Imagine saying BatWrath is at C+ when it's at C Imagine checking my script and even that says C Imagine saying it twice. Edit: or four times. lmao. I blame the heat. Batwrath is at C lol.
okay ngl the idea of Hilda as dancer sounds so fitting. "helping" by giving her turn to someone else and holding a spell from across the map just sounds So Hilda im definitely doing this on my next run lmao
I also find Hilda to be one of the hardest characters to use as it often feels she is less than the sum of her parts. She has a personal skill based on support but has the stats of a front line unit. She mainly specializes in axes but most axe classes are cut off from her because of her gender. Axes usually go well with gauntlets but the only female gauntlet class requires faith which she has a bane in. She has an exceptionally high charm stat but a bane in authority. She has a budding talent in armor but with her super low resistence becoming an armor knight isn't really viable as she will get murdered by mages. Not to mention as an armor knight her good speed will go completely to waste. She really feels made for the war master like Casper but she can't become one cause of her gender.
Looooong time FE player, finally got around to finishing my 1st Maddening NG run (Blue Lions) thanks to your guides! Please keep it up, love these! Perfect timing on this one as I’m about to start Golden Deer 👌🏼 Death/Darting Blow and Aim +20 S tier skills lmao
Hilda is surprisingly flexible as unit. Like the Wyvern and B. Wrath stuff is fine and all but she's easily able to shine in unconventional builds. She doesn't need to be a Dancer to get good use out of Bolting and works nicely as a mage despite the weakness in Faith. People who think Constance is the only unit that can use Bolting effectively should give Magic Hilda a shot, Warlock bases and class modifiers are more than enough to carry if you have good spells. She's a great Sniper thanks to her good bases combined with Advocate making the road to get to Hunter's Volley very smooth. Bows works nicely with Seal Speed too and can help a lot to Steal a few rings. Sword based builds aren't bad either since her dexterity is a little shaky at time. Basically Hilda as a unit is like Hilda as a character. She may not look like she can do much but she's very capable.
Bolting Hilda is very good, I even used this build to great effect on my Azure Moon run and it has saved me a few times. She also has other useful Spells in Thoron and Recover on top of a high Speed stat compared to the average mage. The problem is her low 25% Magic growth so you'll need boosters to supplement her damage. Even if you do have the boosters you will eventually hit the 36 Magic cap, especially if you're minmaxing. That happened to me sooner than I expected in my run, I even had to max out the Macuil Statue to raise the cap. Constance in comparison has a massive 60% Magic growth so you don't really need to supplement her with boosters. On top of that her Magic cap is an insane 84 so you never have to worry about maxing it out for the entire run.
Some of the base game characters who don't have good magic growth or have a bane in magic skills seem to be balanced out by having one or two particularly good, rare spells. In the base game, Hilda and Manuela are the _only_ units with bolting, which makes it enticing to use Hilda as a mage despite a sub-par magic stat. (And Manuela is a better mage stat-wise, but has a bane in reason.) Bernadetta having rescue is similar, since she's the only base game unit other than Flayn who has it, and you lose Flayn in Crimson Flower. The DLC kind of breaks this though, because Constance has both bolting and rescue, and is a better user of both than anyone else in the game due to her magic stat. There's little reason to use Hilda or Bernadetta as a mage when you have Constance.
@@Zernium Not entirely true for Bolting/Meteor. The main benefits of either is the almost-guaranteed linked attack support. Imagine just having a free Hit+20 on PP for just existing. Constance has fewer supports than Manuela, Dorothea, Hanneman and Hilda. Especially Hilda and Dorothea since they have supports with their whole house and can become dancers, who can just stay in the background and dance while always providing their Hit+20.
Depending on how early you can get it set up it's not a bad idea. You want to immediately change her goals to Reason and Authority to ensure she snags Thoron, Bolting, and magic Battalions as early as possible. This is only practical on VW or AM if you recruit asap as in SS she's available only at the end of Part 1 and is unavailable for CF. I would also recommend using Lances instead of Axes as they are far more accurate and Tempest Lance is invaluable in the early game. You will also eventually get Shatter Slash which will have uses against monsters, especially ones with magic null. Although using a Bolt Axe+ could also be really fun, it's your choice what to prioritize. You can eventually change goals to Faith for Recover and Gremory access. Also abuse the garden for magic boosters and pour them all into Hilda, she'll probably need them. The end result is a fairly fast Warlock/Gremory with crazy long range that in VW effectively gives your house free Gambit support from far away. THUNDER GODDESS Hilda!
