- That's right, I'm finally doing the Mega Man ZX video I promised. 200 or more years after Zero 4, the world has forgotten the heroes of yester year. Humans and reploids live in harmony with nothing coming between them... or at least that's what they think. Perhaps it's time to join the sometimes red sometimes blue bomber to see what exactly is going on in a new-heroic world.

Hey, I know I said in the endslate I was doing KH2 next, but I'm realizing switching topics back and forth just doesn't work for my hyperfixation ADHD brain. So I'm gonna do ZX Advent next time, then the casual ZX extras video, then the KH2 video. ZX Advent will probably within the next 2 weeks.
Fun easter egg that nobody ever points out: when you get a Lvl.4 victory against a pseudoroid, Prairie will get a stuffied animal of them in her room.
megaman zx is basically what happened if you combine megaman with Kamen rider (heisei era Kamen rider to be specific), and I love it
Ironically enough, Mega Man as a franchise was directly inspired by Kamen Rider iirc.

I'm pretty sure that all biometals actually do have the souls of the robots they once were, which confirms that zero is still technically alive
My head cannon is that vent and alie do exist in the same timeline but depending on who you choose the other character just doesn't become megaman.
There's a possibility that both had parents die in the same Maverick attack and both joined the guardians but only one becomes megaman.
We can see in that clip of alie and vent interacting but maybe this is all conjecture.
But since Advent shows both of them appeared in a flashback maybe it is canon both Vent and Aile became Megaman when ZX story first started

I love that you pointed out that Prarie IS Alouette. It always bugged me that we were suppose to just assume that when it was never even stated that she and Ciel were related in the main games (outside of the official soundtrack).
To boot, they made it even more confusing by unnecessarily naming her 'Prarie.'

As a newcomer, you can just take the info at face value
As a MMZ player, if you were paying attention, you catch on the hints and refferences without the need for the games to spoonfeed you or feel like nostalgia baiting
More likely it had to do with presentation to the audience. Seeing as the game was meant to kind of act as a new intro to the franchise for a younger generation of gamers, tacking on so much backstory that it's impossible to follow along without being privy to earlier games would have been a mistake. The subtler nods to the character connections allow for seasoned fans to see the bigger picture, but don't become unnecessary confusion for newcomers.
There's also the fact she needs to hide her identity because she's in an era where Reploids have lifespans and she's still immortal.

You forgot about Model OX. Also the fact that they're "humanoids", not " human."
‘Humanoid’ is actually a contraction of ‘Human’ and ‘Reploid’, two different ‘species’, for the lack of a better term, in the ZX Era whom have equal rights, with humans being given cybernetic body parts and reploids having enforced lifespans.
Whilst they are collectively known as humanoids, a group of only humans is still a group of humans , at least until a reploid joins the group.
Also, Model OX is considered by many to be either a non-canon easter egg or has been retconned out of existence.

I love how you described the story of ZX. Even though i already know about all the plot points and stuff, you made it interesting to listen too.
I can tell you’re invested in the story so have fun with Advent sir. It really does hit well on the story beats there.

The choice of the word "rebirth" is fitting, since the japanese version of the MEGA system (the ROCK system, of course) stands for "Rebirth Of Crystalized Knowledge SYSTEM"

The save assist was more for the Zero games. ZX has many areas of life collection. 22:20 no it's Devil Gundam from G Fighter.

ZX being the only series I'm a little versed in besides BN, I know you've omitted some content present in the game from the review. Is there any particular reason you didn't mention the MMZ refights near the end of the game, or Model OX?
I tried throwing mention of it at a few spots, but I'm really particular of video flow and it never quite worked. I in the end removed it from the script because how canonical it is is up for debate.
I also kinda wanna do a less serious video after ZX Advent looking at the extras of both games. Such as the 8-bit mini game in ZXA or the Tetris Attack. clone.

