an older season (which was funnier the first time) about there being a “new” Mexico. In addition, there’s a scene where homer dresses up as a panda and goes into the exhibit at the zoo. It’s heavily implied that he was... assaulted by the other panda. Very uncomfortable scene that’s not funny in the slightest.
@@paulamurphy3775 I think that cutaways actually can be funny, but only in the right context. Modern Family Guy has just been adding way to many when there should only be about 1-3 per episode. Cutaways should also help tie the story together when a character shares an experience, instead of just being a filler joke you see the Griffins watching on TV at the beginning of an episode.
Family Guy has a tendence of having jokes that drag on forever for some reason. For all its flaws the comedy in The Simpsons is more fast paced most of the time.
I might argue with you on 'The Greatest Story Ever D'ohd'. Yes, it's a rather silly way to learn about Jerusalem, but Homer's speech at the end about uniting the Abrahamic religions was a nice touch and comes from a good place.
I will say the scene when Bart tries to fight a girl who knows Krav Maga with Karate followed by the scene when he tried it with Lisa is so hilarious I'm so happy the scene is available on RUclips
The 60 Second Review for Clown In The Dumps was quite funny, a good change of pace from standard Top 5 list explaining and really well edited! It was a neat little segment and I honestly really enjoyed it. Just saying if you wanted some feedback.
Honestly, I didn't find the mask joke that stupid, it wasn't the best nor was it completely revolutionary but it still gave me a small chuckle, it's a fine joke, nothing more nothing less
Yea this video is completely pointless. Over analyzing episodes that span decades just to nitpick some mediocre jokes. How meaningless does your life have to be?
@@phantomstrider, I enjoy it too. The safari episode is basically probably the least offensive out of them, including (Ahem!) Bart Vs Australia and Blame it on Lisa, but others like The Regina Monologues are really respectful. And as for the Lego episode, I also really liked it! It had a unique plot that also switched between the Lego world and the real world, that it goes to show that the creators really cared about it. It gets a well done from me! 👍 I really enjoyed the video, because I never really watched The Simpsons regularly these days, but I do look back at them for a memory down trip lane, I mean a trip down Memory Lane, sorry for that. Recently I’ve been binge watching the Simpsons on Disney+ and I must admit for a show that has been running for so long it has been an Amazing experience. Sure it has bad episodes, but that’s to be expected from a show that’s lasted for so many years. However I hope that when the show does meet its end, it ends in a way that is fulfilling to fans that have stuck with it for so long.
I actually liked Sacha Baron Cohen's tour guide, it felt like they just let him riff and do what he wanted with it. I particularly like the gag of him always threatening to cross something major off the itinerary for a seemingly minor hold-up.
Yuuuuup. Two years isn't long enough for me to consider this a historical bad take. Unsubscribing it is. Gaga whose been an advocate for things like LGBT rights for decades while Musk is estranged from his own LGBT+ daughter.
I really liked Sex, Pies and Idiot Scrapes as far as new Simpsons gems. Homer and Flanders working together as a team had a kind of charm, lots of comedy, and the action and B-plot really kept the pace up throughout.
I guess I’m as will get my opinion out since I absolutely love the Simpsons. a little iffy on the modern episodes I mean they’re fine I don’t find them that bad I mean there are some good episodes but the writing quality is not great but at least it’s better than Family Guy
I guess I'm more forgiving than most. In my opinion season 1-26 is a masterpiece after that it is very hit and miss. One problem I have with the more recent ones is the constant imagination scenes. In older episodes they were every now and then now they are in every episode sometimes multiple times an episode. To me it feels like a lazy way to write cheap jokes. The Simpsons was intended to be somewhat realistic but they can do whatever gag they want if the characters imagine it.
i dont know why i remember this but the Simpsons Future episode couch gag was one of the first experiences of the simpsons i had back in 2015... i was mortified...

