Interesting what is considered OEM pads across the world. Your side of the world is Pagid oem. Pagid in Soutrh Africa is aftermarket yet TRW currently is OEM, but we can buy TRW embossed aftermarket as well. Thanks for another great video!

Hi I love your videos and your input as you went. I had many vw golf's and even a golf R, I ended up selling it and I buy a A3 3.2 VR6, for the money and the sound you get from a VR6 engine, it's hard to beat. Plus I think VR6 will go up in price in the future. My A3 I have decided not to ever sell it. My wife drives a mk6 tdi golf with dsg, it's a great car, my son drive a mk 4 tdi golf, and my other Audi is a Q7 4.2 tdi and it broke the timing chains, 183,000 kms, ( I check not clocked) 17 bend valves, 27 broken roller rockers, lots of damage, I going to weld up the upper sump, as the boss for a chain guide, got ripped off. It's been a pig of a job, but I hope to get it running again. I got a quote to do just the timing chains and guides and some seals, was $9500.00 new zealand dollars, and if anything else was found to be damaged would be a extra. So I been doing it myself, so far spent around $5000. For parts and head work. So once again I thank you for your videos as it help me work on my audi lemon.
Yes true that's cheap.. I've had my mk4 R32 since 2015 and had the chains done in 2016 and cost me 2k that time including manual gearbox input shaft rebuilt and thermostat housing nd 1 lambda sensor.. so this after many years cheap still

Hi Bud Your videos are superb, your very good at what you do & very thorough going through the job, your honesty also is second to none, just had my son's Audi A3 3.2 V6 completely done the same but also needed new exhaust etc, company in my town called MRC Tuning.. I watched your videos & even spoke to you to bring it to you to do, but due to time restraints & distance went with MRC Tuning Ltd, I know a few lads there who worked on it, absolutely love the car & sound, but your very unique.. truly genuine awesome work fella 👍👍

When you see all the sludge in the oil pick up, it’s just criminal on how this car was cared for. Always loved the VR6 in the Golf GTI with the 6 speed manual, torque was on demand and a fun drive.
i bought new brembo discs and pads for felicia and left disc was uneven or something and it shaked when was light braking at high speed and it destroyed 7 wheel bearings 2 ball joints in 5 years, i finally decided to replace it with no name-max gear that works perfectly
For whomever moans about how much it costs to fix a car like that properly remember Dealer prices are outrageously expensive but you get what you pay for, you can obviously do it cheaper but it's a saying do it cheaper do it twice because unfortunately 90% of aftermarket parts quality it's utter shit , in my opinion on the brakes I would have gone with textar instead of factory since even VW uses those for lambos and the price have been about 50% cheaper and probably same or better quality but again you cannot find them locally anywhere in UK they have to be ordered from overseas, other then that what this guys are doing and how they are doing it is absolutely perfect. So remember you want quality you fork up the cash that's all !

hi....on my tt MK2 3.2 I made the timing chains and also changed the flywheel (194,000 km) after just 10,000km the flywheel splinters and fiber again,,, why?
Hey man. Can you share what are the acceptable crank positions for both 208 and 209? My vr6 is the FSI one with the HPFP. My chains were changed around a year ago and I have -1 and +5 for banks 2 and 1. And now I get this P0016 error on Bank1. So I wonder if my car was never timied accurately? I get the error randomly but each time it happened was only after driving it for some time and then going slow. Lastly if it is the adjuster failing, can it be swapped without pulling down the engine ? Thank you!

Genuine VW brake discs and pads are not worth it. My VW dealer wanted 200euros just for the set of front brake pads for my Passat B8. That's crazy! Than i bought ATE Ceramic front brake pads for 85euros.

It makes no difference what its worth on paper. A new golf R is £50,000ish. If the owner likes that car and wants it to work as intended then fix it and enjoy many miles in it. £1800 is a hell of a lot better than being 50k in debt for a car thats losing value.
You cant compare an R32 to a new R in any way..Those who buy a classic/special car dont do it because they might be cheaper than a new car..Now i think that the total cost landed at 4500?,..but to me it sounds like a bargain.
@@Swemist I wasnt comparing the two cars against each other. Its just a lot of the time with the older cars, Some owners decide the car isnt worth repairing, and they buy a new car. The R32, was the top of the range golf. Now its the R, so I was just getting at the fact that its going to cost them 50k to get a new car, assuming they want a new car, and not just a new to them R32. But yeah I agree the two cars dont compare in any way.
With VAG Technik in your area, you are a LOT better off getting a used car sorted than buying new. You can upgrade the music system easier too. Only down is that the new one has boost and smart phone blah blah blah

Have noticed most bills start with a 4, anyone that can afford to have a monitor that size and lighting like that just for a workshop i would be running a mile

The only person that has a valid opinion of whether this car was worth it is the guy paying the bill. If he is happy, then all is good.

On a VW I also like Zimmerman rotors(or Brembo) and Pagid brake pads. The pads have a little better fade resistance.

How many miles did he have and how much did MRC charge? is it still running well?
@rjj00 car had 123k miles & yes drives & runs perfect, sounds loud with Cobra exhaust & sports cats, ( little to loud ) car had a full respray also..👍

Window repairs….Only vw/Audi is it not uncommon. I remember those kind of repairs in my vw. Its a shame really.
