Out of all of Rob Kaman's fights against Kiatsongrit - this is the only one, where he displays exemplary footwork, movement, counters, proper K1 kickboxing, - rooted in boxing and changing angles. He dominated almost the entire fight, and won with a KO. His clinch work was (and remained) weak, yes...unfortunately. But why he went on and changed his style back to a rigid imitation of his opponent...no idea... Only to lose two more times by decision. A strange mystery indeed, although every now and then strange things happen.
@Great White He should've taken lessons from Peter Smit. The only one who knew exactly how to discourage the thai from resorting to constantly hanging onto the opponent while hiding from the actual combat.
Inderdaad.
Both great fighters. I liked the half way adjustment the Thai made. He realized he was losing the striking game so he switched to more clinching and knees which helped him get back in the fight. I found it strange Rob didn’t go for any high kicks though. I know he’s “Mr. Low Kick” but a change up never hurts.
The music is always played . They even play it in trucks to promote fights in thailand . It is pretty abrasive in person but eventually you stop being so aware of it while they are fighting .
Great footwork by Kaman, Changpuek superior clinching as every thai and of course amazing hip power...Lots of knees to the balls, by the way, what the fuck was that? Was the ref dumb?
@@daffymuck295 At that time Knee to the groin were not allowed , but Changpuek did that many times . He is shorter tahb Rob so knee will go the groin , don't think it was very intentional .
Yeah...Rob Kaman proves once again that technique and tactics win the day. He basically taught muai thai to the thai here... And boxing...definitely boxing.
I think you just forgot. Smit would fight back by any means necessary to avoid being cheap-shot. He'd use street tactics in a blink and not give a damn. If the opponent resorts to cheap-shots through some weird hugging - Smit was gonna bring the world of hurt on him, and then some. Using whatever he could. And it worked. Fast thinking, street tactics, - the only remedy in those cases. I salute Peter Smit for that.
Light Heavyweight. Fighters must weigh more than 168 pounds or 76.364 kg but not exceeding 175 pounds or 79.379 kg. Kaman fought at a lower weight and his oponent had to move up in weight. So there was at most a 7pound/3kg difference between them. Enjoy the fight dont be salty.

Is this normal referee work for this kind of match? Seen him getting between the fighters and the corner trying to keep them out. Plus he seems to really push the fight during any pause in action. I'm not complaining, just curious.
In thailand it quite normal to break the fight in coner if you can grab opponent when you are trap in the corner and he cant immedietly attack you refferee can go in and break the fight
@@HolgerDaniai don't disagree but, the ref would've definitely stopped the fight if he knew Changpeuk got his jaw broken on that first knockdown. Again a testament to Changpeuks toughness, I just think that it's a misnomer to say Rick got destroyed because the fight could've went either way from the bell.
That's why he didn't get to fight in thai land much. Was nobody there in his weight class. He only won 1 fight out of 4 vs this guy . Whom he said was his toughest opponent .
@Great White ....and there was me thinking that there is a very good reason why weight divisions restrict each class within a 3kg upper to lower limit.....in short I am inclined to treat your opinion as just that, your opinion.