Hey dude, I think I should let you in on a little something. The Bio-Metals do in fact contain the DNA Souls/Cyber Elves of X, Zero and the other 4 Guardians from Neo Arcadia. This was pretty much confirmed in the original Japanese dialogue for Megaman ZX. Model X and Model Z contain the minds and memories of X and Zero and so on and so forth for the other 4 Bio-Metals as well.
You can tell that they are the same people because the Bio-Metals actually reference past events that took place in the Megaman Zero games and have Dialogue that is in line with the Reploid characters that they are representing.
Model H talks about how he and Models X and Z fought for the sake of humanity and the other biometals make similar remarks.
They have of of their memories of the past except for any memories or data of Ciel’s whereabouts or possible location. Most likely as a safety measure to ensure Ciel’s continued survival as Serpent had tried to kill her during the research both he and Ciel were doing on Model W.
Okay, so I've done a bunch of research on it now and have formed my own thoughts. There aren't quite enough proper nouns in English or Japanese to convince me of them being the originals and I've consumed too much clone related media to count Model H's remarks as definitive. However, it is a sound argument and I can see a ZX3 confirming either direction. I imagine the writer's point was to be vague about it, but I do like covering all my bases so I wrote a part about it into my ZX Advent script to address the topic.
Always feel free to correct me in my videos.
I do appreciate the effort on your end. Though I do think the confusion on this subject tends to stem from a line from the English version that says the bio-metals were constructed using the combat data from the heroes of the past.
However, another line of Dialogue originating from a personal log made by Ciel herself I believe, mentions that the Bio-Metals do in fact have the actual souls of the Reploids that they are intended to embody.
I won’t try convincing you but I will leave a side by side comparison of the English and Japanese dialogue which has been translated.
English Script
“I have constructed Model X and Model Z with the data I have obtained on ancient heroes."
"Biometal are fragments containing the consciousness of those legendary heroes."
Japanese Script (translated):
“I made Live Metals which contain the data of the heroes… Model X, Model Z and the others"
"These metals that lodge their souls and have a will of their own are the "Live Metals"
@@storm_shadow-2107 Yeah, I've seen that line specifically. "The data of the Heroes" is still just a little too vague for me. If it said something like "Cyber-elf" or "soul" I'd be a bit more convinced.
I actually like stories that are more interpretive though, so if anything you've shown me a bit more with how cool ZX's world building is. And after finishing ZXA I feel that even more.
The Japanese script most definitely references the souls of the people. The line goes as, “ These metals that lodge that lodge their souls and have wills of their own” in the original Japanese text.
Though if this still isn’t definitive enough I can certainly understand why. Many of the major lore aspects of the MMZ series can be lost in translation. You might not know this but Ciel was a genetically engineered person who was altered to have superior intellect and prowess that she displays. And X visited Fefnir and leviathan while they were unconscious and asked them to go help Harpuia, who was busy battling Weil’s forces at a different location while Zero was confronting Omega. And right before visiting Fefnir and Leviathan, X had an interesting conversation with Phantom in Cyberspace.
But you would never actually learn any of this from the actual games because this is information that is segregated to audio dramas.
Another interesting bit of information is related to Elpizo who was revealed to have a different name when he was still a Nep Arcadian citizen and knew about both the Dark Elf, the baby elves, and Omega before ever meeting the resistance.
Elpizo is revealed to have been apart of a Neo Arcadian task force and the 8 Gentle Judges who sentenced Weil to his eventual fate as an immortal monster, weren’t originally bad people but were corrupted by Weil when he returned to Neo Arcadia. As Weil tampered with the minds of the Judges and twisted them to do his bidding.
But this is never actually talked about in the games and is sadly stuck in Japanese only audio dramas. There are others tidbits too like how Prometheus and Pandora once tried to escape from their creator but were caught and permanently fused with Model W fragments (making them permanently transformed).
But I digress.
@@storm_shadow-2107 Okay, so I have actually listened to all of the Zero audio dramas. I think those are cool as shit and nearly required listening for people getting into Zero.
That Japanese line you mentioned puts me more of a 90/10 in favor of them being originals, but there's still a few things missing for me being 100% on it. I imagine those would've been answered though if ZX continued.
As I said, always feel free to correct me when I make mistakes. Do you know the specific scene or book that says that line so I can source it in the ZXA video?
ZX and ZX Advent were the second set of Megaman games I ever finished (after Zero) so they have a serious connection to me personally and I absolutely love these games. I love this retrospective giving me so many flashbacks.

I'm pretty sure Serpent 2nd is a Devil Gundam reference. It also makes Model ZX's Burning Gundam reference all the more obvious. Makoto Yabe is a huge gundam fan after all.
I think the game trailer was indicating that Vent and Aile are twins since they have similar traits and have the same back story of losing their mom in a Maverick Raid. Vent sees Giro as a mentor figure/older brother and Aile sees Giro as a love interest. And it also explains why when Vent and Aile Mega Merge, they both use Model X and since there’s only one Model X, it means Model X chose both as his Chosen Ones.

Fun fact: the megaman ZX advent manga has both protagonists (vent/aile, gray/ashe) coexist with one another. Gray and Ashe both inherit model A, Vent ZX, and Aile omega granted the manga probably isn’t canon but it is interesting
one thing about model Hx that helps make it more useful for combat is that if you alternate the attack buttons you get a 3 hit combo

I think X DiVE came west like a month after my video? I only played the first two or three areas anyway because of the botched NA release. I might give it another go if the Steam version comes west and doesn't have too big of issues. The writing was at least fun for what I played.

