Love Agnes Obel...she literally calms every ounce of my soul.
Such a beautiful song. I love Agnes's work
Anne Müller is the cellist and Mika Posen is the violist (viola)
I've seen her live, and she's amazing. The coherence and emotional connection between her voice and the piano is just enchanting, and then I'm not even mentioning the wonderful addition of her talented fellow musicians. This was one of my, if not the best concert experience I ever had in my life. I was supposed to be going to a concert of hers in Brussels again, but it keeps getting postponed because of that little thing we've been living with for almost two years. I hope to hear and see her live again soon, possibly in June!
I would travel from Colombia to Barcelona and Valencia to see her, I hope this year I can see her, just like you, I've waited for 2 years...
I was lucky enough to see her in Boston a few years ago and it was mind blowing. I feel so lucky
I was lucky enough to see her in Seattle when she toured for Aventine. She played in a gorgeous church that is famous for its acoustics. The organizers were extremely strict about everyone having their phones either off completely or in airplane mode. High ceilings. Giant space. Silent crowd. It was one of the most spiritually and emotionally moving performances of my life.
Two words... MIND BLOWING💥🥰
Their harmony choices are so unique and really add a lot of their signature dimension to this track and all the others.
I "discovered" Agnes Obel while watching the Canadian series "Cardinal". The show's theme song is her "Familiar". From there, I began searching out her albums and the various remixes found on RUclips. I'm 72 years old and the Berlin studio version of "The Curse" brings tears to my eyes. Just the shear beauty of it...
Thank you for your review.
I also discovered her on Cardinal, but then I started hearing her everywhere. There is an extensive list of shows that she's contributed music to.
Thanks a lot for this reaction ! I like very much listening to Agnes Obel's work and art. And there's not so many people who presents her songs on line. Thanks !
Thank you for reacting. I love Agnes. Her songs tell the most enchanting stories
My favourite song at the moment, thanks Ken, I've requested this of you too.
I love strings, the cello & viola sound so good!
Cello: Anne Muller
& Viola: Mika Posen
I think Agnes is so humble when it comes to her own personal beauty.
She is touched by the Divine❤❤❤
IM FKN LOVE AGNES OBEEEEEL!!!!!
I saw them live in Prague in March 2020. It was the last concert I attended before covid hit us. It was simply a magical experience.
Chelsea Wolfe concert two days later was sadly cancelled....
Restorative soulfulness is a perfect description
Very subtle music, also her cd's are very well recorded
What a treat! I love this song, it always gives me the feeling of a dark cold, yet beautiful, forest by the sea.
Side note, isn't it a viola?
If you wanna keep it Nordic and melancolic you should do Susanne Sundfør and the song White Foxes.
I love that song!!! The way she sings the high notes
@@anascully6273 Gives me the goose bumps every time
Simply spellbinding!
finally! finally! thanks for following my reccomendation and your approach on my last name :D
and i don't have to get naked at least to get your attention, haha!
they are are treat live. whenever, whatever, it's brilliant! i can reccomend any live recording, especially the concert at philharmonie de paris, it's one of the best live performances i have ever witnessed.
they play precise like a swiss pocket watch, don't they?
cello: anne müller
viola: mika Posen
thanks for your professional input into this reaction and i really hope you discover more of her and the other artists mentioned, susanne sundfor and anna von hausswolff.
My suggestion for Anna Michaela Ebba Electra von Hausswolff is 'Funeral For My Future Children' recorded in New York City. She's from Göteborg, whereas Agnes Caroline Thaarup Obel is from København, so almost neighbours! 😀 R (Australia)
I absolutely love her music! She's a true master
god damn this is amazing! thanks for this!
Agnes is absolutely great. If you like to listen to her, check out Kari Bremnes, especially her older live videos (Album: norwegian mood). Greetings from Berlin, Germany.
Hi Ken I've seen you perform live in Kirkland lake Ontario a while back and just found your channel. Love the content and your music. Keep it up!
I live in the same city as her, but haven't seen her live yet. She is now in such a high demand worldwide. 😊
I love Agnes... I can't get any of my friends to listen to her, but in a way I feel special because I realize some people are just daft.
Love Agnes music. Amazing artist.
There all amazing. Her voice calms me in every way. Your amazing Agnes Obel
This was so lovely. Would love to see you react to Underground - Cody Fry's Symphony Sessions, he did an amazing job of orchestrating his own song. It gives me the chills every time i listen to it.
This song is magic, been a favourite for a long time
Regarding Agnes Obel's instruments i believe she's using a Celeste here or maybe a prepared piano. In any case, its probably not a normal piano from a 2016 Bandcamp article on her album Citizen of Glass: "The Berlin Musical Instrument Museum loaned Obel several old keyboard-based instruments, from the twinkly celesta to the harpsichord and the Trautonium, a synthesizer from the 1920s. “I needed something that would fit the theme of the album, something more percussive and maybe a little bit glass-like,” she says. “Sometimes, with the spinet, you have this sound-it’s pleasant, but it’s also slightly unpleasant. I was trying to combine all of these sounds together. I recorded prepared piano, and lutheal piano, and spinet, and celeste, and even organ, and then layered the tracks over one another so it would sound like one very strange instrument.”
She is one of the best artists i know. The above shows clearly that she is extremely creative and curious. But also technically very good. The songs are written very well, vocals and instruments blend perfectly.
Just amazing, absolutely breathtaking really
A bullseye review of this song, I'm connected to, and play along with on the piano.
With advice capable of reaching beyond the expected norm.
BTW, it’s pronounced A-Niece not Agnus. ✌️😁🎶
It is actually pronounced more like auness/aoness, here in Denmark, where she is from.
I love this woman.
Glad you found her and Ane Brun. Hope you stumble across Anna Ternheim soon for the Scandi trifector!
Enchanting ! Other works by her , The Riverside , Familiar , Fuel to Fire amazing as is the music of Lorena Mckennitt who traced her roots back to the Indo-Europeans with poetic lyrics and beautiful vocals. Takes one on a journey to ancient times of mysticism. Thanks
Just to let you know Agnes Obel is Danish (scandinavia)
Agnes Obel is amazing!!! :D
Try checking out Kalandra too, maybe the acoustic live of Across the Sea. I'm sure you'll love it! :)
Waiting. Just waiting. For you know what.
I’m in love
Her music is ahhhhh
Literally went through all your video, how do you not have a single queen reaction??? Maybe sth like Love of my life, but really, its a shame
I loved the album "Philharmonics" - very minimalistic and so different from what came out at that time (2010). If you want to listen to another great danish singer with a breathy but very dark tone try listening to Kwamie Liv. I was in awe the first time I heard her - and so surprised at her sound. She's a great interpreter too. Other nice danish artists who should have much more attention: Alexander Vargas, Mads Langer and Tina Dico/Dickow! :-)
Mika Posen is from Ottawa. Miss her playing with Agnes Obel, such unbelievably beautiful music
Please do ORION'S REIGN - Elder Blood!
O’briens reign nigga I’m a hood nigga
Regarding the "how to", she has a full effects board
A momentary peace in a world of chaos
I love your video reactions! Please @KenLavigne react to Poets of the fall💙 Temple of thought acoustic! Marko's voice is amazing, I'm sure you're going to like it! Greetings from Finland! 🇫🇮
I love your reaction videos! I learn so much about singing techniques! I’d love to know what you’d see in my covers video haha 😅 keep up the good work 😉

Sort of like a female Damien Rice mixed with a mellow Enya. Sort of Celtish.
Too boring
