I don`t think he is underrated. Kickboxing by itself is an underrated sport due to the popularity of MMA. But most kickboxing fans considered Kaman to be the greatest striker in history.
When it comes to kickboxing, this fight is a masterpiece. What a display of skill, endurance and strenght. It could go either way, I guess thats kind of obvious. But Kaman clinch and footwork gave him a super advantage when he was in trouble. He was a true genious, and I am a big fan of Hoost.
I guess I saw it the other way with Hoost landing good knees in the clinch while Rob did throw him down three times I believe it was. Rob had harder kicks but it seemed his head was also getting snapped back with regularity. Either way it was a great fight with an obvious finish.

Kaman's positioning is almost super human. Even when he gets clipped, and seriously gets clipped, he manages to position in such a way to deflect the attack and re-take initiative almost instantly. Also his stamina is insane but this can also be said for Hoost. His superior positioning granted Kaman the knock out. Hoost landed some knees and an uppercut that by all accounts should have turned off the lights.
Rob's resilience in this match was otherworldly. I count two times where Hoost tried to connect with kicks only for Rob to just tank right through him and Hoost was the one thrown off balance. 1:39 if you pay close attention you'll hear that sickening slap of Hoost's shin knocking against Rob's guard and the block itself was enough. Hoost started falling before Rob even lashed back with his own kick. I know Rob was hurting but somehow he just got through it.

I was fortunate to be there. Rob Kaman was already a legend. One of the greatest fighters of all time. Hoost became a legend later on. Both masters of "the Dutch school".

I dont think anyone considers fighting ambidextrously to be a small thing at all there's a reason people try to avoid southpaws especially early in there careers
Fascinating to see two such legendary low-kickers go at it in their prime. Kaman impressively neutralized Hoost's primary weapon and started timing his punches to counter, even though it seemed he was a bit more gassed. Hoost is one of my favorite fighters and I'm surprised to see his game get picked apart. This is like Genius fight-IQ versus Einstein.

Reading a biography from Hoost, as to why I'm reviewing this particular fight, but the way he describes it doesnt add up to the reality that was this fight at all. Both these guys are legends in their own right though.