lisa goes gaga is beyond just being the worst simpsons episodes, imo it's one of the worst episodes of a cartoon ever made. I felt like visiting the dentist after watching that from clenching my teeth so hard.
@Kenny McCormick Yeah i get that, but the commercial thing doesn't work with Futurama because it's the same creator and Futurama had finished at this point. So it came across more sincere and that's why it worked better imo
The simpsons is nothing short of a masterful show, and it's great to see that even now, thirty three years after the simpsons originally premiered, there are still wonderful episodes with some people even thinking that the show has made a resurgence in recent years, and with episodes like barthood, paths of glory and Brick like me, i can only agree
I don't think there was a significant uptick in quality. The thing is, people are quite overdramatic with all of their stupid "The day the Simpsons died" nonsense. While sure, seasons 3-8 had the most consistently good episode, 9-18 still had quite a lot of strong ones and even after that (and they were REALLY running out of ideas at that point) there was still the occational highlight.
@@Alias_Anybody most people acknowledge that theres still plenty of great modern simpsons episodes but they're sadly few and far between. I could gather all the great to good episodes from season 21-32 and I probably would have 3 great seasons, maybe 4. I think the writing crew has talent, they just need a fire lit under their bums to get it going. Success breeds lethargy.
Best thing of "Eternal Moonshine of the Simpsons Mind" is that it's a mix between The Game and the movie that the title parodies, but with The Simpsons humour.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I think the idea of forcing apes to mine diamonds or Bart doing pregnancy vodoo are so insanely over the top that it kinda crosses the line twice and becomes really entertaining.
My 5 favorite modern Simpsons episodes (not included on this list) are The Debarted, Gone Maggie Gone, 24 minutes, The Book Job, and There Will Be Buds.
It's been years since I was a regular watcher of the Simpsons, but despite that I'm glad to hear that family is still giving good episodes after all this time 😊
Feel like Strong Arms of the Ma has to be at the very least a dishonourable mention, if not on the list. Marge assaulting Homer in the bedroom and the show playing it for a laugh is a depressing example of how our society treats sexual assault, especially concerning victims who are married. Otherwise, a nice list. I feel like there could have been more 2000's episodes on the list but I'm glad the great later episodes got spotlight too.
The things as great as Barthood it was kind of the last straw for Lisa and Homer’s characters. While neither Bart nor Lisa are wholly in the right, Bart is the only one shown to be in the wrong. The story is primarily from his point of view and all he sees is Lisa upstaging him at every turn, and she shows little to no remorse for that fact. They have a big fight at Milhouse's graduation party where she gives him a backhanded compliment, praising him for his artistic talent but saying "the thing all artists have in common is a miserable life, and if I'm responsible for that you're welcome!" The problem is that this is a regular occurrence not just in this episode but throughout the entire series Lisa is blatantly treated better then Bart Marge and Homer have even called her the good child and the one we like right in front of Bart on more then one occasion. Lisa was constantly showing him up throughout the episode for no reason, with some of them being on purpose. Another recurring plotline Bart succeeds at something, only for Lisa to grow jealous/resentful and the episode will end with Bart giving up what he loves to make her happy. Plus anytime Bart complains about how different their parants treat them Lisa’s response is the same as above get over it. So while Bart's terrible lot in life isn't her fault, Lisa still ruined chances for him, and was insensitive towards all his problems. He's right to blame her for some of his problems, and he is right to be angry because she's never made to see fault in her own behavior. To drive this home further, the final part of the episode shows that Bart was able to become a successful artist and bike shop owner, moving past his grudge against Lisa in order to succeed... Except he was able to succeed after he essentially cut her out of his life and avoided her. So he succeeded even with the grudge, and getting away from her not only helped him, but would later go on to help repair their relationship. Ending the episode by says Bart can’t be successful unless he completely shuts Lisa out of his life really undercuts its point. As for Homer yes for all the trouble Bart causes Homer still bluntly 'admits' that he doesn't want anything to do with Bart to a therapist, and can't say one nice thing to his son that isn't backhanded. Pitting your children against each other is one of the more subtle but particularly odious forms of bad parenting/child abuse yet there’s never any consequence for. Even you admitted you feel sorry for him. The Same with Holiday of Future Past the fact that Lisa is married to Milhouse shows her as self destructive and makes Bart's sacrifice in the previous episode completely pointless. it is also a thinly veiled attempt to absolve Homer and Marge of responsibility for their bad parenting
@@JerryBlueCast Lisa was absolutely dreadful in the episode and constantly being Jealous. Bart being a gamer was stupid and clearly a grasp at trends. Homer all the sudden becoming a super peaceful pacifist after that thing he did with the dust thing was stupid. The whole episode was boring, unfunny, tacky, and just trying to grasp at trends
I remember one of the better modern Simpsons episodes I've watched was the one where Bart is tired of how mundane his life has become, so he traps his family and everyone else on a dream cruise ship in order to have fun forever, only for it to turn into a nightmare. Not only were the jokes funny, but its message of "Stop thinking about fun, and have it" is not only deep but also very important for a lot of people.
@Kenny McCormick Apparently some people hate all and every modern travel episode (because the Simpsons are supposed to be too poor in their head canon) others seem to dislike the ending for being too unrealistic or something.
@Kenny McCormick You don't have to defend it, I do not agree with those people. Some just search for excuses to hate everything past S9 even if it doesn't make sense.
I thought Simpson Safari was overall OK, including the leader joke was definitely basic but decent. I liked the beginning of Co-Depedents' Day but yes then it turned so stunningly bad.

