The Sony A7S iii with an 24-70mm F2.8 lens barely fits on the RS 3. I think if you use this setup you are better off with the RS3 Pro (even though DJI says otherwise).

You don't need the RS3 Pro unless you're going to be using Cine Cameras. If you're mainly using a mirrorless in run and gun situations 90% of the time, the RS3 is good enough. We shoot weddings and we try to keep everything as absolutely light and nimble as possible so "rigging" out our camera is not a thing. The most we'll put on there is a shotgun mic and a cage and the RS3 and RSC2 handles it well. The carbon fiber is in my opinion a huge plus though, just the way it feels is so much better but I think i'll take a lighter load over that if I absolutely needed to choose.
It might be fine for your wedding videos but for someone who makes movies for a living, especially action, thriller, Lidar range finder with wireless transmitter that has 6 km range is something you definitely need and only Pro has those. Hi! Sorry for the lateness. As someone who tries to look at the lightest setup possible, I’m assuming you at least looked up for the RS3 Mini right? I’m extremely doubtful between the Mini and the regular one. My camera now is a fuji x-s10 but if I manage to make a living of filmmaking I will upgrade to Sony full-frame. Just wanna know, how do you feel about the RS3 mini? Do you think it’s better for a beginner to buy an RS3 mini now and eventually get an RS3 Pro, or just get a regular RS3 for every use case?
Idk. The FX3 and say, the 14mm GM only come in at 1193 grams. I don't see the validity of recommending the Pro for it 100 percent. Body is only a hundred grams over the A7SIII.
You don't need an RS3 Pro to run an FX3? It only weighs 640g - the A7SIII weighs more. You can probably even run an fx6 with a lot of lenses. It will probably balance better as it won't be as front heavy. That said, if you have the money the RS3 Pro is the way to go. If you don't you can still run a lot of cameras on the RS3 mini which is even cheaper but has a built in battery like RSC 2.
1) I am thrilled that a female cam op/DOP is reviewing these because there seems to be a dearth of that 2) this is legit one of the best most info packed reviews that answers my Q's That said I am stuck with the RS2 for a bit as I got it 7 weeks ago

Ive been wathcing so many of these videos and I apprevaite the direct comment in the intro about just get the PRO if you have these cameras. Thank you. I stayed and watched the whole video to gain more knowledge and i appreciate your perspective. Thanks!
The payload of the RSC2 was not mentioned? Whaaaaaaattt?? 14hrs battery life out of the RSC2 - NO WAY!! Most I get out of the RSC2 is around 8 to 9 hours and I have tested this on multiple full days. Leaving it in standby mode might get you to 14hrs. My setup is pretty heavy and I think I might be maxing out the payload, which could also affect the battery life but the payload max was not mentioned 😂 (Sony A7iii + Sigma Art 24/70 f2.8)
An important consideration, beyond simple payload metrics, is the size of the arms on each gimbal and the center of gravity on your camera setup. For example, the Sony FX3 and a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens is within the payload constraints of the RS3 and I'm sure it would handle it just fine. However, my experience with running the FX3 with the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, with the FX3 in a Tilta cage and a filter + matte box on the RSC2 is that it **usually** works, but sometimes the gimbal loses balance and locks out at the 70mm end, even though that setup is within the weight specs. Similarly, the original Ronin SC technically **should** be able to hold a full-frame mirrorless camera and lens, but you can't even balance the gimbal with the A7iv and a 14mm prime lens (small lens) because the arms and plates are too short and the center of gravity is too far forward. So, yes, pay attention to the payload constraints -- but unless your setup is perfectly shaped and balanced for the gimbal, you should go with the RS3 Pro if your rig is even approaching the RS3's weight limit.
Question, Canon EOS R6 Mark ii rigged with cage, monitor, mic etc. would the RS3 be able to handle the extras or would it be better to get the RS3 Pro when adding all the extras to the R6 Mark ii ?
I am still trying to figure out which one to get for an r5c + rf 24-70 or rf 70-200 f/2.8. On paper the RS3 should work but that do I have enough headroom?
Nice video! I would like to know if there is a possibility of powering the RS3 externally. I know that Power Supply Baseplate with D-Tap & NATO Mount is only available for the Ronin RS3 Pro. Do you think it would be good for the RS3 as well?
Forgot to mention, I have the ronin sc and my Panasonic g9 ii and 10-25 can't balance that's why I am looking for maybe the rs3? Weight is not a problem, it's balancing, not enough room
i tried a a7iii with a cage, tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and a small shotgun mic and it works fine the sony 70-200mm f2.8 will not work on the rs3 And the a7iii will not output to my atomos and the photos will not save into the camera if you connect the usb c to from the rs3 to the a7iii

