I've had an r36 for about 5 years and I look out for vids on them. I ts not perfect but I do love it. I do think it's very well put together with no rattles. It's quick and touch wood very reliable. I quite enjoy the rarity factor . Hoping it keeps value. Who knows what's going to happen with petrol though .
Owned an 2009 R36 sedan here Australia, paid hardly nothing for it. Replaced a few small services items plus rotors, track pads and fluid then took it to Eastern Creek track where it worked very well for a daily street car.
Love those VR6 engines just some about them also easy to work on since its a traverse engine Thinking about getting a mk2 tt 3.2 but they so rare in America Keep videos coming
Found on RUclips - not my idea : Haladex rear filter - if it won’t come out easy - screw a self tapping screw in the centre - then use it as a fulcrum to lever it out - simples 👍
The mighty R36! My DREAM CAR! Very hard to find these here in Canada BUT I do own a VW CC 3.6L 4-motion, it's the "De-tuned" version of the R36 and I don't have the DSG, it's a Aisin 6 speed Auto. Brilliant work mate!
The only difference between the R36 and CC 3.6 is the gearbox, R36 had different DSG gearbox to achieve the 0-100/60 bit faster. I had the CC, didnt felt too much of a speed from it to be honest, S5 without tune felt twice as fast as the CC even that the numbers are not that different.
@@hexagonosaurus5848 Not sure if mighty, to me it felt slow but it's a for sure budget GT car + you can have a wagon. So i would say budget/midget audi RS :D
Huh? The EU version of the CC 3.6 has the DQ250 DSG gearbox... You sure about the Aisin stuff in yours? Also the 3.6 CC makes around 300hp as well, 295 is apparently the official figure from the factory, 220kW.
I'm in the motor trade commercial vehicles mainly but I never knew they done this model Passat. I loved my old Passat on a 55 plate last of the old shape. True work horse I bought it with 100k on it and it got wrote off by a skip lorry with 400k on clock. Original engine and box only done 2 clutches and that's with towing a small twin wheel trailer now and again. But great looking R36 never seen 1 before 👍
It's so refreshing in UK to see a professional service where the guys actually know what they're doing. You owe the VAG a debt of gratitude for providing guys like you a huge aftermarket opportunity for repairing their products. What engine oil do your victims receive, is it the usual car workshop brown and slippery or is it pukka stuff? Thanks guys.
As always great content. Love the background music in the beginning. You guys definitely need a upgrade in lighting tools. Hood bar would be great and lighting for under the car.
Nice work once again...as always. That's a really sweet car! Never even heard of it over here in the US and I got a 2013 Golf R. Give that thing a good intake, good exhaust and a 6 speed manual and I'm upgrading!
I have a Passat VR6 4MOTION Wagon that is very close to a R36 ...it has Passat CC front seats, 345mm front brakes, same engine as a R36 but my car has the slow shifting Tiptronic transmission...I'm in Daytona Beach Florida.
R36 is an elusive car over here but I've always had an interest in them. This is a great way to see the realities of owning one. Excellent videos, keep us the stellar work. Ar feabhas 👏
Thanks for this, very helpful. I really enjoy your videos, they are very well done and well explained. I have the Skoda Superb V6 combi(same mechanicals with a bit less power, mine has the sports suspension and most options) and I am about to do a major service here in country Australia. I have no access to an aftermarket VW repairer so do all my own servicing and have access to a hoist. Thankfully the Skoda has been supremely reliable. I also have the VCDS software and have just replaced the instrument cluster on my Touareg 3.0TDI 4Xmotion and last year replaced the centre bearing on the tailshaft with the help of a retired friend who said it was just like a Bell helicopter system! Using your help I have become more confident to tackle such jobs as I am in my late 60s and have no mechanical or trade training. Perhaps you could include the torque specifications you use when tightening bolts? That would really help. Thanks again.
Thanks for the great how-to video. 👍👍 Btw, we can't see what you were doing down there. Do you mind putting some lighting down there, so we can see what you did? Thanks.
Keep up up the GREAT WORK guys live by the sword die by the sword!!!...BTW I don't think I mentioned how absolutely awesome your HOODIES they are extremely warm compared to my others so well made and good quality worth every penny!!.... keep plugging them mate be FANTASTIC for this winter as were all trying different ways of keeping warm without the added heating costs!!! thanks guys 👌🏾✌🏾😉
I would have removed haldex pump to clean gauze filter on pump suction. If chocked pump starved of oil. Since filter was not changed makes this even more essential.
My first rule of transmission oil changes is remove the fill/Level plug before you remove the drain plug! Nothing worse than draining the oil and then finding out the fill plug is seized in or butchered! 😭
@@VAGTechnic here in Canada the early B6 Passat 3.6 also got single piece manifold… lots of fun when removing for valve cover gasket replacement or intake valve cleaning
Hi I would really like to get your advice on a car i am looking to by, i currently have a Audi A1 1.4 TFSI and want to upgrade to something abit more sporty and bigger , i have always loved the A5 and i see alot of S5 B8.5's coming into the second hand market here at the moment. Would you say the 3.0L V6 engine is a reliable engine if service on 10k km intervals ? When looking at one what signs and sounds should i look out for ? Do the Gearboxes give alot of issues or not really I also have noticed in your videos the CATS give lots of issues on these cars so would a deCat be recommended for the longevity of the vehicle Keep up the great work in the workshop and youtube i am a massive fan and have nearly watched all your videos Sorry i know its not a Audi video but its the latest one so i thought i have the best chance for a reply on this video
They have some issues like any other 7-10 year old cAr . Gearbox is OK specifically after 2010 . Engine will need service like PCV valve , walnut clean , water pump , thermostat . Otherwise oil change regularly will prevent internal problems . Defo look for chain rattle on start up and first 1-2 minutes
Could you put the cost off the job At the end off the videos Just an idea I would like to know how much an honest mechanic charges Cheers love the videos keep up the excellent 👌 work

To me is the B6 one of the best VAG best cars ever produced, BUT the FSI engines were shit, so many problems and for what? Just bit of higher compression. If this would be just a MPI with bit less power it would be awesome engine!
Just a question: I see you torqueing the bolts for the engine mount using extensions. They always told me that if you use extensions with a torque wrench, the torque settings are inaccurate. How is your vision on this?

3:40. The 'o' ring is on the tip of the filter. It must be taken out fitted and to the bolt on the filter cover. Lol.

Since filter was not changed makes this even more essential.
To remove that filter you use a large screw wound into the center and lever the screw as the filter is mega tight