Simpson Safari might be bad but the flower joke got me to laugh really hard.
Marge: Oh no! It's eating us!
Homer: Not a chance!
Bart: Wow, dad, how did you do that?
Homer: It's a flower...
Simpsons Safari is literally one of like 3 good episodes in Season 12...
I like how even in Holidays of Future Passed the writers make it a point that Lisa-Milhouse might not be endgame and Lisa-Nelson might have a chance. Even going so far as to imply that Zia is not even Milhouse's daughter.
8:16 "then Homer decides he's the messiah because... he had a dream with veggi tales in it" I actually laughed
I guess the reason brick like me was so good was it was done at the height of the popularity of the lego movie, they even reference that they took inspiration from it.
I’m shocked “homer vs dignity” didn’t even get an honorable mention for the worst section
Same here. Mainly because of the infamous panda scene
Please explain
@@sophiebubbles07 the episode reuses old simpsons ideas (most notably the family being broke) and isn’t particularly funny. Burns also reuses a joke from an older season (which was funnier the first time) about there being a “new” Mexico.
In addition, there’s a scene where homer dresses up as a panda and goes into the exhibit at the zoo. It’s heavily implied that he was... assaulted by the other panda. Very uncomfortable scene that’s not funny in the slightest.
@@mjfromjersey
I don't think it's even remotely the worst episode.
Apart from Homer being raped by a panda I thought it was a great episode.
The best part about Holidays Future and Past is how 30 years later we still don't know what Maggie sounds like.
Never in my life have I been more disappointed than when I found out Sacha Baron Cohen voiced the annoying tourist guide
I have never seen the episode before but I could tell it was SBC just from the small voice clip
Hey, at least the warthog joke is better than some of the modern jokes from Family Guy, “cough” Dad Noises “cough.”
Yeah I agree
"cough" cutaway gags are not funny and are there just to fill time "cough"
@@paulamurphy3775 I think that cutaways actually can be funny, but only in the right context. Modern Family Guy has just been adding way to many when there should only be about 1-3 per episode. Cutaways should also help tie the story together when a character shares an experience, instead of just being a filler joke you see the Griffins watching on TV at the beginning of an episode.
@@loganhenry0 yeah some of them did make me laugh but i think 1-3 per episode would be perfect

Honestly, I didn't find the mask joke that stupid, it wasn't the best nor was it completely revolutionary but it still gave me a small chuckle, it's a fine joke, nothing more nothing less
I really liked the crazy twist in the end, it made me laugh and of course the last joke of the former African President!

About to post about it. One of my favorites from recent years. It's still a great though.
I had a feeling that "Lisa Goes Gaga" would be on here.

"Ape spray" and "mating gel"- Mental.
You know its a bad or good episode when its on a top 5 list when the show has over 690 episodes

Yuuuuup. Two years isn't long enough for me to consider this a historical bad take. Unsubscribing it is. Gaga whose been an advocate for things like LGBT rights for decades while Musk is estranged from his own LGBT+ daughter.
A terribly godawful take at that.
I really liked Sex, Pies and Idiot Scrapes as far as new Simpsons gems. Homer and Flanders working together as a team had a kind of charm, lots of comedy, and the action and B-plot really kept the pace up throughout.
I love Strider's passionate excitement when he talks about each episode. He has some great emotion and obviously cares a lot about animation.
I guess I’m as will get my opinion out since I absolutely love the Simpsons. a little iffy on the modern episodes I mean they’re fine I don’t find them that bad I mean there are some good episodes but the writing quality is not great but at least it’s better than Family Guy
Hey, at least Homer Simpson and Marge Simpson is a better couple than Peter and Lois Griffin.

Feel like Strong Arms of the Ma has to be at the very least a dishonourable mention, if not on the list. Marge assaulting Homer in the bedroom and the show playing it for a laugh is a depressing example of how our society treats sexual assault, especially concerning victims who are married.

21:55 "I'm certainly not bursting out my sides" I was
I feel like Barthood could have been a pretty good conclusion to the series.
Yeah. It's definitely one of the better episodes to come out of Modern Simpsons.
They have a big fight at Milhouse's graduation party where she gives him a backhanded compliment, praising him for his artistic talent but saying "the thing all artists have in common is a miserable life, and if I'm responsible for that you're welcome!"
The problem is that this is a regular occurrence not just in this episode but throughout the entire series Lisa is blatantly treated better then Bart Marge and Homer have even called her the good child and the one we like right in front of Bart on more then one occasion.
You should have put “E my Sports” on the list.
Yeah