I really appreciate you taking the time to shoot this, edit, post, etc., ... people just don't realise how much time that takes. (And we haven't even touched on the story-boarding prep that goes into these vids)! I'm shooting with a teeny-tiny MFT Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mk II. The smaller / lighter body and lenses make it great for throwing in the backpack when I'm skiing / snowboarding, rock-climbing, etc., ... So I probably just need an RS 3 BUT ... Too big gimbals too top heavy. The center of gravity should be move at the bottom like the weebill 3. Dji should rethink their design. Also people are complaining online about the noise motor on the RS3 but absolutely no mention on any of the reviewers that cannot be trusted.
The RSC-2 and RS3 are basically the same exact gimbal minus the screen, auto gimbal lock, and the removable battery. So, I can't understand why you say you don't recommend it when you do recommend the RS3. If you are going through more than one battery in a day that's crazy (plus you would look like the hulk, so judging by your bicep muscles I would say you don't shoot for 15 hours every day on a gimbal). The RSC-2 is a better buy IMO than the RS3 if you can find it used or on sale, plus the RSC-2 Pro kit comes with Raven eye, which is a better deal than the RS3 combo kit.
Can the Ronin RS3 support active track if you have the raven eye and use your phone as a monitor. It looks like the pro only has the active track feature on the 1.8 touch screen but can I access that feature still within the DJI app using raven eye?

The RSC2 with my Fuji X-S10 has been such an excellent compact setup for me this past year. That combo with any of Fuji’s compact f2 lenses weighs absolutely nothing so I can carry it all day no problem, and I can walk or ride my skateboard with it one handed and get great results. Not everyone needs every pro feature all the time, and I’ve found that I reach for the compact setup 75% of the time, while my bulky Ronin 2 and A7S III rig setup just collects dust.
So the RS3 can't use the touch screen for live feet with the raveneye and the RS3 Pro does while they basicly have the same screen only different functions ?
Great Video! Just copped the RS3 as my Zhiyun Crane 2 got broken. But unless the FX3 isn't fully rigged out, you can use it on the RS3 just like all a7 cameras, as the FX3 is like 50g lighter than the a7sIII

Will this be able to handle a front heavy camera set up? For example a Lumix S5 with S Pro 24-70 lens? The lens on my set up is so from heavy my ronin SC just can’t handle it
Thanks for making this! I literally upgraded from my ronin-S and bought an RSC2 about 10 days before they announced the RS3 line. Appreciate the comparison between these 3 specifically, it was literally exactly what I needed!

This is a very informative video. If you are planning to give away one of the gimbals, I would love to be the lucky one, as I do not have one, and it would be really handy for recording my videos.
Is DJI going to come out with a new gimbal every year now? This gimbal is nothing revolutionary, especially if you have the previous edition. Save your money
I need to do something for more video stabilization and flow, and this helps. Thanks. But for me to be "low walking", gosh, only a young but cuter Cameron Diaz type could pull that off. None the less, great complete video.
Would the Ronin Rs3 be able to support the Canon 90d with the 18-135 mm lens ? I’m having trouble finding the answer , thank you! This would be my first gimbal so I want to be sure it works!
A year late, but I went with the regular rs3 for my zv-e1 with 24-60 kit lens. The mini would gave been enough, but figured I'd future proof for bigger lenses. First gimbal ever, I'm so excited, it sgows up tonorrow.
@LizziePeirce, You mentioned the weight being the biggest difference. How does the integrated subject tracking on the Pro factor in for you? I've never had a gimbal but being able to do subject tracking without a phone attached sounds like a massive asset.
Using DJI ronin S locks up my Canon R5C camera when I hit record on the gimbal. Just checked the forums and thus is going on with new Dji ronin RS 3 pro also. Dji has known about this for over a year!
Does anyone know if a longer heavier lens like the tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 can fit onto the rs3? I know it’s got the payload capability but does it have enough room at the back? Last thing you want is to have your set up balanced then realise the viewfinder is touching the gimbal arm at the back when you tilt forward.
Could you comment, can you use both prime and zoom lens on a gimbal in general? Wanting to use a Canon R5C on the RS3 or pro. I own have prime lens at moment. What zoom range Lens might you suggest for the R5C? Truly enjoyed your video. Great presentation...great smile.

