  • Crucial?
    Nope.
    Cool?
    Yep.
    The platysma is a muscle quite superficial, meaning that it's close to the surface of the skit. It covers the front left and front right sides of the neck, stretching from just below the collarbone to just above the jawline. The platysma pulls the edges of the mouth down and back, like when wincing or...cringing.
    All hail the mighty platysma!

    Lmao, the editing and humour are on point dude. The improvement in editing while comparing the current videos to older ones is clearly visible. A great demonstration of using your creativity to get ahead in the absence of big-budget, high "production value" aesthetics.

    That muscle separates and turns into spaghetti strings as women age and especially if it’s overworked. That’s why women get Botox in their platysmal bands. They pull downward and are a huge contributor to jowling in the jawline. Any plastic surgeon or dermatologist will tell you (especially women) to not overwork it.

    do those lying neck curls only train the platysma? or do they also make your neck thicker? Do you need to lie on your stomach and the the opposite version (neck extension) as well? or is that taken care of via rows?

    • @GVS
      @GVS  Год назад +1

      They train neck width as well. You can do extensions (best with a harness )to train the back of the neck. Both work the sides of the neck.

    Ah, yes, I am intimately familiar with that muscle. After breaking my Clavicle and undergoing surgery to fix it, my Platysma of the right shoulder had to be detached, the collarbone screwed together, and then it got reattached again. The reason why you shouldn't move your arm more than 35 degrees for a week is not that the bone could refracture (that thing is screwed together, so it's probably sturdier than before); it is because the Platysma needs time to grow on to the bone again.
    And you know, with that plate still installed, I can tell you how fucking important that muscle is. It hurts with every elementary movement because it scrapes against the screwed-in plate.
    Ordinary people can leave the plate with no trouble. But if you start lifting, it has to come out. My year is almost up; I'll be making an appointment asap, as I began to lift last week... Fun fact: pull-ups don't hurt one bit. Something about that movement is so fluid; it's as if that plate isn't even there. The Platysma doesn't seem to be involved much when doing pull-ups. It hurts like heck when doing overhead presses :)
    Anyhow, you truly appreciate a muscle once you can feel it. Especially when something is not right ;) Don't break your Clavicle, guys.

    Man I have a question can I built muscle with this training regime with light weights (18 kgs).I am 15 and have a fairly lean build I've been training for around a year now and I have never optimised my diet but I eat under 1600 calories and this is my training regime
    Dumbbell thrust with hold 20*5
    Dumbbell flies superset with bench press
    20*5
    Dumbell walking lunges 20*5
    Dumbbell bent renegade rows 20*5
    Dumbell skull crushers superset with narrow grip bench press 10*5
    Lateral raises 10*5
    Bicep curls 10*5
    I used to have perfect squats and thrusters but now my legs make creaky noises whenever I try to squat so could you please also suggest another exercise instead of it my legs are my genetic strongpoint since they have been grew and gained definition even with bodyweight lunges and jump squats. Your help would be appreciated (◕ᴗ◕✿)
    Even if you can't help man love your content keep it up💪

    • @GVS
      @GVS  3 года назад +1

      Yea you can build muscle on that. I'd up the calories quite a bit, though. 1600 when trying to get bigger, especially at 15 and when already lean is just not going to be enough for anyone.
      For squats, I'd change the range of motion, tempo, loading and volume before dropping them entirely. They're too fundamental of a movement to just throw out so early.

    BRO PLEASE ANSWER- What do you think is the rate of muscle gain per year for TEENAGERS(14 TO 18), because isnt the normal something like 12 to 18 lbs for adults in the first year, wouldnt it be higher for teens? (better hormone levels, less stress(less cortisol), more rest and recovery, and simply puberty) like around 15 to 25lbs in the first year etc?

    Platysma is a skin muscle, the only one that humans can contract at will. Cows and horses have much more skin muscles they can use, to get rid of flies and mosquitos. The exercises in this video do not train the Platysma. It is pointless to try and develop this muscle.
