Yeah the old machines will knock you around some. Especially when you look at what you are setting on. 3/4 plywood or a 3/16 steel with wood frame tray with 3-4 inches of foam and a cover. No springs or air ride on them.

Holy smokes, the D6 makes pushing out stumps look easy. Honestly surprised how quickly it responds to what you do, like changing directions or turning. I expected there'd be at least some hesitation just because how old it is, but it's snappy. Can tell it's been nicely maintained.

Before you go to the expensive and time consuming trouble of replacing the seal, try something like AT 205 re-seal. It's a plastizer that rejuvenates old seals. I used it once on an old diesel with a rear main leak and it fixed it. People swear by it. Lucas, Bar's and other companies make similar products.

We used FLECO rakes on D6D, D8k, 977 and Euclid C6. Not sure if still in business today, but the FLECO's with the bolt on teeth with replaceable pin on tips held up the best. Many advantages to this system. Less dirt mixed in, you have better visibility looking thru the rake and don't have to back up so far. We would change out the dirt blade with push arms to a rake on another set of push arms. Excavators weren't available then so we used 977 to push the piles back together and help burn stumps. You will help yourself If you could find FLECO rakes in good shape with extra set of push arm for the D6D. Keep up the good work! Thanks

Hi Chris ... great video ... awesome machine from my era ..... almost looks like you have driven a D6 before 😀😀😀 ... have been trying to figure out how your using the tilt action .... would love an segment on that please 🙏.... great to see that your are a devotee of the old adage to never waste a dozer movement .... backblade all the time. 🙂🙂👍👍

Hi Julian Earl, Sounds like you might be from my era so I have a question, When you're backing up, do you float the blade or control it like Chris does?

Control it all the way! Float and quick drop should be outlawed!! 😀

Dude, that’s a beautiful cat you found yourself there. I was thinking the price point was kinda high, underneath that thing looks low hour. I would take that over a new one any day. I’m out that stage of my life with heavy equipment, but man l want that that thing.

Chris is just having fun here. He knows stumping would be way more efficient with the 220 then grade with the D6 after

  • @ajmiller7102

You need three hands. Looks like the stumps are no challenge for the dozer, but it does have a good operator which makes a lot of difference.

You get a workout operating that machine! You probably don’t need a heater as much as you are moving from control to control.
oh, I think you are missing something on the side panels… no stickers yet!

I remember someone saying that clearing with a dozer was not a good thing as it left too much dirt behind, so burning was a pain!

Hello Chris, It looks like you're having a lot of fun out in that stump field. At the 10 minute mark in todays video, I wondered what those black plastic bins were for and wondered if you would stop and move them. It doesn't look like you crushed it though, just pushed it a little. :)