Just because you asked for me to stay, ill stay, but thanks for answering my question on the Fx3
Why don't you talk about weak points? For example, the legs, they are plastic and after a while they hang out in different directions.
This is a very informative video. If you are planning to give away one of the gimbals, I would love to be the lucky one, as I do not have one, and it would be really handy for recording my videos.
Hi rs3 is compatible with a7iii?
Is DJI going to come out with a new gimbal every year now? This gimbal is nothing revolutionary, especially if you have the previous edition. Save your money
what about mobile app? it is not on adroid/apple store..
I need to do something for more video stabilization and flow, and this helps. Thanks. But for me to be "low walking", gosh, only a young but cuter Cameron Diaz type could pull that off. None the less, great complete video.
Hello how can I auto focus with R6ii on a RS3 Pro ?
Would the Ronin Rs3 be able to support the Canon 90d with the 18-135 mm lens ? I’m having trouble finding the answer , thank you! This would be my first gimbal so I want to be sure it works!
A year late, but I went with the regular rs3 for my zv-e1 with 24-60 kit lens. The mini would gave been enough, but figured I'd future proof for bigger lenses. First gimbal ever, I'm so excited, it sgows up tonorrow.
The dangers of the Gimbel walk :)
hold up the RS3 Pro has Auto Tune? 😂
What is with the beeping throughout… had to just mute it and read captions
@LizziePeirce, You mentioned the weight being the biggest difference. How does the integrated subject tracking on the Pro factor in for you? I've never had a gimbal but being able to do subject tracking without a phone attached sounds like a massive asset.
Kann man mit diesen Gimbals auch Videos im Hochformat aufnehmen?
Should have included a full comparison of RS2
No you shouldn't have. You gave all the information that was needed.
i just want to slap that LiDar on my r2s , if DJI could make that an option, that would be great thanks
THX for the review!
Does RS3 work for Blackmagic Pocket Cam 4k?
Does RS3 work for vertical videos - like the mini?
Using DJI ronin S locks up my Canon R5C camera when I hit record on the gimbal. Just checked the forums and thus is going on with new Dji ronin RS 3 pro also. Dji has known about this for over a year!
Does anyone know if a longer heavier lens like the tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 can fit onto the rs3? I know it’s got the payload capability but does it have enough room at the back? Last thing you want is to have your set up balanced then realise the viewfinder is touching the gimbal arm at the back when you tilt forward.
@lizziepeirce Actually I remember you do have the 35-150 from the self portrait video! Can you test this out?
Did you find this out? I'm also interested
Can we mont them on monopod?
Bloopers, how's your head? 🤣 Nothing damage girl?!
Anyone know if it's possible to connect the RS3 to a GH5 via Bluetooth? I thought that some features (eg record) were available. Was I wrong?
My favourite laptop desktop recently macbook dell lenovo with sata ssd I 7
Hi Lizzie. A fan here. One hint on your audio, the s sound is really sharp in my headset. It has a name when that happens, but a forgot it. Thanks for the vid. Anywaysss! Cheers.
ahhh, she didn't have RS2 to test against, is that so
For all Canon users, Will the RS3 work with the Mark IV 50mm 1:1.2 Lens??
Nobody has mentioned that DJI have made the best alteration EVER by swapping the "M" and Record buttons around...
mobile phone vs dslr who more successful with purity in audience reach
Talk about Feiyutech SCORP C.
@Lizzie, i thought the rs3 could handle the fx3 and fx30 pending what lens you use right ?
I am on a R5 with a grip
What do you think
Rs3 rastreia automático?
I’m just trying to video my kid running around…I feel like this is all overkill but still want it 😂
I saw what you did there bringing the cable into the shot! 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Lizzie, Thanks for the great video. Just curious why you recommend the RS3Pro for use with the Sony FX3. Weight is only 1.6 lb / 715 g plus a lens.
I got a great deal on the RSC 2 Pro Combo bundle. So that decided. (I never need more than 8h of battery anyways)
would the rs3be able to hold the weight of the 24-70 on a a7iii or would that be the pro model?
Would i be ok with the rs3 using an a7iv w/cage mic and maybe and monitor or go with the pro?
😂😂😂 didn’t know the Raveneye was a Star Wars Ship😂😭 you got me there
The rs3 pro is nice and all especially because of the lidar focus but i could buy a 2. rs 3 combo for the price of the focus system alone 😢
You're great, enjoyed this! Really helpful too, thanks!
that's why Brandon Li said to watch where you're going. LOL
So active track on the RS3 can only be used when in the app on your phone using the transmitter?
I got a noob question
Can we use iphone 13 pro max to the DJI rS3?
Should I get the RS 3 when I have an original Roninn S?
