Reminds me of working on my Yeti. You got to take everything apart to change a bell crank. Or anything up front. The whole thing has to come apart. But once you get aluminum hubs and Knuckles. Runs great I never really break it. I drive it a couple of times a week I take that out and drive around my neighborhood walking the dog. Almost exclusively run on a 2's battery. I do throw the 3s and once in awhile. But on to ass you don't even twist the stock rear drive shaft.
Man, I've been. Having so many issues with my hotshot rere. It's all the driveline. Fortunately, the electronics are fine. I got a sport tuned motor for it, it was my high school graduation gift. 3 years later, it's still not running, and I can't figure out what it is.
Rear. I think it's something to do with the diffs. Those were a pain. Front ones spin fine. When both are in, they make this grinding sound, and I don't trust it. This was my first 4wd vehicle after the tt02 I built. Oh boy did I overestimate my skill. I'll get it running one day, I swear
That sucks, things like this happen to me all the time. Epic Fails are part of the Hobby. Great video nonetheless. In the meantime, Amazon Prime the ESC and get her done! Good luck...
Nice bit of diagnosis finding an intermittent fault 👍 but strangely reminds me of the scene when the terminator gets chopped in half but is still alive !!!
Love your channel, try CP rc helicopters for faults, ahh..can drive ya (no pun intended) insane, i do RC cars, and RC helicopters, helis are a real wallet killer..lol
Sounds like a brown out. You got a bad servo. Or bad receiver. Did your receiver get wet. That can cause it. But it sounds like a brown out that means your Servo
Yep when you have the part that is. Now I have a split in two Hotshot for a week and I was kind of hoping to finish it up and drive it this afternoon. Well, always next weekend.
Watching this in 2023 and loving how far you have come in 3 years. 😊
The old videos are shockingly bad lol
You could try checking the solder joints to see if they look 'dry' and try 'touching them up' with a soldering iron.
Do you have a secret warehouse full of those Core RC receivers ? They are impossible to find these days.
Anyone else get a 'Bishop from Alien 3' vibe from the Hotshot when it was apart and twitching?
i realize it is pretty randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to stream new movies online?
@Nathan Quinn I watch on flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Tristan Mateo yup, I've been using flixzone for years myself :D
@Tristan Mateo thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it !!
@Nathan Quinn Happy to help =)
Love short and sweet... not a fail because you found the problem!
I once had an issue where my Hotshot would run and then stop. Took apart the motor and turned out a tiny metal staple was stuck to one of the magnets.
Not a total loss ..... you found the intermittent problem! That is a win in my book.

The Hotshot is a nice car, but a pain in the ....... to work on. Nice channel Tamiya Rc is 👍

I’m surprised, the drive line is a simple one. Issue is at the rear or the front?

Sounds like the contacts in the battery connectors are loose.

RC Retro Two on order already. One for this car and one to keep for such an event in the future.
Exactly what I said you know when take something out to break something to fix something else that is exactly right thanks Gavin
Hotshot or Supershot is next on my list.
Never had a Supershot but the Hotshot is a real looker and fun to drive.
Definitely not a fail. U found the problem & can now fix it.
Nice bit of diagnosis finding an intermittent fault 👍 but strangely reminds me of the scene when the terminator gets chopped in half but is still alive !!!
LOL

Gav, bin it mate!!! new ESC 10 a penny, Hobbywing 1060 will work well in this... :-)
Just solder that cable back on that old controller looks to be pretty good apart from the cable.
Mot bad,you found the problem, when you get the new one,pop it in and good to go😃
James Swift Yep I have two on order. Fingers crossed I get them in before next weekend.
Thought this would be a vintage with msc and heat sink setup. Still awesome
I want to drive the Hotshot so it got some newer electronics due to the little space you get in these chassis.
Why is the music always much louder then the voiceover......
Hi, The music should drop away when the voice audio kicks in?
If you can't figure it out, ampro engineering probably has a viedo on it.
Sounds like a brown out. You got a bad servo. Or bad receiver. Did your receiver get wet. That can cause it. But it sounds like a brown out that means your Servo
A familiar problem, but a nice easy fix.
Yep when you have the part that is. Now I have a split in two Hotshot for a week and I was kind of hoping to finish it up and drive it this afternoon. Well, always next weekend.
Ahh, we’ve all been there 😀
Never owned a hot shot. I honestly thought you broke it when it split in half lol...that's is the craziest chassis design I have ever seen
viper 76 LOL yep it’s a funny one. Not much space inside.
Seriously what is the stupid music all about? You are skilled and knowledgeable, you can talk us through it more. Please no more obnoxious music
I know your soldering skills are not the best 😂😄 but you could have trayed to re solder the wire , or ? Of camera 😉
lol, 2 pound modern chinese esc failure