Any thoughts on covering Inti's spiritual succesor series Gunvolt? I recently got into it and it certainly looks and feels like an evolution on Zero and ZX's overall vibe in the same way Zero's series was an evolution on X's while being it's own distinct thing.
I actually really loved Gunvolt 1. I bought it release day on 3DS but I haven't tried the other games yet. I know they're on Switch now so I'll eventually give the series another look, but I won't promise a video in the nearest future.
Update: I ordered the Striker Pack on Amazon because I saw "1 copy left for $22" 🤣. Still no promises on when I'll look at it but it will happen at some point.

@@NovaZoneTV I actually started with the spin off "Luminous Avenger: iX" which stars a character named Copen who is playable in GV2 like the old X or Zero option in X5 forward. His playstyle is about dashing into enemies to engage the lock-on and using your air dash to bounce between enemies to avoid touching the ground as long as possible for massive score bonuses.
Copen feels like an evolution on Zero's and HX's speed and mobility but in a complete opposite manner than their melee focus. He also gets traditional MM boss weapons which really makes him feel like an Anti Megaman or something. Really neat idea and along with his design it could easily pass for a continuation of the Zero-ZX games at a glance.
I thought Igarashi and his team did a great job with Bloodstained but it really is Igavania's best rolled into one in all but name and setting. Gunvolt on the other hand really feels like something unique despite being so familiar and the only comparable spiritual succesor I can think of would be Bayonetta being very clearly DMC influenced while having distinct and deliberate differences in gameplay design.
Well no rush but I'm looking forward to hearing what you think with how Inti continued to evolve and innovate what they did with Z-ZX moving into a more fast paced, high skill oriented approach. Beating Gunvolt is pretty easy, but getting high scores is a whole different approach to the game and makes it a lot more challenging and satsifying with how the score system is designed.

A bit late as this is my first time watching your videos, but there actually *is* a gameplay difference between Vent and Aile. Vent takes less knockback and Aile can crawl faster. Yeah, that's it, but if we want to be technical it does mean that Aile is optimal for speedruns.

Unlocking Model X on a 3rd playthrough isn't that great for when you initially play, but when you revisit the game years later, it's a welcome addition. When combined with model O, it allows you to essentially have a standard Model X and Model Z in addition to the others.
Model X shreds through everything with it’s Double Charge shot its insane. Makes Hard Mode a tad bit easier to play.
I'm curious if you'll be doing MegaMan legends, some time down the line. It's a favorite of mine besides x. Though it's possible that you might just do battle network instead.

I actually haven't played much of Legends yet. Not that I disliked it, it's just that I keep seeming to restart it right before I get busy IRL. I wanna return to Mega Man some time next year, so maybe that'll be a fun thing for me.
@@NovaZoneTV that's understandable, some games catch our attention more than others. I ask because I'm curious what intersection you'd make with it's lore/world. I always find these details very interesting, especially if a theory is reaffirmed or a new one formed. And hearing about parts that may stick out to you.
But no rush, there's plenty of different games that also need a good looking at. Maybe it'll be something I haven't heard of or need to give a second chance.

the problem with J's review is that to him, zero 3 is perfect in EVERY WAY, so anything any other megaman does diferently is wrong and bad.
@@marcosdheleno J's Reviews is too nitpicky for my taste and he overexert himself playing all these Mega Man games which results in him review bombing games like ZX Advent. Then again his physical health isn't the best so that's par for the course lol

I'll admit, I talked out of my ass a bit on that one. I had only playing about 10 mins of them when I made that video. So now, having run PoR and DoS twice each, yeah, that's embarrassing.
BUT ALSO, yeah, the map is the only important part that theyd need to keep. Which is easy with this collections framework. Mods have removed every mandatory touch related thing. Konami can easily do that if they cared.

There was a third ZX game, but it got cancelled.
We would see the mega game’s are all anime have you seen the art dud, And story like classic Mega man and The X and Zero games have are told in anime to.
Like 80% of Japanese games have an anime art style. I meant that ZX and ZX:A follow more traditional anime/tokusatsu tropes than the Classic, X, and Zero entries.
I do wonder about what's the point of ZX recently, as the overarching arc of coexisting Reploids and humans as equals since MMX concluded in Zero 4. The theme of overcoming the destiny and only you can decide your own fate is a prevelant theme throughout ZX series, but I found that kind of theme to be overused, unrelatable and not thought-provoking, overall not a relevant follow-up to the theme of coexisting. About ZX canon, I find Aile to be the canon one due to most ZX side-materials like drama CD and crossovers choose her as the main representative of ZX game, and her story is more relevant to the theme of fate and foreshadowing ZX Advent.

I played both for the video. In comparrison to Zero that's what I thought, but I was basing it on what I felt rather than any math so I could've been mixing it up. Plus my run as Aile was longer since I did more sidequest/it was my first run in 5+ years.
