I had a new set of 14" K Custom Dark hi hats and sold them because they were too bright and clangy for my 20" K Custom Dark ride. Right now, I am using a pair of vintage light weight Avedis which are actually darker. I'm looking for a good deal on a pair of Zildjian 14" K Light hi hats for a softer and darker sound to add to my collection.
Listen to them in person before buying them. I found there was a huge difference in sound from all the videos I watched. The ones I bought were too bright and clangy....hated them. Traded them in at a local drum shop for a pair of old Avedis New Beats (light weight, back then) which were darker and more musical.
I’ve played a set of quick beat bottoms and rock top for a long time so I’m definitely used to that sound but I’d love to try one of the them 14 Ks on top of the. Quick beat.
That's the main pairing I use since about 2012. Quick beats from the early 90's with a set of K's from 2012. Quick bottom K top works for almost anything. I also am mixing in K Constantinople. All 14 inches so I can mix and match depending on the gig. I want to add in some K sound edge and K darks in the future. It's fun to mix them up. K top as a bottom with K con on top...etc.
@@siim605 I had a set of B8 cymbals 32 years ago ! That makes me real old - 😂 wish I still had them now - even for posterity sake - they were actually a decent sounding hi hat and the crash sound cut through too as Nelson will probably agree. 🙏🏼 🥁🇦🇺
@@siim605 yeah jaja, well that's the year I bought my kit along with that hi hat and a crash ride also b8. Recently upgraded to HHX Evolution hi hat and now I can hear the difference but still the old b8 kicks butt!!
@@bodhi9464 yeah, those old b8 hats sound very decent, specially for rock purposes! Can't say the same about the crashes though, not a big fan but I do love and own two 10 b8x splashes. They super cut with that fast high pitched brilliant sound and I use them A LOT!! 🤙
I think the huge hit-era fad is over, thank god. It was getting out control. I think Pridgen was using 17 in hats for a while. lol I never got the big hats thing.
I just saw an old video of Alfredo Hernandez from Kyuss and you can clearly see him playing 18" crashes for hi-hats. I doubt he ever used those in the studio, just crazy to see, even live
I'm really digging the k Constantinople's
Constantinople is pure magic
I totally agree 😊
my pair is for sale
@@thomaskleinhans2384 got a link?
@@thomaskleinhans2384 did you sell them?

That Pearl Free Floating snare matches the DW toms and bassdrum perfectly : )
Instablaster...
Quick beat 👍
😊
Those K customs sound amazing

@@boomerguy9935 Absolutely!
I think the K Sweets, but in a smaller size would be my favorite...
Try the 15" Sweets... I love them.
It’s that sweet ride for me!
Nice choice 😊

Thank you for this! Great job on the comparison video.
Thank you 😊
Thanks for comparison. From these I would prefere K Custom Dark, but I'm not the fan of so dry hihats
In my opinion all comparisons should be as similar or same conditions as possible. Said so, 16” K sweet are out!!
?? do you have the pair of quick beat zildjian hi hat 14" inch sized that were demo'd / recorded in with this u-rube video just curiously asking ...😊
El top de todas las parejas de que probas en este video está muy apretado y no deja sonar libremente al hi hat y aparte puede causar una rotura.
I will take 1 of each.
Very good demo!! 👍 I'm impressed that the k custom dark sounds almost the same to my 24 year old sabian b8!! 😮
Wow, your cymbal is as old as I am, and I've played drums for 15 years!

He was using 19” hats lol, and made up of Zildjian Z3 medium crashes at that!