Worth mentioning on ng+ or blue lions, king of lions corps battalion gives a ton of physical attack and crit. on fresh file it might be better used on someone else but for ng+ you should have more flexibility. It’s only C rank too, so if you’re going for the low investment prt/batwrath it’s a great option
Other than Dimitri I use the king of Lion corps on shamir because of how high her dexterity growth is, there's been times that she's almost had 100% crit
Battalion Wrath is a C rank ability I believe instead of C+, which helps a decent amount. Hilda also learns Spike at C+ Axes. It's still weaker than Tempest Lance, funnily enough, but it is more damage than Smash if you want her using axes. I never know what to do with Silver Snow Hilda, so I'll try going the armor knight path next time I play. It might be nice to have her run around with brave weapons and grounded battalions in great knight.
One thing I like to do with Hilda is the wrath vantage combo and she runs out oneshotting things with the devil axe until she's below half then she picks up her killer axe and (since I have dlc) she's equipped with the chalice of beginnings. I always give her all the dex stat buffs I find to improve her hit rate as well because even with hit+20 her shaky dex growth and the lower hit rate on axes she can still often miss. Just keep her away from swordmasters and assassin's and shell wipe the floor with most anything else out there.
I'm stoked too. She can carry pretty hard as a fort knight. Just cast the gambit that lets her always counter, ward her up, and warp her into the heat of battle and she just distracts and kills everything.
I really like Sylvain in Golden deer because Tempest Lance + Advocate + Philanderer gives huge damage very early. More a positive for Sylvain but Hilda helps this a lot.
Hey I’ve seen this mentioned here and other places. Why is Wyvern Lord/axes a better option than Falcon Knight/lances? Is it the class, the weapon type, both? I always see “X is better than Z” but never the why?
The main reason is that Wyvern Lord has a better Strength Modifier of 4 compared to Falcoknight's 1. Falcoknight has better modifiers in Dex, Speed and mostly notably Res if you prefer a focus on those stats. As for Hilda, Wyvern Lord is also preferred because Smash and Apocalyptic Flame are better than what she has going for with Lances as Tempest Lance, Shatter Slash etc. lose a lot of value later on.
Is losing player phase really an issue for a mounted? Or even a flier? With the 0 hit on enemy phase you can take as many step you want to close into hit and run range thanks to Canto. Go, kill the siege and move out of enemy range. Its not a drawback.
It absolutely is, it costs a lot of turns, and you won't be counterattacking Ballista or Gambit users, and creates a lot more potential for issues. Gambit users not being able to be killed on the PP whilst maintaining EP is certainly an issue for dodgetanks.
to be honest, hilda isn't a unit i'd prefer using in maddening difficulty. even with using the most accurate units in the game with hit boosting tools, misses are still commonplace - and i remember using hilda in my normal run, and even *there* she struggled to consistently hit enemies. her physical power is nice, but it has zero meaning if it means she'll miss. i'm aware hit +20, accuracy rings and other modifiers exist, and it could be that i got really unlucky with her growths, but god damn. she kept missing.
I always felt Hilda was one of the more awkward units to use. Her personal skill is based on support yet she is a frontline unit. She has boons in axes yet most of the best axe classes are cut off from her cause she is a girl. Axes usually come with gauntlets but the only gauntlet wielding female class requires faith which she has a bane in. She has a very high charm yet a bane in authority. Her relic weapon is powerful but it's so heavy that it completely nullifies her good speed. Hilda kind of feels like the kind of character with a lot of upsides but with the downsides cancelling a lot of them out leaving with a unit that's less than the sum of it's parts. A big contrast to this is a character like Leonie who has very few upsides but they all synchronize and push her in a very clear direction. With Hilda it often feels like no matter what direction you try to push her into there is always some restriction or bane standing in your way.
For the record I did turn Hilda into a damn good flyer particularly a wyvern Rider and I was actually pleased with my results although I did choose to increase her flight proficiency to rank B I mean you got to admit it you have to have a flyer have me alerts dance skill I know it may not be great but it can come in quite handy

another amazing video, these guides are helping me through my second maddening playthrough
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like them!
5:17 Considering she's too lazy to reply to Holst's letters, I doubt there is much of anything that Hilda considers "worth writing home about".

I forgot how annoying the authority bane is. Hilda is still a great unit, though.

Intelligent Systems trolled us by giving HER and Manuella bolting (Manuella has a bane in reason).
Hilda so lazy she would rather zap some fool from a distance rather than walk all those tiles to kill him.
Hilda is the one breaking them down
The best resource requester in game
